#18554073 Dwarf Support Thread

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 07 février 2015 - 10:59 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Very pleased to see a Dwarf thread on the boards. :) Just finished my first playthrough as a female Dwarf warrior and really enjoyed how reactive the game is to your race.

Valdis Cadash:

Speaking of computer problems, I'm having a hard time getting a comment by Varric to trigger. During the prologue, if you go up the hill to the left of the burning house (where the demons have killed people around a camp fire) and walk back down, a companion generally remarks on your origin. If you're a Dalish elf, Solas comments on having crossed paths with your people before. If you're a Qunari, Varric mentions the Qunari in Kirkwall. If you're a dwarf, Varric guesses that you're a surface dwarf like him, probably carta, as you have that shady smuggler look. The three responses are "Very perceptive," "So do you," and "I'm not a criminal." I chose the second since I'm playing a dwarf who doesn't like the criminal life and so gets defensive and deflective about it, but reloaded immediately after because I wanted to see what would happen if I picked "I'm not a criminal." However, Varric's comment doesn't trigger. =(

The same thing happened with my Qunari. Varric commented on her origin the first time they wandered down the hill, but never said it again no matter how many times I uploaded a previous save. Now the same thing seems to be happening with my Dwarf. This is especially irritating because Solas always comments on a Dalish's origin when you walk down that hill, no matter how many times you reload previous saves.

Does anyone else have this problem? And/or have you found some solution?

Had the same problem. :( Couldn't get it to trigger again no matter how many times I tried running around that area/re-loading.

#17856433 The Inquisitor's Edition is coming to GameStop

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 24 novembre 2014 - 04:34 dans News & Announcements

Do I understand it right? They took the money and then claimed that they never received payment in several cases? LOL

Spot on.

If I hadn't kept ringing them (took me many attempts to get through), they would have sat on my order without contacting me for god knows how long.

@DragonOfKhaos: Thanks for posting that, it's almost the exact position I'm in except they haven't replied to my e-mails or voicemail from last week. Seriously annoyed by the rubbish customer service from GS, won't be using them again.

Still can't get through by phone today so think I shall try sending a cancellation e-mail as you did, maybe that will get their attention. Weird thing is, they have taken money from my account, so good luck to them trying to blame this on me.

Update:

So I finally got through to Gamestop's helpline. I explained and gave my order number, but was told that whilst they had my order there was a problem with payment.

This was however not true.

As I explained above, I had previously checked my bank account and seen them take payment on November 17th as they did with other orders. I told them this and after a very quick check they confirmed their error and offered either a full refund or to ship it out immediately.

I chose the refund.

I'll still be picking up the game, just not via Gamestop for that amount of money.

P.S: For people in the UK, Forbidden Planet Online are selling playing cards with some of the same art the tarot cards have, in case you miss out on the Inquisitor's edition and still want a cool extra.

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 23 novembre 2014 - 02:04 dans News & Announcements

Well, you folks at least have got the game (in a good/poor/broken state).  I pre-ordered my CE several weeks ago from Gamestop.co.uk, paid extra for guaranteed delivery on the day of release.

It never came!

So here I am, playing Shadow of Mordor instead.

The UK Gamestop helpline doesn't work and not one of my emails has been replied to yet. The 'Tracking' doesn't seem to work either, as its been stuck on 'exported' for the last 5 days without updates.

Have requested a refund for the additional postage cost and, frankly, the stories about broken components and seller 'rifling' have put me off the goddamn game.

Say what you want about Amazon, but at least they deliver and are rapid to make it right when they screw up.

Shadow of Mordor rocks though, so that's good :)

Yeah I'm in a similar boat, except I don't even have a broken tracking link to try. :D

I know exactly what you mean about being put off, although I'm channeling most of those energies in to the CE rather than the game itself - still can't wait for that.

Even my flatmates are telling me to cancel my order/send it back and just download the game at this point. I just feel very unsure about going through that process when GS has taken so long to reply to my previous e-mails. o_o

Anyway, I'm finishing up another DA2 playthrough whilst I wait. My first mostly aggressive/judgemental Hawke is proving a lot of fun.

#17836414 The Inquisitor's Edition is coming to GameStop

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 22 novembre 2014 - 02:13 dans News & Announcements

Still waiting to hear anything. I did realise the reason mine could be delayed in arriving is due to it being dispatched via Royal Mail rather than UK Mail, however the complete lack of shipping confirmation is worrying.

Did everyone here, especially UK people get confirmation of shipping?

Also, has anyone had experience cancelling an order via e-mail with GS? Is it fairly straightforward and would I get my moneys back quickly?

GameStop have taken the page down, but you can get it through the Google Cache of the page. http://webcache.goog...k&client=safari

Worth taking a screenshot too, just in case.

Thanks for the heads up!

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 21 novembre 2014 - 06:23 dans News & Announcements

Yeah, Gamestop wise I would be happy if they at least gave me an idea of when to expect the game and why it's been delayed. As it stands, based off what I'm reading, it could be here tomorrow or it could never arrive and it's down to me to somehow get through to their customer service.

