Well I'm awake and I'm ready for the celebration!  ...But I have to go for a dog training session in a little bit and will be back in a couple of hours.  :crying:

I still haven't bought my copy of DAI yet!  Gotta get some financial stuff taken care of first. Yay. Regardless, it WILL be my birthday present!  B)

Oh, YES! Can we get it going before I have to get going? That would be fabulous!  :D

Naw, just post it again! We'll pretend it's a surprise. And, to many it still will be!

So... 14 pages? Do you guys want to speed up or slow down? If it's tomorrow... I won't be around.

Who's here and has stuff to post??

I have stuff!  Save me a spot, please. :) I should be checking in, but we're hearing big talk about the storms coming in off the hurricane.  I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't affect our power!  Stay safe everyone.  <3

And they end up forming such a large line stretching from the top of his tower to the courtyard, someone is forced to set one of these up;

Would that someone be Josephine?

I can't believe it's almost 3000 pages!  Save me a spot for the celebration, please? I actually finished the projects I was working on!  I have three, one for each thousand.  :D

Just gotta write the blurbs to go along with them.  That's a great word, "blurbs."

#17272901 Holy crap, Chachi is amazing.

Right??? Seriously, I cried when I read the dev responses.  I am SO glad we got to do this! And it's all because of Chachi!  :wizard:

Someone said "because someone else might have gotten it wrong."  I thought that was beautiful!  <3

I was wondering if that was like the Zevran romance where you can say you're not ready, and he understands; the relationship continues anyway... actually can't you go all the way through the Zevran romance and never have sex??

So I had a weird/sad dream last night; I dreamed we (the Cullen thread) were all hanging out together; it was a sort of reunion, and everyone brought their boyfriends... you all brought Cullen!!! LOL Just like fifteen copies of Cullen roaming about the auditorium. And I was wondering who my boyfriend would be, only to learn it was Iron Bull. I was so upset. Probably hurt Bull's feelings

LOL!  Weren't you in the chat when I was talking about the Bring Your Own Cullen party (like I do...)? I'm very sorry if that had anything to do with it.  I'm still laughing though.

You could do that with Zev? Seriously? He kind of always creeped me out a bit with his "you are so sexy-sexy-sexy" attitude. Hm, maybe I should try that :)

I liked how we could turn down Viconia in BG2. I was playing that huge beefy man, and she was like, "take on me, take me on!" and I said, "No! Where are my flowers and candles?" and that's when the romance took an interesting turn for something deeper than just physical attraction, It was kind of cool. :) I wonder if we could do something like that with Cullen, because Sheryl's comment about getting the fem Mage out of his system still haunts me.

It haunts me too, but I only just read it the other day.    I vote*not* having a romance that should come with a trigger warning.  After the more recent comments about him though, I'm not actually worried too much about it.  :)

I liked the theory about him being a Dryden. :)  A nice connection to a previous family in the series, without being too ultra-special.  I like him just being a great character because of who he is himself, not who his family is. :)

And I liked Levi. :)

I wonder if the reason we don't know Cullen's last name is because it's supposed to be a surprise when we find him.  Like we're sent off to find one Ser Lingus, and we get there and OMG, there's Cullen!

(Sorry, I needed a filler name.  :D )

Or do you think he'll be there right from the beginning?  Or something else entirely?

(...This was supposed to be a longer, more thoughtful post, but I think I derailed myself.)

Edit:  Eep! ToP! Have a Cullen from CheshireKat! :)

Solas is Welsh, I repeat, Solas is WELSH!

Well now I NEED him to be romanceable.  I was already looking forward to listening to him talk about his opinions, but now I'm even more excited!

Your welcome. =3

No regrets.

Oh my goodness! That's why I connected your name with mods! I loved that Cullen mod so much! Thank you for that.  It's officially part of my headcanon for my Amell. :) It was so well done. I still need to try the others, I think.

So how pissed is everyone that Cullen is confirmed straight romance?

Are you here to offer hugs, ice cream, and delicious baked goods?  That is so sweet of you! ♥ A lot of us are quite disappointed.  Cullen has a vast and varied fan base, and it would have been nice if everyone could experience his character in full (which in the past generally only happened with a romance).  I think a lot of us thought he'd be a good choice for a bi character who went against stereotype, while also pleasing the fans who've been invested in the character for years, who have known and loved the him since DAO or DA2.  So yes, we're disappointed whether it's for ourselves or our friends.  :(  Cullenites are some of the most lovely, thoughtful, open-hearted people I've "met," and I personally am hurting for those who have been disappointed by this.

And I'm still hoping it was a mistake.

Indeed. Even Hawke and family were round-faced. I found it almost impossible to make a Hawke that didn't look like I broke facial physics without a round face. Carver had a longer mug, though. Maybe that's why I liked him so much...?  Maybe it's a templar thing? lol!

