You know, after watching many reviews, lot of reviews brought up the fact that Suicide Squad seems to be missing pieces here and there a they were cut from theatrical version.

This made me think that DC should start releasing full on Blu-Ray/DvD movie as that way we could get them full. Not these "coating for cut room floors" version we see in theaters.

Well, I watched the Suicide Squad today and before I start watching any reviews, here's my opinion.

Suicide Squad was.....

shrugging-shoulders-meme.jpg?w=300&h=196

It wasn't bad..... but it wasn't awesomely good either. Definitely not what many people had been hoping for.

Now, there are lot of good in this movie. Action is great (and there is lot of it) and its fitting for all the characters (i.e, Deadshot uses weapon, Harley uses her bat/gun and Katana uses her sword). There was also real humor here and there and it did work (at least for me).

Also, Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis did amazing job with their characters. Not to a degree like Robert Downey jr. as Iron Man or Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, because they weren't instant fit. But Will Smith and Margot Robbie could were well end up like Chris Evans ad Chris Hemsworth and really grow to be their characters with more movies.

It's mainly for Smith's and Robbie's performance that made me actually care about their characters through out the movie. Only a third act and the closer to end of it gave any reason to care of other characters and even that was only Katana and Rick Flag's character.

Actually, anything good in this movie was character driven, be it actual character or actors performance in their roles....for most parts, at least.

But the negatives or should I say issues.

Largest one, and most off-putting part, was how the movie was put together. Especially the first act. There was so much goverment talks (secret or open) and so many flashbackish character introductions that the real story got lost. Though what hurt the story most, was two other things: Everything with Joker and main villain.

Let's start with villain. Simply said DC did Marvels with the villain(s). They are so weak, not in sense of power, but the meaning and purpose for their action. They also simply went for worn out "Destroy the world" cliche.

And Joker. *shakes head*

I'm not going to blame Leto for Joker issues, because it was his interpretation of the character and not totally bad.

Because the real problem with the Joker in this movie: There. was. no. single. reason. for. him. being. in. the .movie!

This movie didn't need Joker. He had one, I repeat one, reason for being in this movie and it's Harley. Not going in details, but let's just say anyone who knows these two characters, they know about the "romance" between them.

Other than this, Joker didn't give or add anything to the movie. Suicide squad would have been totally fine without him. That's the worst insult you do for the character. To have a character, just for the sake of having them. And that's exactly what happened here. They just wanted to add Joker so they could say or more like advertise him being in the movie.

Joker's role in this movie is actually even worse than what Wonder Woman's role was in BvS. At least she did play part in end fight, but Joker role in movie didn't even give that (all it gave was material for Joker/Harley shippers really).

And that's sad, so damn sad. To waste a character for nothing.

For a summary. Suicide squad movie do have good parts in it, as being bad can be good and fun. But it also had lot of weak parts and some of those hurts the movie really much.

So, Suicide Squad movie is just decent. Good summer movie, but won't be what DC movie universe really wanted/needed.

Next and probably last hope for DC is incoming Wonder Woman movie.

Edit: Forgot to mention, there is mid-credit scene in the movie, which is quite important in grand scale of things.

One thing that bothers me about that version of the Flash is that his lightning is blue instead of orange/red. Even his symbol of a lightning bolt is closer to that primary color, so what gives?

They obviously want to make their movies Flash different from TV version. And what's better way to do that than visual way for Flash effects?

Of course, this kind of color also fits much better for Snyders darker color palette.

Goyer did write the final screenplay, but always with the director and producers keeping an eye on him and having the last word on the core of the story. And Snyder himself is one of the coordinators and producers of the whole DC Cinematic Universe, thought now they've got some actual comic book writers and artists also to oversee things better.

So it's safe to say that Snyder, Goyer and whoever else thought that making the DCCU a dark, glooming and Bat-centric thing, would deserve to be blamed in equal measure.

Well, pretty much all of Snyder movies had been dark themed, seriously dark. So, it's not surprising they did it with BvS. Then there is the fact that the movie was based on Dark Knight returns, which itself is pretty dark (excluding Superman ofc). Lastly, there was Nolan's recent Batman trilogy, which was hugely successful and dark. It was also made by same studio, which makes me think that they thought this darker theme would be good and was part of Nolan's Batman's success.

