Hey all. I'm slightly surprised to see the amount of lithos you guys are trying to get rid of, but I too have been considering the purpose of my collection. I basically have everything between citadel and dead reaper, but they're all in mylar sheets and under my bed because I keep moving and don't want to invest in framing them and putting them up. I can't even say that I have all the ME lithos because I just kind of stopped caring once the huge runs started happening, as I remember us discussing on the old forum.

 

I guess I'll just hold on to them for a while, I kind of wish I bought the recent Liara, but as you guys said in the main discussion thread, the artwork is a bit meh. It sucks, because I talked to Derek Watts at PAX Prime a few years ago and he showed me and said a nicer Liara litho would come out, but oh well. I got the Saga litho as a way to close out my collection...I may care again when the new Mass Effect game comes out, or Shadow Realms, but I'm kind of left feeling conflicted over all this.

 

Just thought I'd share my thoughts in this thread since it seems others have gone through similar experiences. I don't think I'll ever sell my lithos on ebay (due to reasons similar to what has been discussed here), but if a friend or someone I knew wanted one quite badly, I'd probably sell it for close to buying price. Collection is just too expensive for me, and I also forever live with the fact that I didn't pick up Illium #1 on ebay when it ended up selling for under $100.

 

@Beocat - I have a real life friend that I deeply talk video games / fiction with, it's really interesting to share ideas with and listen to someone else, preferably with slightly different taste in media. How are you going about your networking? After parties and such? I generally find the average convention goer pretty unapproachable inside the expo building, as they're usually with friends (as am I), so meeting new people is very hard. Then again, other than the one PAX Prime I went to (which was amazing), I only go to Anime Expo in LA every year, and I must say that the average attendee (representative of average anime fan?) is really not a person who I am compatible with, personality-wise. I don't even watch that much anime, due to really only being interested in sci fi and a very narrow range of drama, while according to an AX poll one year, comedy was by a huge margin the most popular anime genre of the attendees. I'll never really accept Japanese comedy, as I believe too much is lost in translation in dialogue and puns, and slap stick is veeeeeeery unlikely to appeal to me. Basically the only comedic anime I've ever liked is GTO.

Well, I got back from Japan a week ago. Bought maybe 40 anime (and a few game) soundtracks. Not really sure what I can say in text form other than it was an interesting experience and I have a pretty good grasp of the culture and politics after two months. Could talk about it for a few hours though. Upon returning, I'm working on some playtesting of my friend's pen and paper rpg system, while also working on some cryengine game development.

 

NEOTOKYO was finally released on Steam, reviving the community. it's a free mod and has similar gameplay to Counter Strike, but has an awesome setting and mechanics inspired by Ghost in the Shell.

 

I've modded the crap out of my Skyrim, maybe 130 mods running and the game is relatively stable, I just wish my GPU had more than 2GB of VRAM. You can check my screenshots on Steam for some idea of what it looks like (for whoever doesn't have it, steamid: nutsforalmonds ). I've also modded New Vegas, but to a lesser extent. Also, use the nexus site for mods, not Steam workshop. All the adult content is in a separate part of the site, although some of the animations and models in there are obscenely (in both a technical and aesthetic sense) highly detailed.

 

I have one term left in college before graduating and hopefully getting a job in something related to game software engineering. I've had an interesting course building a 3D multiplayer game from scratch out of C++ with 6 other people, so that's motivated me to think I can actually get an entry level job somewhere. Obsidian is located near me, so that's probably my #1 goal for now. Over the next few months I'll try to get a game or two done for practice.

 

As for anime, you guys should check out Ping Pong, it's on Hulu. I'm no fan of sports dramas, but man is it solid, and the animation style is really unusual. Shin Sekai Yori is in my opinion one of the better sci fi dramas to have come out recently, give it a few episodes and see if it's for you (on Crunchyroll). Finally, I'm about to finally watch Welcome to the NHK, been on my backlog forever, and Kill la Kill, which I've just kind of been putting off.

 

Oh, and Terror in Resonance (Wanatabe directing, from Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo; Yoko Kanno music, from Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Kids on the Slope) is being simulcast now on Hulu, but I haven't started it yet. Animation is beautiful though.

Sounds pretty exciting! I saw the japanese voice actress for Sayaka from Madoka at Otakon two years ago, and some of the dub cast were at AX last year, although I don't really care for most dubs. Has anyone seen the movie?

 

I've recently subbed to Crunchyroll in an attempt to catch up on some shows I've missed in the past few years...whatever's on Crunchy at least. I wish Funimation didn't use Hulu. Anyways, two shows I really like are Xam'd and Shin Sekai Yori. They both gave me a new hope for amazing storytelling in anime, but I would recommend not reading any information about either really, just the first four episodes to see if you enjoy it.

 

Also, if anyone is familiar with Kickheart, the same director has a new show that Funimation is simulcasting called Ping Pong. Even if you don't care whatsoever about ping pong or sports dramas, it's very entertaining in its art style and dialogue.

Does anyone know what characters will become the $330 statues?

I've been on media blackout due to not wanting spoilers. I haven't even watched E3 things. I am super excited based on what my friends have said. I'll be playing a new save and trying to get through all three.

I really don't care how well it is rolled up, flat is better. Period.

I'd have to disagree on that. They got the rolled up shipping pretty good right before they switched to flat, and it's been bent corners all the way since then.

There are more than 255 people trying to get the litho, and if you spam the resubmit button it just keeps throwing you to the back of the line. You have to just let it load.

Yeah, I preferred the random order too, and I was one of the early people... There's still the second release if you missed out.

I highly doubt someone will be up at 5am to put the lithos online when it's been 5pm all the previous releases. Regardless, we will almost certainly have clarification sometime later today.

I didn't go to class to get the 3 pack during its original release. Worth it. Also, I was actually studying for a final while waiting, just hitting f5 every so often, and I caught Miranda up, so you can do plenty of things while waiting.

I still wonder who would wear that Newton shirt in public, despite its hilariousness.

Antique, you could have asked someone here who already had Legion and Miranda to get them for you if you wanted them that badly. It's worked for others in the past.

I think Normandy was made just to be a litho, so the artist painted the whole scene, then that was lithographed (is that the verb?). Also, this debate was had before minis came out, and pretty much the same conclusion was reached then: People who missed a litho wanted full size unsigned lithos, but people who had them obviously didn't. Being in the second camp myself, I think the posters above speak for my point of view.