Yeah... Until there's gameplay to digest, the look is all we've to go on and it's... juuuust off enough to jar my recognition of him as Cullen. Kind of like grinding a gear a little on the way in. It goes and your engine keeps turning but there's friction in getting the new gear accepted. Well... it made sense to me... sorry. trucker over here. :P

Oh yay! Someone else who liked Carver! :)  LOL!

And I liked your analogy. :)  I know what you mean, but I'm hopeful that he'll be fully recognizable as Cullen in the game.

MAN, I can't find the source now, but they did say that they had to make some changes to romances...

Gah, that's even more disappointing, if Cullen was originally supposed to be bi.  On the other hand, maybe that means there are voiceover files that modders can use in a m/m romance mod?

I still have a stupid hope that there was a mistake and he's not actually straight.

Should that (full) name sound familiar to me? I had the weirdest sense of deja vu about hearing that that's her name. Either way, she looks great! Prettiest eyes yet (esp. in the background photo)!

Same here!  Like we've heard before that it was Josephine, but nobody remembered to use it and it was just lost.  So weird!

She looks awesome, and I love her name!

Happy 2000 Everyone!

Sending love and healing thoughts to Kirrahe.  Be well, and you can tell the people at that hospital they'd better take care of my friend!  We'll hold the line.  You rock on! ;) We miss you! (Also, hi Cassie!)

I think advisors won't leave no matter what. And the one companion who stays loyal no matter what you do is Cassandra. Because these people formed the Inquisition, and they did it, because they have this big goal of saving the world, stopping the chaos, etc. Other companions seem to have their own agendas, but the core of the Inquisition seems to be above pursuing their goals at the cost of the world's safety. Besides, the Inquisition will probably just fall apart without them.
I don't think he left. The Inquisition is just more important right now to him, but he probably still thinks of himself as a templar. BB says he is still processing what happened, and he probably haven't thought yet about what his life will be after the Inquisition. Will he go back to being a templar? Will it even be possible after what he saw, after he experienced that level of authority, after he interacted with all these different people, heard what they have to say? After he saw that Circles don't work? I imagine Cullen may be a bit lost, but what he knows for sure is who he is, and who he was, and that is a templar. He may cling to that for a comforting sense of stability, and draw confidence from his past. And that's why he still wears templar gauntlets, although he's technically not a part of the order at the moment.

I love that! ♥ I hope it's something like this. :)

I'm just going to... Sorry, I was going to say something and I got distracted...    Wow, I love this one so much!   Where did it come from?  I haven't found the source yet!  I have it as the wallpaper on my phone, which makes for a MUCH nicer distraction than facebook whenever I turn it on!

Sorry, I'm behind, but I thought this was funny! :)

Nnnf. Not gonna lie, yo. The mental images that immediately flood in as soon as I hear that Cullen is a bamf?

*fans self*

Just imagine it. Just imagine it. Some serious shizz is going down and your Quizzy? Maybe you're a little worried. Maybe the odds aren't in your favor. Things are looking questionable and all you can think is "Maker, preserve us." And you timidly reach for the door handle to step into the room that may hold your fate, the possible scene of a future crime, and Cullen brushes your hand aside. His eyes meet yours. "Step back, Inquisitor," he says with finality, the sort you know you can't argue down. "Remain out here. Tend to your troops. I will be back momentarily." His gaze travels your face, pausing to admire the crook of your nose and the slight dimple in the center of your lower lip. For a moment it looks as if he's got more to say, but he simply inclines his head when words fail him.

You don't want him to go but he's left you little choice.

The door flies open and he dashes in, sword drawn and helm lowered. He doesn't need your help. Foes clammor for windows and doors, knowing their fate is sealed the moment the door snaps closed behind him. He's Cullen and he is a man to be feared.

 Uhhh... I'm gonna be the voice of Lola here and say that's a bit too Harlequin romance-y sounding for me  My inquisitor would shove him aside, "Are you nuts?! Why the hell are you talking like that, anyway??" and race in there first

Haha!  Mine would give him an affectionate smirk and say "have at it, darling," then stand in the doorway as he vanquishes foes with her fire raining down around him. (And other glorious cliches!)

I have actually contemplated that as well, that Cole was somehow responsible for our surviving the blast and getting back out of the Fade.  It actually makes some kind of weird sense to me.

That makes sense to me too, although my favorite theory is that Flemeth is responsible, just because that would make it a pattern and not a coincidence that the previous heroes were aided by Flemeth in the beginning. :)

I think he likes to be in shadows, and the hat gives a good shadow.

Haha! And it serves the additional purpose of constantly bumping party members to remind them of his presence!

