#19129948 More Skyhold upgrades!?

Posté par happy_daiz sur 14 mai 2015 - 06:00 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Usually by the end of the game, I've got more quarries and logging camps than I can possibly use, several times over. With so many available, it seems like they should serve a purpose...like fixing up Skyhold, perhaps? ;)

It's a shame that it's so big, but yet, there are so many places that never get used or appreciated. Or fixed up.

I'm also hoping for a future DLC.

#18989986 Inconsistent Pronunciations

Posté par happy_daiz sur 16 avril 2015 - 07:15 dans Feedback & Suggestions

I notice these things, too. The big one in my book is the pronounciation of "Thedas".

Why on earth (or Thedas) can't that be consistent? I mean, it's where everyone in the game lives. Everyone. Wouldn't they be in some kind of agreement about how to say it? Maybe? Nevermind, I answered my own question.

Also, I just saw this on the wiki. I had no idea. :P

The name was originally an acronym used on the BioWare Dragon Age forums. It stands for "THE" "D"ragon "A"ge "S"etting.

Haha, couldn't have said it better myself. I never thought you were though, this thread is way too nice for silly trolls!  :P

You are absolutely right. I felt instantly at home when I first came into this thread. You guys are great.  <3

#18988990 Dispatch Table in Camps

Posté par happy_daiz sur 16 avril 2015 - 03:32 dans Feedback & Suggestions

Yeah, that would be nice.

I'd also like it if the requisitions could be presented in a list, so you could just grab them from the requisitions officer all at once.

And be able to cancel requisitions if you realize you won't be able to get all the materials you need (because you cleared out the area, and there are no enemies left to drop anything).

#18988944 I have questions...

Posté par happy_daiz sur 16 avril 2015 - 03:23 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Those two Wardens at the beginning of Crestwood were probably scared of getting rekt by the rift demons, wild dogs, undead, etc., and ran out with their tails between their legs. I dunno. Don't really care. Stroud, though, he's a cool dude.

I assume the reason they make you go to Crestwood first, is to ease you into your first dragon fight.

Regarding the Hissing Wastes, I go there as soon as I possibly can, after reaching Skyhold. Why? For the tier 3 materials, and the Masterwork Dual Curved Blade schematics (as well as the superior versions for each class of armor from the shop). And, lots of XP from enemies who have to scrape a bit of my Inquisitor off their boots from time to time.

You don't have to go there at all, but I always do. The lure of good crafting is something I can't easily ignore.

Regarding the last question, I don't know. I suppose they probably wanted to save Adamant for later in the MQ.

#18988910 Dorian discussion and appreciation thread

Posté par happy_daiz sur 16 avril 2015 - 03:17 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Lot's of people dislike her, but I love Vivienne and think she is absolutely fabulous.  I often pair her with Dorian for over 9000 levels of fabulous.

It just took me a little bit to give her a chance. The first time I heard Vivienne and Dorian going at it, my jaw was on the floor. Once over the initial shock of it all, I was impressed by their banter. Over time, I realized she wasn't quite the horrible wench I assumed her to be. She is a much more regular party member now. :)

tl;dr

I just want better hair and Skyhold customization options, kthxbai.

P.S. Most of my HoFs are dead.

#18978376 Qunari-Fun to play?

Posté par happy_daiz sur 14 avril 2015 - 02:41 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I love my male qunari, Niyaz. He's a rogue DW. He started as a bowman, but I found it so boring, I wanted to claw my eyes out. I actually didn't switch him over to DW until after level 20, as I was trying to give archery a chance.

Anyway.

As a couple of others have said, there are some graphical issues with qunari. The clipping in the Skyhold pjs is awful. Some armors, too.

I'm not a big fan of vitaars, either. I have the game set to not display helmets, so I don't have to look at them. Except while crafting (whyyyy?)

But the worst is the cutscenes. Sometimes, you can see a brief flash of movement, like your qunari's head starts too high up in the scene, then *flash*; then they're at a more normal height. This doesn't bother me so much as when they don't fix it, and my qunari's head is chopped off.  <_< Thankfully, it doesn't happen ALL the time.

