#14493041 Citadel DLC - Post your feedback and thoughts here

Posté par BoneNinja sur 11 mars 2013 - 06:41 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

This was the most phenomenal DLC I've ever played. It's entirely worth it, the time, the cost everything. I only wish all DLC (and even games period) lived up to what this one was. My most favorite thing in this DLC, and it is a detail that spanned the entirety of the DLC was how animated and life like all Shepard's crew finally became in this DLC. They weren't just talking to Shepard, they weren't just talking through Shepard. They truly portrayed a connection between and amongst themselves that has grown over the three games. The banter alone had me crying in hysterical laughter sometimes. I've had to go back and record the first few hours (during the actual "adventure" part of the DLC) just so I could fully read and enjoy the banter between my crew and with the enemy during some of the fight scenes. All the little jabs at Shepard, the constant references to the Sushi bar, old jokes brought up, the jabs at each other. The camaraderie between the crew and everything they'd been through and who'd they'd become because of everything they'd been through was captured so beautifully in this DLC. I loved the more realistic tender moments between Shepard and his/her LI, they were more realistic and captured the relationship between Shep and the LI better than all the other intimate moments in the game put together.

Thane's actor posted this review: www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2013/03/05/mass-effect-3s-citadel-dlc-at-last-the-perfect-goodbye/ and it captures my thoughts perfectly. I usually am not fond of DLC content that inserts itself in the middle of a game I've already finished, it always feels wrong and out of place. But this DLC I don't think would fit or due the justice it has anywhere else.

A beautiful and incredibly sad finality to a beautiful and amazing game series. As Tassi says above, at last, the perfect goodbye. :)

I'm pretty sure you would get closer with a Quarian then a horse, which isn't humanoid. I'm just gonna wrap this up by saying this. If Bioware by some chance did decide to have your LI give birth to your child for the next game, I'm just saying it is only fair for Talimancers to get the same treatment a Liara or Ashmancers could get. You can say making the game realistic should come before being fair but I think BW could find a way. I doubt BW would take that approach for a new game but if by some chance they did I don't want certain romance people to feel left out just because it wouldn't make as much sense as the other character would.

Actually not really. The entire basis of their DNA is different. So actually you'd likely have better luck with a horse. It doesn't matter at all what they look like. That being said, my small point here is that it wouldn't happen naturally. That's not to say, given that this IS the future, that there couldn't be some loophole they could write into the story that would allow some scientific external help in the matter allowing it to occur. Same goes for Garrus and FemShep.

One of the DLC's you won a bet and got a house. Nice little place, not a very pretty environment to live in, but nice little house. Problem was, you couldn't really do anything there. I don't even remember being able to take any squadmates there at all. No scenes, no dialogue, just a place you could go that was yours. And no customization. So I'm actually pretty excited to have an apartment on a bustling place like the citadel. Rather overdue for poor Shep imo. Can't wait to see what customization they offer, just hope it's good and actually gives some personalization and choice to it. Love that you'll actually have scenes there and interactability with friends and romances. Again though, I'm really really hoping for some quality interactions more than the generic sit on lap or drinking and cuddling scenes.

Technically, that was in ME1 and the Pinnacle Station DLC (which, fyi, is a true f***ing ripoff of a DLC...) - about the only thing it was good for was restocking Shepard's grenades, occassionally listening to music on the radio, and using the terminal to buy upgraded gear much earlier than you could normally get it in the game. Add the fact that the apartment never transfered or imported into the sequels just made it an even worse waste of money for those of us stupid enough to buy the damn thing. <_<

I started thinking about it some time after I posted this and thought I may have put ME2 instead of ME1 for this DLC. So yup, you're entirely correct! Sorry about the confusion. You're pretty much dead on correct about everything you said regarding the DLC, and I'm rarely one to criticise a DLC to begin with!

Posté par BoneNinja sur 27 juin 2012 - 03:08 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

LOOOOOOVED this addition. It was one of my favorite moments in the new footage. It was the best and most emotional expression from Kaidan (and the most realistic!) through the entire game. So glad they added this in!

