Fair enough. So - probably - Cryo Blast is the most reliable. Kudos I guess.

The better TLDR version from what I'm reading is:
-The combo triggers pretty much always with Cyro blast according to this test
-Despite a botched test due to crash It probably triggers more or less always with cyro ammo I personally doubt the game draws distinctions between "health" on different enemy types, so I'd tend to suspect if it works on all synthetics it works on organics.
-Snap freeze by the looks of it may have another bug as it's triggering on armor and shields, but not on health for Synthetics and presumably organics as well for some reason.

Still this would seem to indicate that the combo is working "enough" to possibly make it the better option on some characters. I'd still be somewhat meh on it for a Paladin though as it won't be providing any extra HP damage by the look of it and mostly you'd spam incinerate at something armored outside freeze range anyway, still the extra damage might be useful for chopping down HP sinks like Primes in close. If it gave the extra damage verse health I'd call it a no-brainer.

Good stuff. I was running with a re-speced Paladin early and was not getting either kind of detonation when I tried to use Energy Drain as a detonator. Like ever. If I went with Snap Freeze and Incinerate, in either order, explosions galore happened, but never with ED. Anyone else have this problem?

I think you might be more interested in the fact that cryo explosions involving snap freeze will do 2x damage no matter what.

That is awesome, and definitely something I'll be utilizing, but the idea of being able to detonate an explosion while also restoring my shields is awesome. Unless I'm misinterpreting when you can detonate a cryo. It seemed like I could detonate SF whenever I wanted in the last few games.

Energy drain seems to trigger explosions only on targets that can be drainable, that is: All geth + enemies with shields/barriers still remaining when detonating. For example, you can't make a cerberus trooper explode, but a geth trooper you can. You can't make a shieldless nemesis explode, but one with shields.

I think the freeze combo evolution was intended to be used when cryo bursts still required the target to die in order to activate. Now, there's not really much of a point to it.

So how can it work on Armor, Shields and Barriers? Enemies with those on cannot be frozen no matter what.

Yes, you can't get CEs on armoured targets, however the freeze combo (incinerate on a chilled target) doesn't need a CE.
