*waves frenetically*

You are an artist of your word!... Unlike me, who has still yet to complete the glorious Ranger Rick!Solas AU arts. u_u It's been weighing heavily on my conscience, but it's quite possible it will take me several more weeks months to complete, at the rate I'm going. Sorry guys. I'm a bit of a jerk but also I worked 44hrs over three days this past week in addition to regular hours for the others so basically I get home and I'm:

Spoiler

Also, you did the opposite of butcher our Talas! You, uh... what actually is the opposite of butchering?... um. I'm trying to say they look great. Tala has never looked better. ^__^ Would you mind if I cropped it into an icon for this forum, with credit/link to your tumblr in my signature?

It's okay, you could take forever and a day to do the mug and I would not judge you. Even if I wanted to. People in glass houses and all that. ;)

So how about Solas' fine ass, guys?

Spoiler

Yeah, what's the opposite of butchering? Some kind of tender, fleshy... re-sealing? But yes, of course, do whatever you like with the sketch! I'd be chuffed.

And oof, I hear you on the overworked front. Great works of Ranger/Mounty AU art are worth waiting for.

MTC WHERE ARE YOU YOU BEAUTIFUL CREATURE.

Uh, I mean. Hi guys, how's it going?

But Capricorn. Capricorn, have you seen this? I just saw this like right now and was all "oh, beautiful sketche--HEYWAITAMINUTE".  <3_ <3 Look:

Spoiler

Also bespectacled Solas is in there but mostly lookit our beautiful Talas everyone.

MTC I totally didn't think this would actually be a thing. What a nice little surprise to see upon returning to the online world of Solas-and-semi-related-art-stuffs.Thanks a tonne. :3

OH HEY ROGUEBAIT. I said I'd do it, and I did! I hope I didn't totally butcher either of your fine Talas. I also haven't forgotten about mugs - I swear it will happen.

You're an absolute gem (a precious one, even), but I was most certainly joking! Though I must say, the idea of you sketching my (our) Tala(s) has me kinda on the verge of peeing my pants just a little bit. But y'know. No pressure!

Spoiler

It's true! I am a shiny shiny gem! But no, of course, I totally understood - I was just casting about for ways to distract myself from my deadline (much as I'm doing right now). I'd be way too pleased to draw all Talas present.

Edit: I forgot to add - I hope your new job's going well!

I'm pretty sure I need to see this film/show/totally-real-life-footage of a woman being fatally(?) attacked by CG cats like now. What is this glorious snippet from?

...

Spoiler

Also, only if MTC draws it.

Hnngg! It's awesome, Capricorn. Lovely work!

Edit: Also meant to say how frigging adorable your new icon is. <3_ <3

Aaah! This looks fascinating. Hmmm.... I wonder if I should get into GW2 again? xD

I find it amusing that there are now four Talas (that we know of, anyway). xD

And yes, MTC drawing it would be nice. *wink-wink-nudge-nudge*

Thank you!

Regarding the icon, I feel like I made her look a bit too young though. xD Especially weird to look at when I think of Solas boinking her and then I see her rather child-like face on this icon... Uuh...

Still, thanks!  :)

<3

Spoiler

Shucks, you guys. I'd draw a chart of everyone's characters if only I could (though you have to admit, the Grand and Ever Expanding Chart of All Talas seems like a dangerous project). I promise to remember both your Talas next time I do a big sketchy day (I'm making myself finish the current crop of deadlines first, blaarg).

Why are you so good?! Ugggghhh those lineeees. How do you feel about adopting an adult woman to sit on your desk like a gargoyle and watch you draw? I'd come with a cat.

You and your cat are welcome to come gargoyle with me any time. Watching me draw would be dead boring, though - just a lot of erasing lines over and over again (and swearing) - so I recommend that we both be drawing in this magical gargoyle visit scenario.

My KitKats are from Japan, not a chance in hell I'm sharing them.

I must add my sanction. God, these are so good. Also I sanction no sharing.

Who's the man beside Morrigan? :)

I think that's Corypheus? (I was wondering that myself and it took me a while to realize.)

Yes! Corypheus, all young and besuited. I don't think I quite nailed his face this time, so it makes sense that you guys weren't sure.

YOU! I could just kiss you for this!    *sigh* Solas in a sweater. <3

Cole's bunny shirt is just too precious! :D And Krem's shirt, lol! xD

<3  <3  <3

That sweater is so full of holes, it practically counts as a tear in the veil (working in my love of beat up sweaters, here).