So, there were many factors affecting to this darker DCCU theme they seems to have going on now. And to be honest, it's not really this dark and glooming feel that's the real problem. Real issue with BvS was simply that Snyder, and seemingly Goyer, sucks at telling a story.

This newest Wonder Woman trailers is great example of this. I mean, WW movie seems to dark and glooming too, but not just for sake of being dark like BvS. There is reason for it in WW movie as it's setting on world war one era.

Still, it's rather safe to say by now that Snyder wasn't best director for BvS movie. In the hands of someone else, BvS could have been so much better.

Knowing Snyder, I'm betting Loise Lane gets accidentally killed during the movie, and the newly resurrected Superman after disposing of Steppenwolf in an outburst of rage ends up blaming the JLA for her death and joins Darkseid, ending the movie on a cliffhanger and fullfilling that oh so subtle and clever dream/vision/foreshadowing that was laid about him becoming evil and Loise being the "key".

Well, if something like this do happen, you can't blame Snyder for it. It will be writers fault, if that do happen.

Speaking of writers, seems like they have got rid of David Goyer totally, as Chris Terrio had made screenplay alone. And I'm happy about this as Goyer sure didn't do all that good work in previous two movies.

Also, to make it clear, I have zero hope for Snyder doing good job.

But I would like to think that right now Snyder isn't actually running the show. What happened with BvS was mainly his fault (thought seems like Goyer paid the highest price here) and everyone knows it. Because of this, I think Snyder will either willingly and be forced to listen others in his team, which gives me hope for this movie. It could be even that Snyder is just a director in name only, which seems even likely so far.

After all, even Wonder Woman movie looked colorless in times and used greyer color options in many cases. That's not even mentioning upcoming Suicide Squad, which too seem to use darker color themes. Now, two other DC movies, which had nothing to do with Snyder, seems to indicate that darker themes ain't just a Snyder thing. But a general theme, approved by studio.

JLA... it's exactly how I expected it to be. They put some jokes and some fancy music in the trailer, but if you take a closer look you see all the Snyder tropes are still in place. Most of the scenes are in grey or desaturated colors, nobody has a meaningful conversation with their costumes on, and it already feels like Batman and His Amazing Friends. Also how cute... not even a tease about Superman, for those 3 people that really think he's not coming back lol

Well, you can't expect too much from this one. This is after all a teaser trailer. After only 3 months of filming. To that effect, this looks really damn good. Still, I do agree with you about it feeling like Batman and his multitude of friends.

As for Superman, who cares really? I mean, we know he will come back, so no point to tease it. Most likely Superman will just have short entrance at first part, maybe just a long haired and bearded man entering Batcave at at the end.

Well, that actually looked kind of nice. Still dark themed, but at least there seemed to be some humor there.

Though not sure about the implication on Bruce revealing his Batman identity to Flash just like that. But oh well.

Bright colors in the DCCU? Witchcraft!

Well, Wonder Woman movie is basically her origin story, so of course it's in colors.

But just wait. As the movie will progress and Wonder Woman loses her hope for humanity or something because of WW1, the colors will be gone and dark and edge will be back.  Just like it was in BvS.

I think they're showing too much.

I don't think this means good things for suicide squad movie. They are showing way too much in hope to get people interested, but it had opposite effects really.

And this is something that I don't really understand. Why do they think on Hollywood that all of these trailers and tv spots are necessary?

I mean, I for one would like to go watch the movie in theathers and be surprised of what I see. Not knowing everything before from trailers and tv spots. Especially as these usually spoils the whole movie.

Sony should just stop. They have already lost this battle and everything they do now is just making the movie look worse. But they keep trying and trying, while at the same time basting themselves in oil to burn more spectacularly.

Well, saw Independence Day: Resurgence today and it was...... *shrugs*

There were good, bad and "no, they just didn't do that" moments in there. Overall, movie was entertaining, but it just didn't managed to capture the feel of the first one. Sure, even that movie was cheesy for most part, but at least in there you felt the incoming doom and possible destruction of humanity.

But with resurgence, I never really got that feeling at all. Part of it was because I knew, who will win at the end. But majority reason was that I just didn't buy the whole end fight at all.

Also, there were way too many characters there. Actually, there were so many of them that you just didn't feel for them.

But like I said, it was entertaining popcorn movie. However, the movie did one thing right. I actually want a sequel, based on what happened in the end. There is huge potential for creating a much larger space scifi world in there.

Saw Warcraft yesterday.