All that and all I'm reading is that I have more fun and games to come with EA CSAs or TriForce when/if I ever get the package. o_o

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 21 novembre 2014 - 05:34 dans News & Announcements

Thanks for that - have managed to track it with UK Mail but just says 'delayed' and 'at delivery location' ;( don't think I'm getting it this weekend....

It's not showing anything for mine. :(

I would actually be tempted to cancel my order considering the way this has been handled so far. However feel iffy about it dragging out even longer given they have already taken the money and the only way to cancel is by using the same e-mail system which has so far refused to respond to my questions. Guess I'm just going to have to wait it out as well.

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 21 novembre 2014 - 05:24 dans News & Announcements

Still waiting on my Gamestop UK order as well. To make matters even more fun I have heard absolutely nothing from them since I ordered back in July, however they -have- taken my money back on the 17th of Nov.

Order just says 'confirmed' on the website. I've left answerphone messages and sent them e-mails to find out what is going on. o_o

Any other UK folks having this problem? Or has everyone at least been told it's been shipped?

#17621245 The Lounge: Discuss Your DA World States

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 30 octobre 2014 - 05:41 dans Feedback & Suggestions

It's always the warden, the game doesn't trigger the conversation you're suppose to have with Loghain/Alistair to decide who kills it, the warden just runs up and takes the glory.

I suspected as much, that glory hog!

Wondering whether someone can clear something up for me that I cannot remember:

If you do the dark ritual, does it still give Loghain or Alistair a chance to slay the Archdemon? Or is it always the Warden in such a case.

I ask because I always remember Loghain killing the Archdemon on this one particular playthrough, but I definitely did the DR as well. This is a combo the Keep doesn't accept, but I thought I would check whether it's my bad memory or the Keep before I submitted a bug report.

I have the UE and no DLC issues on my end.  I'm using Chrome.

Same.

All the DLC appears separately on my registered content list over at LBSN.

My ultimate edition Warden has finally joined the rest of my custom Wardens in the Keep, could just have been a long delay or hopefully it could mean the maintenance fixed something for other people as well, go check if you haven't already!

Not sure if this means anything but I'll mention it just in case: He seems to have uploaded by replacing an older Warden of mine with the same name/origin. This doesn't affect me as I wanted the newer one, but just in case someone gets an unwanted overwrite...

Also yay for the DLC fixes! Although my DA2 DLC is still borked. :< Guessing that's still being worked on?

Yup submitted a bug report about the Wynne thing. Seeing as a number of us have caught it I would imagine it gets fixed fairly soon. It's just Wynne trying to cheat death once again!

#15121536 Voice Actors for the Inquisitor

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 17 juin 2013 - 12:28 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Grey DeLisle would be awesome, she already voiced Velanna in Awakening though which may make it extra unlikely.

Wonder how much the Inquisitor's nationality will matter, Hawke was from Ferelden and the British VAs sounded just right for that, but what if we are Nevarran or something this time around?

Yay. :D

Whilst you're scribbling could you add a reminder that bow strings make bows look that little bit more awesome and complete. Thanks! ^^

I thought she looked fine, was pleased just to hear her narrating and see her again. Looking forward to seeing some other returning characters in the snazzy new engine!

He really has to be back, such a fantastic creation. Definitely has more room for character development beyond what we saw in DA2 as well. Also it's noteworthy that he couldn't die in DA2, which means that if they are planning to use import data they don't have to worry about that as a factor.
Bring back the chest hair!

Neutral Good Human Ranger (3rd Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength - 14
Dexterity - 15
Constitution - 15
Intelligence - 12
Wisdom - 12
Charisma - 13

Was expecting (and very nearly got) True Neutral Bard, but fair enough. Also nearly got Gnome, which would have been much more fun. >.>

During the development of Dragon Age, have you always had an overall idea of the story you will tell through-out the games, or has the tale grown in the telling?

We've had a very detailed plan, which has had to change as the circumstances surrounding the games has changed. I always smile when someone chimes in with the helpful advice of "you should plan better!" We have plans upon plans upon plans, and the documentation to go along with it, but no plan of that sort survives contact with the enemy. So we roll with it and adapt. Good news is that the "overall story" that was originally conceived of back in the day has more or less survives intact, even if the road to getting there looks very different from how we had originally pictured it.

I know this is something we could never see, certainly not withing the next decade or more but man would it ever be interesting to look at the plans, what never was and what changed.  Seeing what was planned all along and what was a last minute addition.

Yeah, I love it when you get that sort of insight into the creative process in making of and other bonus features, would love to eventually see something like that for the DA series, however unlikely.

#13096462 Avellone on romance: New interview

Posté par Apollo Starflare sur 04 novembre 2012 - 10:02 dans The Lobby (Off Topic)

The day romances in BioWare games become unavoidable parts of the plot is the day that I shall consider the arguments that they focus on them too much to have merit.

Personally I'm a fan of both Obsidian and BioWare's (oh and CDPR too) approach to romance and character development, it's not like everything should be the same. BioWare romances might have gotten somewhat formulaic at times, but there are plenty of memorable ones for those who want to experience a romance in their playthrough, and it is rare that it is thrust in your face for those that don't.