He's had a bit of an underwhelming announcement, which is a shame.  Slip him in when no one is looking....wonder if they will slip him out again as quietly and claim not to know what we're talking about lol

Once a month until October.  :D

Do they ever say it's the guard captain, though? Sounds like just some guardsman. (As long as it's not some dead-in-the-final-battle guardsman who will give Cullen a case of Carth Syndrome...) Given how Varric's apparently-most-famous book actually happened, I'd be disappointed in him if it turned out all his books are just fictionalizations of stuff he hears around town, though.

Yeah, I like the idea of him dating, but with minimal angst attached.  It's bad enough that my Amell died killing the archdemon, but that was 10 years ago, so I hope whatever grief has faded enough that it won't be a big issue.

#16753236 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par faerie dragon sur 13 juin 2014 - 07:36 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Aha! Found it! The story Varric wrote about the Templar Knight Captain and the guardsman:

Aveline: "Alright, tell me, how does it end?"

Varric: "Beg your pardon?"

Aveline: "That guard story of yours, the... the one with the guardsman who falls in love with a Templar Knight Captain."

Varric: "Oh! The romance, Swords & Shields. I just started that serial, It's got 10 chapters to go."

Aveline: "Well, yes, but you know how it ends! ... Just tell me."

Varric: "I've got an idea... But the story, the story will go where it wants to go. The characters drive it, not me."

Aveline: "You're the author, that makes no sense at all!"

Varric: "A good story you don't really write, it was always there... you just uncover it."

I wonder what that means? Varric suggests he "uncovered" something. Is he suggesting that Aveline has a crush on Cullen? Seems odd since she can be married to Donnic when you get this one. Unless it's a hint that Cullen was indeed dating someone (a guardsman) in DA2 and it ended for whatever reason, leaving him single for our Inquisitor in DAI? Hm...

I interpreted it as just how writing works.  You have an idea for a story, but the characters have minds of their own and take it wherever it ends up going.   I do like the idea of him dating a guardsman sometime during DA2's timeline and being single again when he meets the Inquisitor though.  :)

Well, he's a fan favourite and an NPC, stands to reason that there's a higher chance that he will be than one of the companions. The devs know that he has a lot of men/male Inquisitors aiming to romance him after all these years.

I agree.  I imagine he's got a lot of mages lined up to romance him as well.  I hope he doesn't break their hearts (unless they're eeeeevillll)!

First use of the lion mask?

CULLEN: This seems a bit much, Inquisitor.

INQUISITOR: Hardly. Leliana said we all have to wear masks, or else Madame de Fer will be insulted. Then we will have no nobility backing us. [LIFTS LION MASK] This is yours.

CULLEN: That is a helmet. With a furry mane. As a Ferelden, I am not adverse to fur, mind you, but this?

INQUISITOR: You will look fierce, Ser Cullen. Which is the point. [PLUNKS LION HELMET ONTO CULLEN'S HEAD] Ah! A terrible beast!

CULLEN: [SLIGHTLY MUFFLED] I do indeed feel like I could scare away all the nobles in Orlais.

INQUISITOR: That's the spirit!

And now I'm picturing the Inquisitor putting on a dainty, lovely mask...

Dear Maker, please save Cullen from any public humiliation! (because I would feel terrible for him!)

Have a gif! lol, I'm doing now what Cullen does here, because all that centering frame by frame was crazy tiring.

Oh, hey, maybe Meredith scared him so much that he's very afraid of women by now and switched sides.

I mean, look what the writers have done with Cat-Whistle-Anders to get the inclusivity-scales right.

And knowing the writers' sadistic side, it might be just-so Gaider to have him snicker mischeviously in front of his monitor. "And now that we told them that Cullen is in the game and is even a love interest, watch all the ladies squeal with glee. And then watch them when I tell them that he's turned gay..."  :D

LOL!  If that happened, I would squeal with glee for all of the lovely Cullenites who want to romance Cullen with a male character... and promptly begin creation of a male character of my own!

I just popped in to say how happy I am for everyone here after yesterday's reveal!  Dorian looks like a great character, and I can't wait to meet him in-game! (I keep forgetting about poor Cole, which I find kind of sadly hilarious given his character.)

LOL!  I was thinking last night, didn't ML say that we could end the game with only one follower left?  It would be so funny it that were Cole, just because we forgot about him!

Then the Inquisitor could sing I'm All Alone from Monty Python's Spamalot.   (The role of the Inquisitor in this performance will be played by Arl Howe.)

seriously, can he even see through that thing? It looks like it covers his face at least down to his nose, and if they put peep holes into the eyes now that would be really silly.

I think he's seeing through the mouth... not that I've looked at the gifs on Phate Phoenix's tumblr for hours while chatting with Cullenites... :-)

Still, is has to hinder his vision and maybe his movement too! It makes me think there has to be a significant reason he's wearing it.