It's a good movie, I give it 7 out of 10.

Yeah, saw Warcraft today too and it's entertaining movie. There were never a moment, when I was bored.

Sure, movie wasn't without problems, biggest being that it was just Humans, who where really doing anything from alliance side. That was real bummer, especially to me, who likes Night elves and Draenei (too early for them yet, I know).

Still, the movie sure ain't as bad as critics are making it be.

Thanks to what Flash did recently, that means none of the events of Flash season 1 & 2 happened, or Arrow season 3 & 4, or Legends of Tomorrow season 1. So Ra's al Ghul is still alive, Vandal Savage is still alive, Reverse Flash/Thawn is still alive, Eddie didn't sacrifice himself, the Earth 1 Harrison Wells didn't die, Earth 2 never crossed over, the first half of Firestorm didn't die, Grodd is still on Earth 1, Zoom's still terrorizing Earth 2, Barry didn't grow up with the Wests… its a giant reset button. Unless he goes back and undoes what he did.

Wait?! They really did this in Flash season 2?

Well, way to mess up everything that there was. This feels like ME3 endings. Everything you learned to like and care during 2 seasons of Flash and Arrow is now useless.

*sigh*

It sure does give more story potential, but damn.

Agreed... is just a publicity stunt exploiting the easy to outrage internet crybabies. It IS a d!ckmove but... if people are dumb enough to fall for it, I can't put all the blame on Marvel either.

The memes that came out of it are fun though = P

Problem here is that news like this adds a taint to the character. It's especially bad as they are making it look like this "Hydra Steve" is real and had always been Hydra agent. With this, it doesn't matter, if it's true or stays like this forever. It's a taint, that leaves unwashable mark to some people.

What makes this matter especially problematic, is the fact, that this change hits a nerve in still really touchy subject for many. I mean, with this change, they are essentially making it look like Captain America, who was created by two jews during World war II part of Hydra, which represents Nazis.

To many, it doesn't matter how this story arc might end. What matters is that they made this new arc seem a canon with their retconning of Steve Rogers character. It's taint, that could ruin the character forever to some people.

Good example of this matter is ME3 and it's endings. There is no denying that endings were bad. But to some, those endings where so bad that they totally ruined the whole experience of other parts of ME3 or maybe even the whole franchise. You could endlessly argue, if this is true or not, but it doesn't matter if it is or not. What matters here is what people feels.

This same thing is happening now with this "Hydra Steve" news. Only exception is that it's happening in much grander scale as Captain America, and what he represents, has longer history. So yeah, I can understand why people go crazy over this, no matter how it might end.

Three words for you, WB: FIRE! ZACK! SNYDER!

They should fire everyone, who was responsible of creative process of BvS. So, basically Snyder, Terrio, Goyer and everyone on Warners Bros, who thought it was good idea to green light the version we saw in theathers.

That's the thing, I thought both of them were in the right during the entire movie. Steve believes in the freedom of choice and that the governments that wants to control powerful individuals might end up making a decision for them that they don't like or outright abuse them, while Tony believes that people with great powers should be under some kind of authority so that they don't hurt people, accident or not. I guess that's why he was drawn towards Spider-Man. Great power comes with great responsibility and all that. These arguments are also sort of visualized throughout the movie, where it's shown what happens if you give people too much freedom or when you try to lock them up in what basically is a jail cell for the greater good.

It also gets very personal on both sides near the end, which makes it even more difficult for me to decide.

You can't just wash away the blood of innocent people, but at the same time, you shouldn't bury those who have the ability to make a difference under a mountain of red tape so that they can't do the right thing in time.

Maybe I'm too indecisive, but I still enjoyed the movie to a great length because it was thoroughly thought out.

I felt pretty much the same. Both sides are right and wrong at the same time. But what they did throughout the movie was brilliant. Because there are many moments, when you as audience might change your side. It's also not just audience, whom might change their opinion during the movie as there are certain moments in there, when characters themselves are thinking of their own side/decisions.

However, if I have to choose side, then I'm partial for cap's side. I can perfectly understand Tony's argument and necessary for someone to control super powered individuals. But problem is, there is no one of who can be used for this control and cap says it perfectly in early part of the movie. If you think of caps words and then how things works in real life, especially in recent years, it's easy to understand.

That being said, cap isn't totally right either. Some of cap's motivations in this movie are more on the selfish side, which will have effect on things.