All that aside, I had a lot of fun playing my m!Adaar. I normally play female characters, so he was quite the exception for me. It took me a while to get used to him, because of his size, his gender, his race, yada yada yada, but now, I just love him. So, so much.

#18978217 Dorian discussion and appreciation thread

Posté par happy_daiz sur 14 avril 2015 - 02:03 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

On this most recent occasion I took only Dorian and Bull along. On the first attempt in the dialog prompt when the two argue I picked, "Now is not the time," and waited for over an hour, during which time I got three normal banters between Bull and Dorian, but not this specific one. On a second attempt I picked, "Both sides have problems," and did get the banter rather quickly after that. I don't know if that was bad/good luck, or is actually significant. Probably the former.

I said "Now is not the time", and got that dialogue right away, the last time I did that mission. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it.

YES.  Dorian, Sera, and Vivienne are the funniest companion combo in the game IMO.

I have not tried them together. Honestly, I never brought Vivienne along, ever, until my most recent playthrough. I just didn't like her, and pushed her under the rug. Sometimes I left her standing out on the grass in Skyhold. Like the whole game. I finally decided to give her a chance, and actually did her quests. That enchanter throne you get is my favorite!

#18974600 What's the Hardest Fight in DA:I / the Dragon Age Series?

Posté par happy_daiz sur 13 avril 2015 - 07:03 dans Combat, Strategy, and Gameplay

I thought Corypheus was pretty tough in Legacy.

The first time through, anyway. Until I'd figured out the strategy, I was sure I'd never finish the DLC, because I'd be stuck right there.

#18974359 Dorian discussion and appreciation thread

Posté par happy_daiz sur 13 avril 2015 - 06:16 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I might make a go of Cass or Josie. But if I take the time to roll another bro he's probably gonna get all the Dorian loving because it seems to be a more fleshed out romance arc. And if I do another female I'm sure I will romance Cullen.  The Cullenmance is just easy from a straight romantic relationship perspective.

Also, when I say "adulty", I meant that from a grown up perspective.  Sera just has a lot of child like qualities which makes romancing her a little...weird to me as a person who came to terms with being a grown ass adult almost 20 years ago. I guess a game needs a manic pixie dream elf action now and again.

Yeah, I started a Trevelyan for Cassandra a while back, but deleted him, since he was just way too pretty. And a bit too cookie-cutter. He ended up looking nearly identical to another one I'd made earlier, despite my efforts to make him look different. Oopsie. But yeah, out of any of the women, Cassandra is probably the most likely to make the cut. If I go there. Honestly, I've kinda lost my oompf for DAI atm.

I get you on the "adulty" thing. I'll be 42 in a couple of months, so some of the stuff I think you're referring to is a head-shaker for me, as well.

Oh, and here are the cookie cutter twins.

#18973821 Dorian discussion and appreciation thread

Posté par happy_daiz sur 13 avril 2015 - 04:14 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I'm almost done with my current PT.  I gotta say my Qunari romancing Sera is just not doing it for me. I like her but she is still kind of a brat and I dunno.. not adulty enough?  Not that it is bad, it just doesn't bring me the enjoyment of Dorian or Cullen.  Dorian did have a banter with Sera about their relationship though.  He used the word paramour and Sera was all WTF is that stop using big words!

My husband romanced Sera with his female Qunari. And he thought the romance was OMG TEH AWESOME. He saved some videos of it, and keeps harassing me to do a Sera/f!Adaar run, so he can show me his videos without spoilering, but I...I just can't do it.   I luv her as a friend, but I don't really wanna see her nekkid! Because yeah, she seems a little more immature than I'd like a paramour to be.

I haven't romanced any of the female characters at all. I don't know if I will. ;)

#18959309 Mabari Pet DLC!

I'd rather have another animal as a pet if Bioware did this. Like a Fennec Fox.

That's what I was thinking, too. D'aww.

Me too! Just looking through my album was enough to make me go, aww.  :D

#18958873 More Hair Styles Please...

