#18506395 I think DA:I was the best game Bioware did since DA:O and the first Mass Effect

Posté par arafinwe_ingalaure sur 31 janvier 2015 - 12:02 dans Feedback & Suggestions

If I enjoy a game, I do post about it and my hardware specs. I also buy all the DLC's and play it many times over.

Too many posts of this is the best RPG ever!!! because someone went out and bought a PS4.......go figure. Try playing DAI with a PC keyboard and mouse.....play DAO and all the DLC's and then play DAI and tell us what you think......I bet DAI will not be the best RPG ever anymore.

The quaity of DAO and its DLC's and what you could do in that game, is not present with DAI.

DAI is for console users, PS4, very simplifed, short game, hack and slash, useless side quests, and too much was taken out of what a RPG is supposed to be all about. It's not about the latest prettiest graphics and cutscenes....

I loved to play DA:O on PC, it was amazing, but DA:I had some improvement in cinematics and quality graphics.  I still prefer the combat system in DA:O, but it would have been too hard to do it on consoles where too many people complains that the game has no action.  I'm a huge fan of turn-base RPGs and I don't care if it's not real time action.  I love all type of RPGs but too many real time action make us lose the charm of RPG games.  DA:I is much more then an hack 'n slash like Diablo.  It's not perfect, but it's among the best game I've played.  I find it superior to the original with all the fan content too.

I game on a PC. I use keyboard and mouse. I like DAI. I do not need a PS4 to enjoy it. Is it the best cRPG ever? No, but it is my game of the year. Is DAO the best cRPG ever? No.

The closest to the best cRPG ever are BG2 and PST. I also like DA2 which I still believe has a better story than DAO. DAI and DAO are about on par for me

Oh, and before anybody tells me I am wrong. This is my humble opinion and the only one that needs to matter to me. But YMMV.

I'm tired of gaming on PC, it cost too much and it much less stable then  consoles that are now giving excellent performance on the graphic side.  I don't regret getting a PS4.

First off ME2 is way better than this.

But the main reason fro my response  is that since you specified that is their best game since ME1 and DAO you have actively  elminated those two games as well as anything before them like Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate.  Most of their games in the last few years, DA2 and ME3 for example, were pretty bad games.  So you are not giving the game close to as much praise as you think you are as a result.

How can running in a corridor shooting waves of waves of ennemies with stupid badasses (Jack, Grunt and Zaeed) can make it a good game ?  It has zero exploration (excep for the ressource mining mini game (boring)).  Plus the plot of killing Sheppard and rebuild her/him isn't great.  ME2 is the weakest of trilogy by far.  But it's my opinion, and respect your.  If you enjoyed it the best it's ok.  I'm not saying the game is bad, it's just the on I like the least.  A bad Bioware game is still better then most games from other companies.

You are aware that we are in a thread of a gamer who enjoys the game, right? Someone who wants to give feedback?

Critique is a detailed analysis by definition. If you only say "I don't like it!" or "I love it!", then it's not proper critique. It also helps you understand -why- you love it. For example, if you say that the graphics are awesome... what about them is awesome? Is it the textures? The dynamic lighting?

Positive feedback is as much important as negative. We complain about BioWare not listening but if we only give them half of a critique, then it's no surprise if they go into a new direction we didn't expect. You always need to list the good things with the bad. It also helps the tone because otherwise it's too harsh. I understand why the devs avoid reading it then.

I'm not ignoring anything, it's more likely that you didn't understand my post. I admit that I wrote it late at night and it might not be 100% clear in some parts.

I don't have the time to write something in details.  It's just a questions of control over the chracters.  The combat was fun.  I loved the story.  I welcome the return of inventory.  I love the epic cinematics.

I would not say DAI is the best Bioware game, but I agree that the game is excellent. The main act and its cinematic sequences are great; they keep me immersed into the game. More cinematic scenes for some side quests would also be a nice addition. And yes, I wish the main quest would be slightly longer (say one more quest).

I would also love if they make Single player DLCs too.