Alright, saw Captain America: Civil war today and wow :o . Civil war is really damn good and it got it all. Humor, drama, conflict and story and characters that makes you feel for them. Civil war also shows how to do adaptation from comics, something that Snyder sure didn't get the memo.

Of course, movie ain't without flaws, but unlike with recent BvS, those flaws doesn't jump in your face and are so inconsequential that it won't affect the experience. Besides, my largest complain isn't so much of what was in the movie, but what was not there.

But some real highlights.

Spider-Man: I have heard lot of good about his part and for a good reason. Finally we get joke cracking Spidey amongst all the action.

Ant-Man: If you have liked him so far, you will do even more so after Civil war. They also do something with his character, which sure will change the future of the character in MCU. Like it or not, it sure sure provided awesome moments for fight  in the movie.

Zemo as villain: He is best MCU villain so far. Why I'm saying MCU is because it's exactly that. Zemo and his plan was something that MCU needed badly. Change. Without going too much into details, his plan is so different from all other villains, that it's refreshing and goes against one of the largest complains about MCU movies.

Airport fight: Brilliant. Best fight scene in all MCU movies. Though slight complain here is that they all fight, but not really. Still really awesome scene.

Also, I can't help but wonder if Civil war crew did this on purpose or not, CA:CW is total "in your face BvS and DC". That is, Civil war and BvS had so many similarities, either direct or parallel. But where BvS failed miserably with some of them, CW succeed with flying colors. Simply said, CW is everything that BvS tried to be, but failed.

"Possible Episode VIII Leaks/Rumors: So I found this over on a link on Yahoo. Has some potential spoilers for Episode VIII. The odds of these happening are pretty much nonexistent…but…"

Spoiler

Yeah, I hope they don't go there. This is way too mainstream and common for Star Wars universe already. I mean, we already had one chosen one, Anakin. You could even argue that Luke was technically chosen one too, as he being last Jedi literally brought the force back to the universe.

Now, if they just use Rey to bring balance again, it's way too repetitive.

They should simply make Rey daughter of Luke and maybe some other jedi or force sensitive female, who died when Kylo and his knights attacked the temple. It would be even better, if Luke wouldn't even know about Rey at all and he would later find out that she is his daughter.

Alas, I can actually see them going in this rumor direction.

Has that concept ever been explored in depth in a movie before? Aliens invade, we kick their asses and then the movie shows a world post-invasion where we've taken their technology and integrated it into our own.

I don't think this had been done before and definitely not to this extent. Interesting point actually.

Warcraft is probably the best chance videogames movies to work right now, but considering how much CGI it has, I'm kinda surprised that Blizzard didn't just got thei're amazing animators department and had them putting togheter a full lenght movie. Sure it would cost alot of money and take longer than a live action to make, but it would be awesooome.

Indeed. So far most successful video game movies had been Resident evils, Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia. From all of those, only Resident evil: Afterlife can be considered real success. 60 million budget and nearly 300 million worldwide. Granted, rest of Resident evil movies did rather well too, considering they made 2-3 times as much money as their production budget. But they haven't been really huge hits either.

Still, video game movies are doing whole lot better than anime/manga live action adaptations, especially those made in Hollywood. "Best" examples of this being Last Airbender and Dragonball: Evolution. *shakes head*

But I agree. Blizzard could very well go Marvel and decide to make their own movie studio. They could get so much out of WOW that way.

Abrams lies all the time to stir the ****.

Take any and everything he says with a massive dose of salt.

Yes, well there is that.

But in this case, there must be some truth in there, especially in original "Rey's parents not being in episode VII" part. Whole case feels like some higher up got worried after that comment and made Abrams to clear it up some by making comment that leaves everything still open. But I guess we will see.

Although the mistery about her parents and why she was left on Jakku makes me suspect thei're gonna play it safer and just have her being Luke's daughter, or something similar.

Well, in search of original article, I run into other theories and speculations too. One of them being that it was Kylo who left Rey in the Jakku, which obviously means he knows her. This theory seems to lie in few comments of Rey during the movie and some form of novelizations of the movie too (no idea what it is).

But at least this theory makes much more sense than some people wanting romance between Rey and Kylo and that being Kylo's path to the light. *sigh* I guess each on their own, but really. *shakes head*

Be that as it may, this Abrams comment just means that people will "view mine" their SWTFA dvd/blu-rays even further than ever before.
