#19922400 Sister Nightingale: Leliana in DA:I Appreciation&Discussion (Nope, still...

Posté par Lenimph sur 02 décembre 2015 - 09:34 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

This has been bothering me for a while... why did they make the Leliana leggings they sell at the Bioware store the wrong beepings colors?!?!

*peaks in*

Well back in my day I had to argue that Marjolaine and Leliana were more then gal pals before Leliana's Song came out so the fact that people actually recognize her preference makes me so happy.

*slithers out*

So it's been confirmed that Leliana will have something in the newest DLC? Or is this all speculation? I'm trying to keep mostly blind but this is something I would like to have a heads up for.

And yes I'm back

Why is Leliana's age such a big deal?

I'm actually really wondering about Isabela... she looks even younger in her DA:I model and I suspect she's one of the older companions. Actually it's really concerning, Bioware should let them age a little bit, considering all they go through they really should have some stress-lines damn.

I honestly don't see them sprinkling that fairy dust on her character. I don't think we need complex solutions for what was retcon because they really wanted to use the character again. She's fine as she is and I'm very doubtful they will pull her back into a major tole again that any such revelation would necessitate.

I disagree. I believe from the beginning that they were always setting up Leliana to be something special (or at least before they started working/writing on DA2)  Leliana's Song set up the path for the role of Divine Justinia and in DA:O she was our first insight into the world and I giant mouthpiece for lore. Pratically all we learned about Orlais was from Leliana but we also learned a lot about things not pertaining to her (like Flemeth, Aveline, the Dalish). Leliana knew a lot before she was "important".

I do find it interesting that they made a character with so much knowledge optional, but they also did that to Isabela who was pretty essential to DA2's plot.

Unless Bioware decides to say f*ck you to what the Lels fans and Lelianamancers want and establish Leliana and Morrigan as central characters for every other Dragon Age game. I personally, prefer to have an entirely new cast for DA4 and DA5.

Speak for yourself. I would have no problem with Leliana being central to every game, but I doubt that would happen anyway. (The romance between Leliana and the warden is nice but I don't really care about what happens between them anymore as the Warden is no longer my character and any headcanons I had in the past are totally gone.)

Oh and I forgot to add the blight resistance as to one of the other reasons I think she's holding Dirthamen.  But mostly at this point this is another reason I have found DA:I so unsatisfactory as it has answered somethings but raised so many other questions.

#19058407 Sister Nightingale: Leliana in DA:I Appreciation&Discussion (Nope, still...

Posté par Lenimph sur 30 avril 2015 - 08:01 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I think Leliana being Dirthamen's vessel (similar to the theory about Sera holding Andruil) could explain a lot of things.  I know it's been suggested in the past that maybe Leliana is a hedgemage as she seems to able to accomplish grandiose achievements without much effort, and even being able to cheat death.  But I feel like thats too simple of an explanation so I'm just going to throw in few stuff up on the table to think about.

Starting with the obvious is Leliana's role as the spy keeper in the inquisition and all the stuff I mentioned in my last post. These are somewhat shallow comparisons but I do not think that it is mere coincidence that Leliana's "makeover" just happens to reference the lore of an old Elven god so strikingly. Especially since the game suggests that Leliana's relationship with the ravens is seemingly mystic.

Unfortunately that's about as concrete as it gets because the rest of my theory exists on more theory so.. yeah.

I have always noted that there seems to be many parallels between Leliana and Andraste herself.  In the past I always thought maybe this was because she was perhaps related to her somehow, or even her reincarnate.  With all the new lore I believe that Andraste was the vessel of Dumat or rather the first "OGB" If it turns out they were both vessels it might explain why they both had "visions", and Leliana believed (in DA:O) that the maker was still among us, because she does have a unknown force driving her to do what she does.   Flemeth's merging with Mythal has shown that these old Elven spirits can seem to just vessel jump in a way so when this potentially happened to Leliana is unknown to me. My guess is at two places, before DA:O or after the death of the Divine when Leliana feels lost to her faith.

Then the "Nightingale Eyes" song seems to allude to the Elven gods trapped beyond the Eluvians, all that "we're hiding in the dark" stuff sounds similar to Cole's dialogue about the Gods. It ends with the desire to find a key. It's kind of odd that Leliana is associated with this, but it could just be coincidence and the song is just speaking metaphorically about Leliana feeling lost in the darkness that she's been in since the death of the divine and that she's just looking for a key to set herself free.