Thank you !

Posté par arafinwe_ingalaure sur 24 janvier 2015 - 12:43 dans Feedback & Suggestions

Good on you OP :) the game certainly had its flaws, but it had a lot of fun moments too. I finished it twice, and now I'm replaying the first two games and reading the books leading up to Inquisition before I try another go at it (which has been fun! To anyone else who might've been considering that endeavor ^.^)

Thank you, yes the game has flaws like most open world games,  But they are all minor to me (at least on PS4).  The fun factor made it a great gaming experience.

I really can't decide between DAO and DAI, they're fantastic games and I enjoy them a lot. You guys don't need to be assholes just because of the OP's opinion, respect it. Stop whining about it and let people express what they think without calling them trolls. That's childish as it gets.

DA:O is great on PC with all the fan made stuff it made it an even better game. DA:I is more action oriented, but with DA:O tactical view it would have been the best game of all time.  I wish we would get fan made content for DA:I too, but I guess it won't happen on the consoles.

The OP is probably some BW/EA employee's sister. ;)

Seriosully I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I did too. But it would (and should've) been much better. I reinstalled it for Patch 3, only to realize the only thing that got "fixed" was a walking toggle. LOL

Tac Cam is still worthless, the AI is still a joke ( Viv standing in front of a dragon to get clawed to death despite me moving her 4 times), no auto-attack, no rogue abilities (I can't even pick a pocket, man this game killed the rogue class), and the 8 bar slot limit is STILL there.

So I uninstalled it again. Waiting for Patch 4 or a DLC.

Saddly I don't have any siblings.  I know the PC version is broken, that's why I play it on PS4 look

Troll, troll, troll your post, gently down the screeeeeeen.....

Obvious flamebaiting aside, I would like to mention that overall I feel like the direction was the right one, from DA2.  It wasn't executed well, and "executed" would be the term I'd apply to what management wound up doing to the final product.  It's plainly all there, though.  That's what's maddening.  The crafting system is begging for more visual variety and control over the final look.  Skyhold's customization.  The huge zones.  All the groundwork was there - and then it was eviscerated To Control Costs and Increase Shareholder Value.

But i DO NOT feel nostalgic about DA2's "yes, you're back at this coastline map again" sidequests to the same damn place.  Or re-use of the same 3 corridors for every damn mission everywhere.  Or a world map consisting only of There and Back Again.  It felt even more pre-determined and powerless than DA:I does - the infamous Dead Mom mission comes to mind - and just being able to go out somewhere in the DA:I world and f&^% around for a while is a huge plus for me.

It's got a long way to go before I'd be spending any cash on DLC, but the potential is there.  The flaws, unfortunately, are highlighted by that potential.  The bugs and broken bits are something EA is desperately trying to train us all to expect and accept, and they're frustrated and annoyed by how it's just not working and we keep insisting on being treated as paying customers who paid full price for a product, and not "fans" that eat up anything they throw out at us.

There's still hope, and I firmly believe DA:I is a step in the right direction.  But it's just the first step.

I'm not saying DA:I is perfect, sure the game has more original stuff then in DA 2, less reusing .  But many things were wrong in DA2.

What defines a game as "best" anyhow? To one person the game may be the best game they ever played, while to another it may be alright at best. It's like asking; "what is the best music?".
In the end it all comes down to individual taste and opinion.
Although I think that generally people can agree that this game is "good".

You are right, it's something personal.  We live in democracy and every body can have a different opinion.  I'm not forcing mine on everyone, I'm just telling to the dev that I liked their game and expect them to continue that way.

#18443633 I think DA:I was the best game Bioware did since DA:O and the first Mass Effect

Posté par arafinwe_ingalaure sur 22 janvier 2015 - 11:13 dans Feedback & Suggestions

I guess you didn't read this forum before you posted? :)

Yes, it's feedback because I was so angry about Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3.  I'm telling the developpers that I loved their games.

