#14447666 People need to understand something about Ash

Since she never survived passed Virmire for me, I don't know her character very well, but watching some of the youtube videos regarding her. Her tone is a bit more aggressive in compared to Kaidan. I could understand the dislike. I'm not saying she deserves the hate. I say I can understand it. At this point, both sides need to stop bringing one while talking about the other. It sounds like a broke record now.

Kaidan may have never survived passed Virmire for me but he and Ash were my fav squadmates in the original game and i took them both whenever i could.
Its not about 'both sides', most people who dislike Kaidan don't like Ashley either.
They just rather get rid of the boring guy then the annoying girl, yet Kaidan fans seem to often enter those discussions stating how much better he is and yet not getting the point that the people often insulting him dont like Ash either.

Everytime someone wants to praise Ashley, they feel the need to put down Kaidan for some reasons.

More often it's the other way around, if you looked through this thread you would have seen more people putting down Ashley and praising Kaidan.

Every couple of days you would see a thread bashing Ashley not Kaidan, eventhough both have almost identical situations throughout the game.

#14446402 is ashleys scene in the citadel dlc that bad

I wouldn't say it was a retcon of her personality. After all in Mass Effect the only glimpse you get of Ashley's love life is if Shepard romances her. Almost nothing about her dating history prior to Shepard is known. Just because Ashley can be involved in a serious relationship with Shepard and took things more slowly, doesn't mean that she always goes that route. I don't think you can draw many conclusions just based on one relationship.

Unlike Liara and Tali, i know that Ashley wasn't a Virgin before she met shepard.
That doesn't change the fact that her character if unromanced starts giggling like a school girl when she
stated before "..I'm not some giggling school girl" in ME 1".
Im sorry i just don't agree with that, even Tali's 'romance' with garrus i found completely out of place.
It seems like most side relationships were just made for the giggles.
Even in the lair of the shadowbroker you could get Liara to make a move on Feron if i remember correctly.

Well, at least an unromanced Ash gets Vega. It was obvious he had a thing for her ... don't mess with the Commanders girl, Vega. ;)

I don't think a casual one night flight counts as a relationship but if you meant sex then yes atleast before the war ended she got laid.

Ashley does both of those things with Vega.

If she isn't an LI she can end up having a casual fling with Vega (loud party), and she is both aggressive and all about PDA.

I guess in the end, it was a dlc which completely helped change her personality then.=]

nitpicking much, aren't we?

No he's right, her character in the last two games has been different then when she was in ME1.
The fact that her writer didn't even write her when he was still on the ME2 team gives me a lot more questions regarding her treatment througout the last two games.

#14420270 How is Ashleys romance content in CITADEL DLC? A couple of questions UPDATED

Posté par M4N0FF4I7H sur 06 mars 2013 - 09:48 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I agree that Ashley got less content then them but Ashley's overall romance in that dlc was great.
Apart from that scene, nothing else throughout the dlc was really 'subpar' with her romantic content.
She refers to you throughout the dlc as being in a relationship with and the scene in question happens during the dlc unlike the others which happen after it ended.

So the scene where Shepard and Ashley taking shots was it? If so, that was pretty disappointing. Kaidan's was better I have to admit.

Ashley's scene was a reference to star wars actually.
Kaidan's scene may have been better but the overall romance dialogue/sequences for Ashley throughout the dlc is great.

Cons:
--My Ash romance was either bugged or I did something wrong...played after the Citadel Coup, Ash is on the Normandy, but her and Vega decided to go in to another room together lol.  It sucked.

You have to complete her romance arc, as in go on a date with her on the citadel in the vanilla game to lock in the romance otherwise she isn't attached to your shepard.

It was a fun dlc nonetheless.

#14419236 Citadel romance BUG?

Posté par M4N0FF4I7H sur 06 mars 2013 - 07:51 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Turns out there isn't a bug, some characters can be invited to your place while the others are met on the citadel.
Certain characters have two meetings like Cortez, Samantha, Miranda etc.
Just make sure you complete Ashley's romance arc as in go on the date with her in the normal game and seal the romance otherwise Vega will be putting the moves on her later on.

It seems that the invites are staggered out. Remember this is available right after the Cerberus attack so that you would come back every now and then. Idk if you need to return to Normandy to move it along or do a mission to trigger. If someone from Bioware can answer and clear this up, please do so.

I returned to the normandy multiple times, each time triggering a different set of emails.
I never got an invite email from Ashley or Garrus.

As stated by Saito, Ashley might have one bugged scene but her overall content in the dlc was alright.
No idea about kelly chambers sadly, she never even showed up throughout the dlc but it might be because i didn't have her feed my fish in ME2.
Not sure exactly how long it is but i spent well over 5 hours in the dlc but i was taking my sweet time with it.

I've been unable to invite Ashley, Garrus or Jack and my save is right before cronos station.

Yes, it will be released on March 6th for us, and probably during the very early hours of the morning. BioWare will get into work in Edmonton when it's around ~3am (give or take an hour) the morning of March 6th for us, but naturally it will take awhile until someone flips the switch. I'm in Melbourne and have found the DLC sometimes becomes active (on Origin) around 5am. But we'll see.

It will be the 6th for us though, yes.

The dlc comes out on Origin at 5am over here but it comes out on the xbox much earlier right?
8 hours earlier if im correct.

When the main plot is actually one of the worst things about the series, sure. How is ME3 detached?

ME1 drew me in with the sense of scale and exploration. Character interactions were also a large part of the deal for me. Ditto for ME2. ME3 largely did away with the former and severely reduced the latter, instead devoting almost entirely to the cuttlefish.

The Reapers are an interesting concept, but terrible main villains. They would serve better as a backdrop for one of the miscellaneous planet descriptions from ME1, those were always colorful and fun to read.

ME3 to me feels detached as i feel like im fighting against The Illusive Man and his evil cronies more so then the reapers especially at key story points.
Everything that ME2 supposedly built in terms of a gray character and organisation goes out the window and
we are left with a typical villain seeking power.

If the story was not supposed to be just set for 3 games then i could understand the detour that was ME2 but it isn't. ME2 might have been a better prequel to the trilogy rather then a sequel.

I vehemently disagree that ME3 had a "great" story.

ME3 is essentially DAO, but in space when in ones to the main plot.

The Reaper plot is probably the weakest aspect of the trilogy for me, because its been done so many times. Bioware's goal with ME was to create an expansive, colorful universe for the player to interact with, so why shoehorn in space-LOTR as your main plot? That's one reason why ME2 is my personal favorite, because it detaches itself from the Reapers. They are still present, but they aren't the focus.

Seriously? Detaching from the plot is a good thing? Wasn't that the problem of ME3?
I understand why Mass Effect 2 to some people is the best game of the series but to me its the worst.
Its not the characters or the lack of characters that makes me dislike it, it's the fact that it fails to be a sequel of the original game.