It's called an RPG moment, one that is entirely unrealistic (in game of course) and will never EVER happen again. Like when you meet up with Liara and she can suddenly one shot cerberus agents (even in hardcore mode!!) and then never does it again.

How hard would it have been to give us our "Blue Children", or house on rannoch, all I want is a small cutscene set a few years in the future with Shepard and his/her LI.

Not hard at all.  Somebody obviously thought such an ending would be lacking in Artistic Integrity.

Except the DLC was already pushing the 2 GB download max and there is a lot of extra time, work, resources, voice acting (or even artwork design if you don't have it VOed) that would go into a reunion scene with your crew (for both male and female Shep as well as having to do a unique scene out with every possible LI for both male and female Shep.

Ideally I would have LOVED to see this (a scene with a reunion with my LI) but I understand why they didn't. I'm holidng out a little hope that maybe they'll do a nice DLC that is just a reunion or nice memorial/funeral for Shep and crew that we can pay for. I'd pay for it much more than I've ever payed for alternate appearance packs or extra weapon downloads. And Mac Walters has said there is much more to come, so we'll see. But it is what it is.

Ideally they would have just had an artwork piece that triggered of just your LI (possibly like a photo with you as the person taking the picture) posing with a child (or more) that could have then been insinuated to be either your biological child with said LI or even possibly adopted child (if the whole biology thing wasn't gonna work for you and your LI). But again, I know they were already pushing the max file size for the DLC so I'm totally good with what we got. I LOVED the extra fluff at the beam with your team (and sure there are "realistic" problems with the scene, like yes, I am utterly sure Harbinger would have shot the Normandy down as it sat there waiting for you, but that's why this is a game and it's called an RPG moment lol!) I loved the extra dialogue with the StarChild, I loved having the explanations that helped me understand more and find peace with the game and my character and my crew, and I loved the epilogue letting me know the immediate future of what happened.

They've said they aren't going to continue this story, this is the end, so I entirely believe there will not be an ME4. But they have said that they plan on telling other stories from the ME Universe through other media outlets (comics, movies, etc) so I look forward to learning about the future of the ME Universe through those outlets. Because ultimately, no matter what choice you make, no matter what your EMS score was, no matter what of anything the universe is going to do what it is going to do, which is continue on and be fine. I'm just glad I got the glimpses into the future of the races and of my friends that I did.

Thank you Bioware!! This DLC was the best gift ever!!! I look forward to seeing what comes next.

#11083236 REUNION DLC

Posté par BoneNinja sur 26 juin 2012 - 05:48 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I'm happy the EC at least insinuated a reunion between Shepard and crew/LI. Worst case scenario that is enough for me at least. But God would I love, and totally totally pay for a reunion DLC. Just dialogue, cutscenes, cinematics stuff. You wanna put anything else in, fine, but would love to have that moment.

#11083154 Mass Effect 3 Extended cut like or hate what your opinion

Posté par BoneNinja sur 26 juin 2012 - 05:46 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Love it. It helped out tremendously. There are a few things I would have liked addressed (not plot holes, just sentimental things) but I'm very happy with it. The only thing I would have liked is a scene of Shepard surviving (the equivalent "breath" scene from the destroy option) for synthesis. I'm still confused as to whether Shepard lives or dies in that scenario. Everything points to him/her dying, but the stargazer still says he has "one more story" about the Shepard...so which is it?

#11082572 Stop whining! BioWare did a good job!

Posté par BoneNinja sur 26 juin 2012 - 05:31 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I wanted to post my opinion somewhere, might as well be here lol.

I really like the EC, it made me feel a great deal better about the ending overall.

