#16235956 The General Discussion Thread

Posté par ilikeicehockey sur 13 mars 2014 - 10:22 dans The Treehouse

So this looks interesting (link below). I like how they created the lore and although it looks nice in the pictures, the pdf samples look much poorer. To me, it will depend on the size (I have no idea what the dimensions of any of the items are and the pictures don't provide a frame of reference) and quality. Thoughts?

P.S. Beo- Have you figured out how to hang your lithos?

I still use Mass Effect 1 and 2, but I don't use the single-player of Mass Effect 3.

The only time that I would consider using the single-player of Mass Effect 3 is when new DLC came for it, but I guess now that there is now no new DLC coming out there is NO reason at all to use Mass Effect 3 and that is a shame because I still do like Mass Effect 1 and 2 it just a shame that Mass Effect 3 is so bad.

Fan-made DLC (of a sort) makes ME3 worthwhile again: MEHEM or MEEM (I prefer MEHEM).  They put air back into the game's lungs.

+1. I could never get through my second playthrough but MEHEM allowed me to get through it and erase the starchild from my playthrough. It's still bittersweet, but IMO much better than the original ending. You're also missing the PC's biggest advantage; mods. Try adding some high resolution textures and other mods. It makes the experience much more enjoyable. I pretty much buy the PC versions whenever I can and only go console for the exclusives.

So for the Citadel DLC, anyone figure out how to keep those window blinds up or have I been missing the button. What's the point in having them up for the intro and then permanently lowering them?

Posté par ilikeicehockey sur 09 mars 2013 - 03:45 dans Fan Creations

May have been brought up before but, I'm having some issues where some of the textures pop into the game (eg. a face skin covering the entire screen or something covering the gun modification making mod changing for weapons not possible). Alt tabbing works sometimes to remove it or it rotates to another texture popping up. Any solutions?

On the OP it only states armor and clothing included in the packs. Does that mean I have to download the character resolutions separately?

You would hope that costs would actually decrease over time not increase. Successful businesses should be able to lower costs and increase efficiency in their production processes over time. If your costs are increasing, then it's not being run well or something is wrong. Factor in the recent recession and extremely low interest rates (both in Canada and the US), development costs should be fairly low.

I don't think there was nearly as much efficiency gain going  from ME2 to ME3 as there was going from ME1 to ME2.

Also note that ME3 spent plenty of money that ME2 didn't spend. More dialogue, more diverse maps, more varied gameplay, more cutscenes. Whether you think those expenditures were wise is a separate issue. (Just talking the main games; I've only seen the ME2 DLCs on a friend's rig, and I haven't even done that for ME3).

But this is all irrelevant. Even if Bio could make an ME3 DLC cheaply, why should they sell it for anything less than the revenue-maximizing price? What's the argument?

From Chris's quote, you can allude that the reason for the price increase was higher costs and not EA/Bioware wanting to maximize revenue.

I'll quote it again for you...

Yeah, because BioWare made everything for free before we were bought by EA right? And costs of development have remained stagnant since, oh, 2008?

As I said, some people will nto want this DLC or will not want to pay $15 for it. That is fine. YOU determine that value for YOU. If I say it is worth it and tha majority other people here (which is the minority, thanks for pointing that out) say it is worth it (or not) what matters is what matters to YOU.

If you've played with RM then you know that it isn't fullproof. There's about a 5-10% that it won't work even when its been activated. Good chances for a revive but when that odd one comes, it could cost you the game (lost a few plats this way).

Point me to the lithograph selling thread then everyone will stop arguing. As it stands, this is the ONLY place to tell anyone you have a lithograph that you want to get rid of but possibly not be up for trading. If that's the case, your lowering the chance of others getting lithographs they want because well... of a title?

And there is reason to argue, good reasons at that. I don't normally argue ever, not unless i'm right and it's for a good reason. I just think it's silly how theres so much discussion over a poster advertising his lithograph he wants to get rid of.

It is NOT the only place. You are free to make your own thread and as stated in my post, use the search function, the thread exists.
Furthermore, as stated in my previous post, the reason why I stopped allowing selling has been discussed to death if you'd bother to read through this thread in its entirety. You can't have people handing things to you on a silver platter your whole life. You need to put in the effort. Do your due dilligence before you make a statement. If you still feel strongly about this then make your own thread and talk away. As it stands right now, these posts are off topic.

#10349366 Lithograph Trading Thread

Posté par ilikeicehockey sur 12 mai 2012 - 10:50 dans BioWare Store Support

I don't mind if this thread doesn't get bumped up and dies off but since it was made by me, I feel a responsibility to keep it on topic and true to its original intentions. The reason why I ask everyone to remove selling/ebay posts has been discussed to death if you bother to go through the 24 pages of this thread. If you'd bother to use the search fucntion, you would find an already existing selling thread in this forum. Heck, make your own trading/buying/selling thread if you want. No one's stopping you.

