#18587682 Present yourself, your art preferences, etc

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 12 février 2015 - 10:16 dans Cullenite Beginner Artists Group

Thought I would join the party. :)

Art Level & Experience: Moderate

Been drawing on and off since I was a child. For the last 10 years been working with Maya & Photoshop creating 3D models/textures etc. It's only been the last year that I have progressed back into non-digital art. So from a non digital stand-point, I would probably class myself as a beginner again.

Preferred Medium:

There are so many I use. Wacom tablet, Copics, Coloured Pencils (Prismacolors, S.Noir, Luminance, Inktense, Polychromos), Gesso, Gelatos, Inks, Photoshop, Pencil & Paper, Watercolours..

I have a slight obsession with coffee, copics and coloured pencils.

Oh and I have two black Labradors and stole QweenBeen's Muffins.

I didn't even notice his feet & his pointy boots until you mention that!

Oh my, who's his fashion designer seriously? Bet that it's some Orlesian... :P

Funnily enough that was the first thing I noticed when I played the game. Now I try where possible to avoid looking at his feet.  :D

Those pointy elf-boots have bothered me from day one - every time I see them I picture him dressed up as Santa's little helper...

I have to agree. They are awful!

Drops by.

Hope everyone is well. Haven't been by as much as I want to. Had to get some actual work done over the last few days and stop procrastinating. Still working on my FanFic though. Almost at 10,000 words. :)

DLC cannot come quick enough. I don't think I can manage an 8th playthrough without some new content.

English Female. Haven't tried out the male voices yet, so cannot comment on those.

#18561428 The Thank you thread!

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 08 février 2015 - 04:21 dans General Discussion (NO Spoilers)

I support the idea of this thread.  The game is far from perfect, but it's still a great game with great characters and I appreciate the work that development team put into making it.  Thanks to all of the dev team!

Agreed.

#18561423 Prequel or sequel? Thoughts?

Sequel.

#18561237 We, the PC Community aka Beta Team Alpha, demand free DLC

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 08 février 2015 - 03:52 dans Feedback & Suggestions

I am a PC player/gamer. I certainly hope you are including me in this "We". I am getting sick of you people lumping all PC players together. Yes, there are SOME PC players that are having issues with this game and yes it needs to be addressed. Along with the issues that are affecting other platforms.

I have played 874 hours of this game with no issues, so why therefore would I demand free DLC?

The difference being is that I don't go around starting threads in every section titled "WE PC players are loving this bug free game you developed and we represent the entire PC Community"

You nor I can speak for every PC player out there.

#18560627 Are your canon Hawke and Warden both mages?

Agreed. It just looks so unattractive.

#18555983 What do you do to ease DA yearning?

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 07 février 2015 - 06:22 dans General Discussion (NO Spoilers)

Unlike alot on here i do not yearn to play BioWare games, what i do yearn for is my first "next-gen" title which hopefully might be released this year

EA made it a bit complicated for PC users to purchase Bioware DLC, as they are not even offered for sale on the Origin store.

Yes, they are.

#18536369 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 04 février 2015 - 10:20 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Okay guys. I want to portray this accurately, but it's hard since I haven't played through the romance. I don't want to watch YT videos because I don't want to spoil myself. But maybe y'all can answer some brief, vague questions.

1. Does Cullen make the first move? Or does the inquisitor?

2. Is he shy or reluctant at first?

3. Anything else you can tell me to make their first encounter seem authentic? And by "encounter" I mean simple admission of feelings.

1. The inquisitor.

2. Yes, a little unsure given his position and the fact it is the inquisitor, but he has thought what it would be like.

3. Will have to have a think about that one, possibly others might be able to expand on that better than I.

Aha I did have a present tense story, but it was not the one I thought it was! It was actually my entry for the Asunder fanfiction contest!! I totally forgot about this story! https://www.fanficti...ull-Many-a-Rose

It's sad so don't read if depressed :P

EDIT: I lied, I have two present tense stories, but the other is an anime fanfic.

Cool. Will go have read. xx

#18530908 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 03 février 2015 - 11:10 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I loved him in DA2 and hoped he'd play a bigger role (he did near the end), but after getting to see a more personal side of him (since he stopped running away, unless you flirt with him lol) I realized he's the best choice for a LI and good friend. I met Steve Blum last year and he told me about Greg Ellis and what a great guy he is and actor, and he loved his work in DA as Cullen too! Lol

He's not a Disney Prince like some say though. He went through so much pain and confusion and did many wrong things that he's still paying for, but just because his romance doesn't end in deception or being dumped, doesn't mean it's all roses either. You are basically romancing a guy who had pretty bad mental issues and an addiction, and it made him more human to me that way. I really love how his character grew and changed based on his exp and he became a stronger man who could finally initiate a kiss! Lol

Couldn't agree more.

#18530884 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 03 février 2015 - 11:06 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Ah, that may be why. Try to change some sentences into past tense and see if you like it better.

Well...now I feel like some creeper who is watching characters in my story interact, with binoculars pressed to my face.

I played the same way you do with ME. I always played MShep and as a female, I could not relate to him as well I as do with female characters. So I always felt like I was watching his story as opposed to it being my story.

Freak!!!!!

Present tense, wow. That's a pretty daring choice. Fiction is so rarely in present tense. I think I have one story in present tense.

Teehee

#18530839 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 03 février 2015 - 10:57 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Well, what tense are you using? Present or past? I find third person a little odd in present tense, so if you do write in third person...past tense is something that I find easier to understand/flow better.

Present tense.

I've written both my Hawke and inquisitor stories in first person, I guess because I'm used to playing the game from that perspective, plus I think it's easier for readers to relate to a first person Hawke or inquisitor instead of third person... but in most other cases, I write in third person.

I agree, I am use to essentially becoming the character, not being an outside observer, if that makes sense.

#18530786 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par Sailfindragon sur 03 février 2015 - 10:47 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I prefer writing and reading third person, but that isn't to say that first person is wrong or anything. Just think about how you want your story to come across to yourself and your readers.

I have written it in third. It just feels odd to me, something I am not use too. :)

It depends.

If your telling the story from your character's perspective then first is the way to go.

If your telling the story as a whole, then third person.

I uh, hope that makes sense.

It's from a character perspective. :)

Which way is better to write. First or third person? I am so use to writing in first. :)

Apologies for being slightly off Cullen topic.

1320 words written so far. Quite enjoying it. Although way out of my comfort zone. I studied Science, Maths & Physics at uni and am a huge Art geek. Written English was never a strong skill for me. But hey, got to start somewhere.

OK seriously I am off to work...bleh