I will say I never had a huge problem with the endings to begin with. There were certain plot holes that really really bothered/upset me (Joker flying off with my crew was a HUGE one for instance) but with having read the lore and codex entries I never had the horrendous assumptions that others did. I wanted to know why Joker flew off and left me...with my crew. I really really wanted a reunion with my LI. I wanted to know what the heck happened to my friends. For me there needed to be more closure there and I got that and more in the EC. I loved the new scenes (Although I haven't done controlled and I watched refusal on YouTube. In my games I only did a Destroy and a Synthesis option). I loved at least seeing A reaction from my LI. While I didn't get my reunion scene or a scene from down the road where I'm with my LI, I at least got my crew taking off from mystery planet to head home. In the end, with it not being my exact story to tell, I'm good with that. I know the reunion at least happens, even if I can't see, knowing it happens is enough for me. EDI was really touching in the Synthesis EC and I loved hearing Hackett again in the Destroy EC.

Would there have been more I wish I could have seen, well of course. There always will be. You could make a movie out of the cutscenes/cinematics I’d love to see following my decision at the end of the game for MY Shepard, but it’s not possible. Realistically I would have liked to see something a bit more for Anderson, more than just a plaque, something to commemorate him better for instance, maybe something with Kahlee or something. I would have loved to seen more reaction from my LI about not knowing what happened to me, thinking I was dead or thinking I was not dead.

Big thing I would have liked to have seen added was the breath scene to high enough EMS Synthesis ending. I’m still rather confused as to whether Shepard actually “lived” in that scenario. On one hand my LI puts the plaque up on the Normandy indicating I’m dead, I don’t have any evidence to say I’m alive at all, but then the stargazer at the very end still mentions the “one more story” about Shepard. So…that’s probably a question that I still have that didn’t get plainly answered.

But overall, yeah, I think the EC added just what I needed to feel a good conclusion to the game and characters I love. Thanks Bioware!

Easier than 2 (well...save for the Defend the Missiles scenario on Earth. That just SUCKED!), but way harder than 1. Of course for me, 1 on insanity didn't really feel any harder than normal. I played through as a soldier and did fine.

Just to specify, Keythe Farley has said on his Facebook page "For the record, the only recording sessions I had last week were for Nickelodeon and Activision." so definitely sounds like he's out. But he also linked this article http://www.examiner....ctors-recording which states that both male and female Shep's are indeed back doing VOs for the EC.

#10129933 Which is more rare, N7 weapons or female gamers?

Posté par BoneNinja sur 01 mai 2012 - 08:50 dans Multiplayer

Lol, so far that I've experienced, I'd say ladies too. And I am a lady!

I've played ME from the beginning, and played ME3 MP even back in the demo. I almost always use my mic...unless I see everyone else had theirs off or my toddler is screeching at the top of his lungs and I'm pretty sure no one else wants to hear that (since I don't either).

I will say I used to bounce between groups (quick matches) frequently at the beginning of ME3, but as I've played and talked to other players I've gained a lot of friends that I enjoy playing the game with (and who apparently enjoy me as well) so as soon as I log on to XBox I'm getting invites to play in their groups, so now I end up with a lot of the same people now more so than new players.

Regardless I still only have 2 N7 weapons. That needs to change. :-/

#9987743 now that Bioware has abandoned SP (besides EC) does that mean no more patches...

Posté par BoneNinja sur 24 avril 2012 - 05:20 dans General Discussion

Bioware has already said they are putting their other (at least SP) DLC plans on hold to work on the EC first. That was in Ray's original announcement.

And moreso, people have to try and be patient waiting for bug fixes. There is a lot of unanticipated work that goes into a "simple" bug fix. Fixing one bug creates more, there is a lot to the process of fixing a single bug in a game, and sometimes it's just not feasible because fixing it messes up to many other things (i.e. creates MORE or worse bugs). It's only been a month and a half! AND they are frantically (I'm sure) working on the EC. AND they are working on other DLC/Ideas/Franchises/Concepts that were already previously in the works. AND they are maintaining and working on MP Operations for those of us that actually thoroughly enjoy it. AND they've already put out 2 patches for SP.

I think they have a lot on their plate right now and I give them full kudos for working so hard on everything.

Posté par BoneNinja sur 24 avril 2012 - 02:33 dans Combat, Strategy, and Gameplay

Oooooh yes, and I'd love to see some more "intimate" type emails from Kaidan. I mean seriously, Garrus sends you some pretty naughty emails to the datapad lol. I'd really at least like to see some more personal emails about their relationship sent to the datapad.