And oh yes, I decided that Cole would have an un-ironic Miffy fixation, with a Miffy backpack, and maybe a Miffy pencil case, etc.

It was way too fun. I want to do this with every single character, however minor, who has ever made an appearance in DA. It pained me to leave anyone out.

Edit: I'm terrified of the top spot. Check out that ecstatic wyvern clipping, two posts below.

I think I like it because you can a more...up-front relationship with him.  I just imagine my Lavellan to be a little bit more surly in that setting.

I can see what you're saying with that - I like the idea of a more aggressive Lavellan, as well. Plus, Solas, always jacked into the fade.

I'd love to say that I am the head of a massive underground animated .gif network, or even that I just have an extraordinary gift for unearthing the perfect .gif for every situation, but really it's that I am a cat and this is an actual clip of me reading as filmed by my husband who is also a cat sheer dumb luck. Happy little accidents, as Bob Ross would say.

Also as Bob Ross says: "I guess I’m a little weird. I like to talk to trees and animals. That’s okay though; I have more fun than most people." So. There you go.

YES. Do it, do it! On a related note, did you ever end up doing that ceramics painting of Solas?

I haven't forgotten! But my ceramic paint's all weird and lumpy, it turns out, so I have to restock. Though I suspect these will be more like... vague wolfish monsters which only people in the know will recognize as Solas-related (mostly because ceramic paint is a total cow and it's hard to render details). I'll find a way to foist one off on you, when I finally get around to it.

I've had my heart set on a cyber-punk AU with Lavellan/Solas

Oh, balls. Now that you've said it, I want this so much.

P.S. I totally see my my Lavellan as a mathematician/physicist in a modern setting.

OK, I'm doing it - I'm mad with power - and we'll see if it's even worth scanning when I'm done.

sorry for being a huge loser more than usual but i just realized who you are on tumblr and your art is really super great like wow WOW

W O W

Nooooo! But thank you, I'm thrilled you like it. I have to say, this is a whole thread full of fantastic artists.

On it.

Edit: God, I felt mightily aflutter. THIS FIC. <3

RogueBait, you must have some kind of criminal mastermind Shadowbroker set up, with an entire wall of screens all filled with different gifs. I can't come up with any other explanation for why your game is always so on point.

Also, reading that fic does make me want to draw all the characters in modern get-up, and maybe I'll actually do that tonight instead of working. Nobody can stop me (dangerous realization).

Yeahh, after months of drepression and months of hearing my parents's words ("your art is not really art") again and again in my head, I'm finally drawing again! And then I happily show this WIP to my friend and she spends an entire hour telling me how it's crap, that nothing's really right, etc etc. I feel the little bit of motivation that I had gathered.... fleeing away right now. Someone hug me ;_;

Spoiler

I think that getting back into drawing (or writing, for that matter) after a period of inactivity is one of the hardest and bravest things you can do. So just the fact that you want to: that is something you can trust, and certainly something you can trust over the opinions of your friends and family. I like to think that perplexing your parents is part of being an artist, and ideally you just find a way to take a little bit of joy from it (easier said than done, sometimes).

Anyway, this forum lurker likes your drawing. Solidarity, here.

Also, HoboSolas is real, and it means that everything could be real.

You guys. Forgive this off topic spewing, but...

Let me tell you a little story. About this girl who's been looking to break into her amazing new career and has been unemployed for a thousand years at least. And this girl looked at this amazing job posting yesterday, which this girl believed she was totes under-qualified for, and almost didn't apply to. She actually closed the tab. But then it nagged at her for several minutes. So she said to herself, **** it, and re-opened the tab and applied. Then got called for an interview within the next two hours.

Spoiler

AND WENT TO THE INTERVIEW AND GOT THE GLORIOUS JOB ON THE SPOT. THE GIRL IS ME. **** YEAH. GO ME. GOT A JOB TODAY.

Spoiler

I am going to properly catch up on the forums tomorrow, and actually try to contribute. Just.. SO MANY HAPPIES I NEEDED TO SHARE. *screams herself hoarse*

Spoiler

WOOOOOOOoooooo! Congrats! I bet you were totally qualified for it - over-qualified, even (hyper-qualified. Qualified 3: qualified with a vengeance), and they're patting themselves on the back for having found somebody ideal.

I have three artists I'm waiting to hear back from on that fanart video. The ones that have been slow on getting back to me have said that they saw my message but forgot to respond or they get tons of messages during the day and never get to them all. I don't know if this means I should keep sending the others messages until they eventually respond or try to find replacement artwork for the few slides I have left. On the one hand, I don't want to bother people. On the other hand finding replacement artwork for the few pieces I'm waiting on permission for is going to be really difficult (I kind of have my head set on these...).