You are aware that this is an incomplete product?  I like many things in inquisition, but it is far from complete and in many cases not functional to a beta release, moreover, many serious pitfalls have been blocked, not fixed.

It's not that incomplete, 98 hours a gameplay isn,t bad at all for a story driven game.   I don't know what you are talking about, they only needed to rework the strategic view and improve the inventory system.

They're called requisitions. It's a step down from the Skyrim way, but it's there. Gives you many power. Many influence. [laughter intensifies]

I'm not calling those quests, they are really boring.  I'm talking about quest with stories, not fetch quest.  It worked in Skyrim.

How is giving the players almost zero choices for character creation, and severely limiting the Player's tactical options during combat, in any possible way translatable into "back to your RPG roots".

Removing almost all of the RPG elements in the game is not going back to the roots. that is going further away from them.

I took many important decisions in the main quest where it did matter.  You couldn't side with both mages and templars.

They're not trolls, they're fangirls. Nobody bothered checking the portraits except me? LOL? MyLittlePony? OK, nuff said. Going back to a real game now. rofl..

What'S wrong in being a fangirl ?

Oh god, please no more interchangable fetch quests. Dragon age was always personal and cinematic, with tons of story and events that mattered. I can play an MMO if I want to run across a map to deliver flowers or mine 20 rocks. No more filler.

Agreed, Dragon age 2 had a better story, once i replayed it expecting the recycled maps and waves of bad guys and could ignore those things, it had a solid premise. Inquisition has a lot of great stuff but losing attribute points, tactical control, cinematic dialogue for the most part, and with the addition of so much filler (deliver this for quest complete and 2 power with no conversation or meaningful dialogue, etc) really hurt it.

We need story, and we need to be able to build and customize our characters. They look great, but a lot of great concepts were dumbed down. I mean the tactics menu already exists and it's awesomely complex, why remove it? And i don't care about stat related items in game because i honestly don't know what my stats are, that's how disconnected we are.

If I want an MMo I'll play and MMO, if i want skyrim i own skyrim, what i want is dragon age... a little less rushed then da2, but the core concept should be intact.

Yes, but making main story takes a lot of time,  I doubt EA would let them work over 3 years without releasing something..  I guess DAI was made for teh consoles first, that'S why the tactical view is  flawed.  Especially on PC, but on PS4, everything is fine and the game didn't crashed once.  I know the PC version is bugged, but after trying both, the game is better on PS4.

#18441333 ranking bioware games

Posté par arafinwe_ingalaure sur 22 janvier 2015 - 07:13 dans Feedback & Suggestions

My ranking of the Bioware games I played :

1) Dragon Age  Inquisition (PS4)

2) Mass Effect (360/PC)

3) Dragon Age Origin (PC)

4) Jade Empire (XBOX)

5) Star War : Knights Of The Old Republic (PC)

6) Baldur's Gate (PC)

... Now began the dissapoiting games

7) Mass Effect 3  (360)  the ending ruins everything.  No exploration, level felt like a long corridors with waves of ennemies.

8) Dragon Age 2 (PC) I like the story, but the game was too rushed and had many technical issues,  RPG elements missing

9) Mass Effect 2 (360) It felt like walking in a corridor to kill dozen of waves of ennemies.  I like the story, but the missing RPG elements hurt it a lot.  It was the most boring game Bioware did.

Here are some important elements of RPGs :

1) Exploration

2) Character interaction

3) A deep inventory system

4) Character customisation

5) Taking decisions that matters.

I'm glad you return to something closer to your RPG roots and that the game was such big and with the best cinematic scenes I have ever seen.  This game was almost perfect and some of the minor issues are easily forgivable.  It's true that I wished that some side quest would have more cinematics scenes, but what it's important are the epic scenese in the main act.

I just wish the game would be longer, I didn,t had enough and there were so many content in the concil chamber missions I wanted to do, but since only the last quest remain I had enough and began the last mission.

My suggestions, add a quest generator just like the one in Skyrim.  So the game can make us wait until the next DLCs that (I hope will bring more to the story).  I'm not fond of the Multiplayer mode, so I hope there will be single player DLCs too.