#9984333 Small LI Improvements for/in DLCs, w/Minimal Dev Resources

Posté par BoneNinja sur 24 avril 2012 - 02:21 dans Combat, Strategy, and Gameplay

I think these are good suggestions, and not "too much". I love the romances in Bioware games! And these are nice subtle things that I did indeed wish for while playing through ME3 (...and continue to on my re-playthroughs). Especially with Kaidan. I found some of his conversations outside of the "relationship milestone" conversations a bit...awkward...for being in a relationship. Like some are perfectly fine, some are absolutely adorable. I LOVE LOVE the little quip you can get where he starts with "You left without waking me..." ugh it just made me melt! And the pokes at his flirting ability and how he's apparently forgotten are cute. But sometimes I just felt like wow...this is WAY too professional for a personal conversation between boyfriend and girlfriend. The one instance that comes to mind is Kaidan talking about his father going MIA and presumed dead and then he talks about when this is over wanting to take his mom off world to travel. I was almost hurt by the fact there wasn't a simple reference to possible include my Shep in those plans. Something like "When this is over, maybe I'll take her off world like she's always dreamed. And..." with a shy glance up "...maybe you'd like to come too?" just...SOMETHING.

I also was really expecting and truly HOPING for a talk about thoughts on children or a future together after it was all done, something hopeful, something that they could look forward to in their darkest hour, something to plan for so they fight harder. I liked the last conversation between Kaidan and my FemShep. The last little cutscene of it where he pulls her in for a kiss with that type of feeling of "I don't care who sees anymore and who cares if this is against the rules anymore", and the last line he says about not being able to lose her again is soooo touching and heartfelt. But the rest of the conversation was...lacking. It was OK, but not very connective between Kaidan talking to the love of his life and thinking this could be "goodbye" again. I mean, THAT'S what he felt the need to share with her while thinking this? I was fine up until the "Sure, I have a few regrets..." perfect, PERFECT, opportunity to express some feeling at that point about things not said before THE LAST TIME SHE DIED. I would have liked to see at least a proposal here, something that showed they at least WANTED to spend the rest of their life together after this mess...regardless of whether they got to or not. I'm not sure a children conversation would work here (unless you did a type of proposal scene before the final assault then I would put some hints of that in it's place), but overall I think these should both be included in some fashion for all LIs. Especially since Liara and Garrus got the extra attention and got it included in their conversations (although Garrus's is much more blunt about it :P.) . *jealous*

I hope Bioware takes this into consideration for the extended cut, not likely, but I still hope. It's those tender moments between companions and love interests that truly make Bioware so special to me. I hate to see those relationships hurt now. :(

Thane sends only two messages...and they don't change based on LI or not. Which kinda stinks.

Also yes, it's Apple only right now. I think they are trying to work on an Android version, but nothing developed yet. But for anyone with an apple product, it is a really really cool app, and SO useful in keeping your Readiness Rating up. After you buy the upgrades (including the advanced ones) you can have a ship that goes to each section of the galaxy and it gives you over 3% readiness. Once you get your score to 100% to start with, you only have to send ships out to each section 2x a day to keep it at 100%, no MP needed. SO NICE!

Also unfortunately, it is a message from the beginning of the game. I finished the game (both destroy and synthesis) and my Shep lived, but didn't get the message from Kaidan until I started my next playthrough. I was really confused (and hopeful truthfully) but yeah :( only got it from the next playthrough. It's just poor timing, when it comes through (between the playthroughs) makes it look like it could be from the end. Started a third playthrough, without finishing the second playthrough (not even to Mars yet actually) and got the message again. So definitely beginning. :(

Also for those that have the app, check the email frequently as you play. I've noticed that in one playthrough I didn't check it terribly often, but on my third playthrough I did and got a TON more messages that I didn't get on the second playthrough, so it seems to only load so many if you've gone through too many "events" that would trigger messages.