Any artists have any input?

If you're just waiting for permission, not actual new artwork, then I'd email one more time asking for a quick yes/no response as to whether you can go ahead with using their piece - and then find somebody else if they still don't reply.

I sympathize with anyone who has trouble getting back to emails, but even people like me should be able to manage a yes or no.

So I looked up this...Tim Hortons(???) up...there is one down the street from my office. I WILL GO THERE. I WILL GO THERE TOMORROW.  Any suggestions?

Yeah, low expectations. When I go in there (usually at some late late hour when nothing else is open) I get a coffee and a plain donut - and if I pretend that I'm a character in some vintage, small-town buddy cop show (well not literally pretending, but trying to get in that spirit), then I can convince myself it's pretty awesome.

YES. Well not Vancouver proper, but New West, so yeah! I am so into the idea of everyone in this thread moving here for epic Dragon Age slumber parties. We could all have matching dread wolf slippers and onesies, and instead of smacking each other with pillows, we could craft perfect dread wolf orb replicas and chuck them into things until they smash and then laugh and laugh. (I know how to party.)

In actuality, I'd probably get drunk off three beer, cackle like a hyena and fall asleep to the sound of everyone else theory crafting, while clutching a poorly rendered drawing of Solas to my chest.

You're in Northern Ireland, right? Evidently the UK's largest predator is the seal. :3 Aw. Wait, I've got it: let's have a trial by combat to determine whose city is best. For my champion, I choose the Grizzly bear. Heh. Heheh.

I lol'd pretty hard at Buttoncap. That's the most adorable sounding ghost ever.

I now have an intense urge to draw Solas as an uptight park ranger. With tiny shorts, for some reason.

Shhh, we are neighbours. It's practically a 90's sitcom. And the only difference between me and you, at this party that will most definitely happen (pretty much the only party I'd ever agree to show up at), is that I'd get drunk off of two beers.

I fully sanction Ranger/Mountie/RCMP Solas in tiny shorts. And beavers, somehow, somewhere.

I applaud you for trying to get this back on the Solas track. I can't even manage at this point. I'm still reeling from the idea of Sebastian-Bach-as-he-appeared-on-Trailer-Park-Boys!Dirthamen and someone else on this thread living in Vancouver. Whaaaaaat.

GET DEAD! Are you serious? That is rad! Everyone from this thread should move here, so we can have slumber parties.

OHGOD. Serious flashback to grade 4 when my teacher made the class watch those A Part of Our Heritage shorts all day. I love them and I hate them and I love them...

It is our right as Canadians to use the power our national symbol holds to make others uncomfortable and/or in the pursuit of bad/dirty jokes. I salute thee, fellow Canuck.

SEBASTIAN BACH?! *dies of laughter* I can't think of Sebastian Bach without thinking of his cameo on Trailer Park Boys. Thinking of Dirthamen behaving the same way is killing me. I can't even handle this.

THANK YOU! I just wanted somebody to understand that weird Canadians-only reference.

Can you imagine Dalish "Part of Our Heritage" films? All low-budget, and poorly acted, and totally wrong in every respect? Hilarious. Solas fumes in (futile, futile) dissapproval.

Wanna take some? Ontario really doesn't need them all...

Wow, yes. I lived it for a year.

Not at all! For years I've tried to get my students to call me magister or magistra:

First day of class:

Me: You can call me Ms. Giton or by my first name if you want. (arches eyebrow) Or magister. The magister scribendi!

Students: . . .

Me: (nods sagely)

Students: . . .

They have to learn! You need some flowing magisterial robes. And slaves bearing censers.

Another Canadian! <3 I have a couple of online free medium coffee coupons for Timmies up for grabs. I don't drink coffee...

This is the only Dirthamen worthy of existence. Made canon by Lizasaurus.

Spoiler

Burly fistbump! Vancouver doesn't actually have that many Tim Hortons, I'm afraid - we're like sad Canadian wannabes who never quite get it right.

Solas has written a long, dry, academic paper on how the Star Wars trilogy are actually a poor deconstruction of Metropolis by Fritz Lang. But then you see Solas' tiny room and it's filled floor to ceiling with Star Wars legos kept in meticulous condition in those plastic collection cases.

It's sad because it's truuuueee!

I must note that my artifex maximus, MTC, really brought the magisters to life--in my heart.

Is it weird and embarrassing if I use that as my title on a business card? Maybe as a prominent neck tattoo? (Vallaslin?)