Posté par happy_daiz sur 10 avril 2015 - 05:55 dans Feedback & Suggestions

I wasnt crazy about the hair choices in the first two games, but clearly they were way better than these. I honestly cant imagine what the heck the designers were thinking. As far as the clipping issue, I dont understand why Dragons Dogma had many long hairstyles (and bangs and decents facial hair BTW) and I didnt notice any bothersome clipping issues.

Oops, I meant to comment on this earlier. :)

There were clipping issues, but it became a low priority, once you realized you could swoosh your hair around. Yeah, it actually moved! I loved DD hair.   It was also nice that there were enough armor/cape/etc. options, to just switch to another one, if the clipping bothered you. With DAI, there aren't enough options to do that.

Some clipping and hair examples...

#18957826 So why was Varric in this game?

He's a bench-warmer in my game. So... he's just there for the Wicked Grace? ;)

Agreed. It would make things sooo much easier.

#18957649 More Hair Styles Please...

Posté par happy_daiz sur 10 avril 2015 - 03:04 dans Feedback & Suggestions

I wish they could just steal the hair from Destiny.

Or Saint's Row.

Or Dragon's Dogma.

Or Skyrim.

Or just about any game out there that HAS HAIR, that has done it better than they have.

If anything, it's gotten worse over the course of this series.

Heck, even the Final Fantasy games did it better, including the ones that have been out for ten years.

#18952062 Sandal in a DLC?

Posté par happy_daiz sur 09 avril 2015 - 03:50 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I would have liked a nod, similar to the dragon/Master Wade War Table mission, but that would be enough. No DLC or special appearance needed, for me.

#18951849 Would a Dragon age remastered edition be out of the question?

Posté par happy_daiz sur 09 avril 2015 - 03:07 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Maybe if it was packaged with all of the games and DLCs, including armor and weapon packs; along the lines of the Borderlands Handsome Collection (which, sadly, was missing BL1).

#18948300 Your inquisitor

Posté par happy_daiz sur 08 avril 2015 - 07:41 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Some characters just won't grab you, you know? I found that if I didn't spend much time in the cc, I didn't feel much of an investment to the character. They were just a little too cookie cutter for me.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

Arya Trevelyan, Knight Enchanter
Completed, 130 hours

Spoiler

Brienne Lavellan, Tempest DW
Completed, 125 hours
Spoiler

Niyaz Adaar, Artificer DW
In progress, around 100 hours
Spoiler

I have several that I've deleted. They looked ok, but I couldn't seem to get any ambition to play them.

#18947703 Would you like to see more of Val Royeaux?

Posté par happy_daiz sur 08 avril 2015 - 05:50 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Eh, maybe.

I would almost rather that Redcliffe be made larger. I can see houses and whatever else in the distance, and I really want to get to them. ;)

#18947568 Skyhold keep looks incomplete.

Posté par happy_daiz sur 08 avril 2015 - 05:20 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Yeah, we've discussed this topic before, but it still deserves conversation. I, too, wish we could fix up Skyhold.

I guess I was expecting more in the way of "upgrades". There is the garden, the tower, and the courtyard, so, three possible upgrades.

But I've found a gazillion quarries and lumber camps, and have nothing to do with them.

And there are whole sections of Skyhold that just sit there for the entire game, with no purpose. I have a hard time reconciling this in my mind, you know? I mean, I get it, but I don't like it. I would love to be able to make those extra rooms into something. I don't know what, but something.

...

On a similar note, I was sad to discover that there were only three keeps to capture. I really thought/hoped there would be one in each area. That aspect of the game was so much fun, I just wanted to keep doing it. :D

#18947331 More Hair Styles Please...

Posté par happy_daiz sur 08 avril 2015 - 04:25 dans Feedback & Suggestions

I would love it if BioWare would allow mod/user submissions for hair styles.

Not just a photo someone found on the internet, but the actual code used to make the mod. If it was something BW could just plug and play into the vanilla game, maybe it would be something they would support? Little work on their end, but high payoff for the players? Then push a patch out?

They could actually make a contest out of it. Top [x] number of hair styles, voted on by the community, make it into the game. Imagine the squees! :D

Just a thought.
