I get saltier about this every day.  I suspect by the 26th I will be 100% salt.

I haven't been active on these forums since DA:I, but I was very much looking forward to Andromeda's release when I could get back into it and engage with fellow fans. I wouldn't mind at all if Bioware completely dropped their fan engagement here and just had a moderator to check in on things without talking to us. The discussions I've had on this board with fans (and the previous Bioware forum) are the most satisfying I've had over any other game forum. I could have long-winded yet logical discussions about how the ME3 ending pissed me off but at the same time discuss the strategies and how awesome the ME3 MP was. I met a group of friends where we formed our own forum group and had off-topic and gaming discussions. Now it will all be burned to the ground for reasons I still don't understand.

 

I was an active member of the gaming forum on Rotten Tomatoes, and literally the last 5 years of its existence there were probably at most 50 active members on there, and so many times the forums were going to be shut down but for the effort of the moderators there. There wasn't even a link to the forums from the home page but they still managed to keep it alive because they knew it was important for that small group of people. I don't know how much it costs to keep these servers up, but I bet you if they bothered to ask a lot of fans would help moderate for free.

 

I suppose this is par for the course with Bioware's online actions. First they shut down and migrated the previous Bioware forum and transferred here with minimal warning. My friends and I were all scrambling to find each other again. Then they shut down the Romance threads. Then they got rid of Off-Topic. I feel like we never returned to the glory of the original forums, so maybe this speeds up what they would have done to the forums in the end anyway.

 

I just want to thank everyone here who I ever had a nice or funny discussion with, and I hope that by the final death of this forum we all find a new singular place where we can continue to engage with each other.

I only had mine to follow game devs, I rarely ever tweet.  I think I may get rid of it now.  [insert major snark tone]I can use the forums for Ubisoft and CDPR  [end major snark tone]

It seems you didn't notice, I didn't direct anyone to any site in particular at all.  I only stated what I know for fact.  I have seen the person running that board in action for 6+yrs and I only advised caution.  If you don't want to heed my advice, that is purely your call.

I have picked a few sites to frequent.  None of them are that board.  But I'm not floating from thread to thread telling people where they should pick and in fact that was my only post warning about the board you are directing people to.

Thanks for putting so much effort into this project. Having zero technical expertise myself, I can't imagine how monumental this is. At any rate, I appreciate that you are taking your time to set up the forums. I have a good feeling about the longevity of what you are setting up. 

 

And, Kaidan Fan, look forward to seeing your thread. Might have to give the ME trilogy a run through just for the Kaidan feels. 

You will not regret it.  It's probably my favorite BioWare romance!  I started the threads over there but I haven't been back to add to them yet.  My daughter just got home from band camp and my other daughter is returning from Kentucky tomorrow so I will be on for short bursts of time.  I will try to get more up over the next week. If that's okay with fexelea!

Yes, she's left these forums dramatically many times.

I started to say more, but I'll just leave it at, I'm keeping my distance.  I want people to go where they'll be happy.  Just be careful.

A scraper is a bot that goes through a site copying all of its contents.

 

Normally they are used maliciously by bad people to steal content.

 

In this case, it would be used for good and justice

I hate to post against the flow, but right now many people are angry,

the forum closure is a poor and foolish move.

 

I do hope MEA is terrific and if so, yes I will be buying it at the first opportunity if that is so.

If it is not, I will feel empowered to say so too.

 

I can already see that there will be an unofficial or re-built BSN in the future, for us to go.

And when the time comes, I hope it will be a sufficiently non-toxic place that even BioWare folk would feel comfortable popping into.

It's okay to be mad, but I believe most of us came here because of our love of one BioWare game or another.  We have that in common.  Don't ruin what time is left being jerks. 

We can remember what we loved/love about BioWare even if they have mostly forsaken us

Besides "respectful" is a relative term. Relative to how I'm really feeling. For example, right now I'm feeling pretty disrespectful. There are alot of things I want to say. So, the mighty effort I'm employing to communicate respectfully may still have a little Bite to it.  But compared to what I really want to say, it's pretty darn respectful...trust.

 

It won't make a difference. They did this with OT.  They did not change their minds about that despite the feedback. Pages and pages.

 

There is a part of me that thought along the lines of @FieryPhoenix in that maybe this is a forum "reboot".  And everything will be nice and shiny, etc for ME:A and what comes next. But why not just say that then?

 

So, yeah. I think I'd like to see a poll where people are going. So far all I see are Reddit; RDF; VSN and TSG..?

 

Such a shame, but they apparently... just really don't like us. lol! I mean, I thought they did, sort of, even though we got on their nerves. But hey, they got on my nerves, too--I still liked them, though.

 

I saw that tweet from Gaider. Then I saw Priestly respond with a "Bye Felicia" and a winky face. Gaider liked the comment. Honestly, it just feels like BioWare doesn't even care about the fans anymore.  I've loved their games for so long.  I've almost always been a positive supporter and when I had problems I stated them respectively and then let it go. 

Now I feel like, why should I even bother to be a customer?  They obviously don't care about the fans.  Some of us can't afford to travel the world over to attend cons.  Some of us don't like reddit/tumblr/twitter.  My FB is personal, I'm not using it to comment on their stuff and have ppl creep my page and I'm not making a 2nd one.  So, I guess that's all my problem now.

The first thing my brother-in-law (who doesn't play much bioware stuff and hasn't been a huge fan in the past) said to me today was "I can't believe they're shutting down the Bioware forums... that's so sad."  Even randoms don't like it

Oh, I guess I should have elaborated beyond the he's so smexy thing.  I love that you can redeem him.  Show him forgiveness.  See his growth.  The fact that your dwarf is a criminal and gets to do these things also causes growth for her as well.  At least that's how I see it.

Well, I've saved all 140 pages of the thread, for what it's worth. I've been considering the option of immortalizing them in an imgur album as the "lazy solution" when I've more time to spare. Maybe they'll be up on whatever-forum us BSN-ers deem as this forum's successor.

As for what's in the future of these BioWare Paint Adventures... I don't know. I've always wanted to do a Dragon Age series and had a couple of templates prepared for that (the different races of Thedas). Right now, I'm busy with the on-going sequel to Old Republic Paint Adventures. I'll probably have to finish that one first before starting something new.