By making a post on a thread I created you have agreed to abide by the terms I listed in the first post. There has been a huge debate with flippers and ebay selling in the past which is why I have to tightly regulate this thread. I've been in contact with the moderators before and they will take action for off topic posts. This thread is titled lithograph trading not buying or selling so those posts are deemed off topic and can be removed. This also leads me to my PM point. I don't discuss why or how this thread is run publicly because it is off topic.

Since posters seem to be unable to read the title or the first post of this thread, I am going to ask to have this thread locked.

Also going to post this which was made by Biowarestore Jedi who IS a moderator and also the owner of The Bioware Store....

There is an unfortunate tendency for people communicating anonymously to not treat each other respectfully. Need to remove ALL selling posts now. Read the first post in the thread before you post. Or read the post I made in the middle of this page or any page of this thread. I literally make at least one on each page. Read the thread title and first post accordingly. Really getting tired of this. Remove your post now sentient and Kem or I will have a moderator take action

LOL. Had the exact same guy with the same cut and paste response.

P.S. PC is better, what's used to develop and make Mass Effect. THE PC. Which one can multitask by giving you the ability to use it as a workstation, surf the web, watch movies and play games at the same time? THE PC. We also don't pay to play multiplayer. Load times for decent rigs are also seconds so more time spent playing and and less waiting. Immersion not ruined by having to change disks multiple times.

#10102062 What future for ME franchise with “those” endings?

Posté par ilikeicehockey sur 30 avril 2012 - 04:04 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Just wanted to chime in with all this mass relay building theory. It really isn't probable. Think about it. ALL the mass relays are destroyed. This means all the races are stuck in Sol right now with a devasted Earth that can barely provide any resources for survival. Sure they can build a mass relay in Sol but where would the end point be? They would have to send someone to the end point to build the mass relay. You know how long it takes to get out of our solar system and into another? The closest one is 4.54 light years which may be reasonable but far flung systems like the Crab Nebula (Hades Gamma ingame) are over 6500 light years away. Per the Mass Effect wiki, FTL travel without mass relays accounts for roughly 12 light years/day. That would be almost 2 years of constant FTL travel, pretty much impossible.

You have to remember that when you build a mass relay, there must be an end point and that mass relays are only available for point to point travel, you cannot use one mass relay with multiple end points.

#9276159 Looking for some MP advice on Infiltrators

Posté par ilikeicehockey sur 03 avril 2012 - 03:28 dans Multiplayer

First off, a bit of background. Usually place 1st in team and play almost exclusively on geth/gold for farming credits with my infiltrator.

The cloak is your friend. With the ability to boost weapon damage and an additional 40% sniper rifle damage, I can one shot base enemies (troopers, cannibals, Geth troopers) wherever I shoot even on gold. Unless they do that stupid jump dodge, where they reduce damage taken. You want this on whenever you shoot which is why I go with my Mantis instead of the Widow. The difference in damage between a Mantis X and a Widow 2 or 3 isn't much so I'd rather take the lighter one that cools my cloak down faster allowing for more powerful shots everytime. Getting the Mantis X is also much easier, just spam recruit packs (which are also much cheaper than spamming spectre pack). I'd also put the barrel and AP pen mod on the Mantis as it also adds a bonus to dealing armor damage on top of penetration.

Ability wise, I forgo proximity mine and max everything else out as I'd rather have increased survivablity (energy drain) and not waste cooldowns I would like to reserve for the cloak. For the last cloak ability, I would go for the damage, the 'fire one ability' actually still works without that final upgrade. If you're fast enough, you can energy drain and shoot while still in cloak or vice versa.

I also love using the cloak to revive teammates or get those deactivate objectives (cloak right before you deactivate).

Some tips for fighting geth...
Troopers- cloak then shoot--> insta-kill
Rocket troopers-cloak, energy drain, watch the stagger and then shoot --> insta-kill
Pyros-cloak, drain, shoot around a few inches to the bottom left of the head --> with practice you can set the gas tank on fire which results in death a few seconds later
Hunters- tougher but same strategy as above, will take 2 shots (drains optional)
Primes- same as above but try to aim for the head (around 4 bars of shield/shot and 3 bars or armor/shot).

#7920181 Odd methods of payment for parcels with COD

Posté par ilikeicehockey sur 01 mars 2012 - 06:33 dans BioWare Store Support

The COD and taxes is definitely wrong on my package. Did some more number crunching...

litho+slipcover= 65+40=$105
Tax rate of 13% so 105 x .13 = $13.65
Taxes I was charged was $27.96/package which meant I was taxed at around a rate of 27%.

All in all, $26.15 for shipping, 70.42 in COD fees means I payed $96.57 in shipping/fees for $105 in goods.