Possibly...  but the "we" makes me think other wise.

Dirthamen seems reliant on the companionship of Falon Din. Leliana is constant in this in her character as well, having a sense of need of reliance for a partner. The first being with Marjolaine and then the Divine. It is also interesting to note that the Divine guides the inquisitor through the fade while Falon Din' guides the dead to the afterlife.  Dirthamen in his youth also enjoyed the company of nature and animals.

Leliana pretty much randomly knew "In Uthenera" in DA:O

I think this is the best explanation as to why she can suddenly come back to life if she was killed off in DA:O. Ultimately Leliana is special, even more so then I think we have gotten to see so far.

Anyway I hope some enjoys my nonsense.

I haven't been here in a while (I've been avoiding the BSN as people we're pissing me off) so anyway I'm not going to backtrack and look at the entire thread but I'm curious as if Leliana's possible connections to Dirthamen were discussed in here.

Dirthaman the elven god of secrets and knowledge, and master of the ravens, Fear and Deceit. Portrayed as a hooded figure and taught the Elves faith in family.  There are some parallels no?

#18391934 Anyone else waiting for AMD's R9 3xx/Pirate Island Series?

Posté par Lenimph sur 17 janvier 2015 - 12:55 dans The Lobby (Off Topic)

I've been meaning to upgrade my 6850, especially ever since I played DA:I and common sense would be for me to just go and buy a GTX 970 but with all these semi-confimed rumors about stacked memory on the new AMD series make me really think I should I wait for the rumored launch of the R9 380x in Feb/March, its also rumored to require 300w which is kind of crazy.

I feel like I've been waiting forever...

Here's an article on the specifics:

The Dalish are kinda like the people that worship DA:O.

All DA games have big flaws.

There is the better character models to consider, or course, but Leliana has this habit of leaning forward over various surfaces too. Leli be strutting her stuff! :D

Yeah I defo noticed that...

Indeed.

Kinda wish Leliana had a comment about the Dalish Warden if the Inquisitor is Dalish too, tbh.

Yeah I was a little disappointed that didn't happen as well.

Yes, seems to have picked the workaholic thing from Liara.

Bioware, please don't have Merrill turn into a ruthless, workaholic spymaster

Nah she got the workaholic thing from Josephine...

And Josephine got that from Liara...

Josephine... Liara 2.0....

I think one of my favorite things in the game related to Leliana was definitely the letter I got from my warden.

My warden was Dalish and the fact that she acknowledged that my Inquisitor was also Dalish was a really nice touch.

#18220984 Celene & Briala (Spoilers for Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts)

Posté par Lenimph sur 29 décembre 2014 - 05:08 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I have just finished this mission for the third time and I have now seen three of the five main outcomes, including Celene rules alone, Briala as shadow empress and Celene and Briala reconciled. I love how we can influence things to go so many different ways, and how different those outcomes feel.

As for Celene and Briala being "reunited", it didn't come across that way to me. They are reconciled, as in no longer enemies. While I guess it's possible to headcanon that they take up the relationship again, personally I can't see that happening.

Um the epilogue literally calls Briala Celene's "Lady Love"

It's not really something to debate, they are romantically entangled if you choose that path.

#18185645 If the vallaslin are *spoilers*

Posté par Lenimph sur 24 décembre 2014 - 06:47 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Interesting. That statement clashes with the priests of mythal wearing the vallaslin and the effect of the geas, yet it isn't Solas's way to outright lie. I feel we are missing too many pieces of the puzzle to shift out the truth here. Thanks for posting the vid :)

Hopefully we'll find out someday.

As it is though, I do not think it would be wise to take Solas' words as whole truth.

#18169137 If the vallaslin are *spoilers*

Posté par Lenimph sur 22 décembre 2014 - 10:22 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

If you're on friendly terms with Solas and talk to him after drinking from the Well, then you see there's no discrepancy- he considers binding yourself to an elven god to be slavery and doesn't approve.

Uh yeah we weren't talking about drinking from the well but I ask why doesn't he mention the vallaslin then because it's the perfect opportunity? There is still a discrepancy.