ME 1 is still my favorite because it was the last real RPG. ME 2 and ME 3 aren't bad games, but they aren't RPGs. They are 3rd person shooters with some meek RPG elements.

MP is ok, but I was expecting something better like in Uncharted 2 Mutliplayer. I hope that we will see more in the real MP More then just queing some missions and wipe endless waves of ennemies. I need a good story to keep my interest, I'm not really a fan of shooters so ...

I have no problems playing a male character or a female character as long the story is good. But I only romance female characters. So if I have no option for a female romance for a female characters, they stay single :)

That reminds me in KOTOR when they were torturing Carth, I wanted so much my female character to stay away from Carth that I made her say she enjoyed seeing him tortured.  I would never say that in real life. LOL !

Not bad, but too repetitiv without story elements. Uncharted has the right formulla to keep MP interesting to play. There is nothing more boring to shoot endless waves of ennemies.

Oh please they weren't being misogynistic they were were making the world feel real and authentic. I think we all know how women were treated in the middle ages and what era in history does this series remind you of besides some of the most powerful people in the games are women.

I'm not against nudity and swearing in games.  Some of the scenes with Triss were really well done. But are the whoring scenes necessary to the story ?  Not really, it's still optional content and I didn't used them myself,  You do it if you want and I don't have problems with that, I don't think it would hurt the game if the Aussie's rating company ask them to remove them.   As for the swearing, I don't think people where swearing that much in the middle-age. Of course a little of swearing, but not as much as the dwarfs are doing there.

In my game : I sided with Iorveth, and helped Philippa and saved Saskia.  I let Letho go :)  I wanted to romance Triss, but the story broke my project of that.

edit: To those of you who've been reading the news on this, has there been any talk of censorship of the content for the Xbox 360 version? It would be a shame if they tamper with the content of the original game.

Two runs for major new content, several runs for minor stuff. They say 16 endings, but really, only little stuff changes after a few endings. Still, they weren't blowing hot air when they said the game is non linear. Even side quests can have mutliple outcomes.

I'll feel bad for Aussie xbox players if they get a censored version.

Witcher 2. Mass Effect seems to get worse in worse in terms of writing with each game.

I think the drop of writing quality came from Drew Karphyshyn withdrawal from Mass Effect Universe.  I read the 3 first novels and those where great.  The newest is not good.  ME 2 tried to feel too much badass and failed for that.  Dumbing the RPG features to please 3rd person shooter fans was a bad decision.

Now, I think they try to add too much emotion and they will probably fail.  Those Shepards and kid scenes, LOL.   I've seen much better.

The Witcher 2's upgrade will be free on PC, so it's an other plus for CDPROJECT,  EA will make us pay for any DLC that will probably be too short and not worthy of the price.  They made only one good DLC for Mass Effect, and still it was too short (Lair Of the Shadow Broker"

The Witcher 2 is great, I loved it, even with somes flaws. Thought I can't judge ME3 before finishing it. But I know I will be expecting too much and it kept many of the flaws I saw in ME 2. I still believe ME 1 is the best game of the three because of its superior script, the inventory system, the freedom of going where you want. ME 2 isn't a bad game, but it feel much like a shooter in a huge walkway. Almost no exploration, there was not inventory. The quality of the script was subpar to ME1 or DA2. They improves the shooting and the cinematic, but I need more.

In terms of gameplay, The Witcher 2 is hard to beat, it's the best I have ever played. You really feel Geralt's evolution while you are playing. You don't feel that much in Skyrim or ME 2. The story was nice too, thought some parts had too much useless swearing. Some parts were degrading to women, but the overal result, is that it's easily my favorite RPG from last year. Skyrim is good, thought I prefer story driven RPGs. Demon Soul isn't that great, the controls are clunky and it's tough for nothing.

Now, I want Leliana in The Witcher 3 ;) She could fit the Witcher's universe :)
