I find it rediculous that in this day and age; people refuse to look at other's perspective because it "ruffles their feathers". We often don't realize how much marketing and mass media influence society. To be blunt ( and acknowledging the elephant in the room ) women are horribly and underwhelmingly represented in media, but more importantly ~ the gaming industry.

When an organization markets one option, they're essentially saying "this is who this game is for", "these are the people we want playing our games" whether intentional or not. A survey of the current gaming landscape reveals a detrimental lack of diversity. Among the most anticipated games of this year, you see: Batman Arkham Knight, Halo 5, MGS V, Mighty No.9, The Legend Of Zelda Wii U, The Witcher 3, The Division, Uncharted 4, The Order 1886, Battlefield Hardline, Rainbow 6 Siege, and Final Fantasy XV ( most which predominantly feature white males as the protagonist ). Albeit we are doing better with Rise Of The Tomb Raider and No Man's Sky ( which isn't even a triple A title ). There really is no denying this ludicrous abscence of diversity.

Maybe when you live in a world where your very definition; your only importance is represented as a sexual object, when your voice is labaled as "femenist extremism", when you pick up a controller and your gender is reduced to being an incable princess who has to wait on a plumber to come save her. Maybe then you'll get it.

And somehow - by chance - you finally find this freaking awesome character. She can be whoever you want to be and look however you want her to look. Only to get this acknowledged at the backend of a series - that has already been defined by years of marketing - with a trailer that was hardly shown.
Maybe when jokes about your menstral cycle being implemented into gameplay are thrown around ( seriously guys? ) Maybe thats when you will get it.

I love bioware and their push for diversity has been amazing. It is definitly something I appreciate. However, marketing communicates what your game is about and DOES have an impact on who buys it. Diversity is important people. And more specific to this; Women are treated as lesser in the gaming industry and its culture. This is not an opinion, this is fact.

But it is a possibility that only humans will be playable, as that was the case with every Mass Effect game so far. While multiple playable races would allow for more options in character creation, it would have some drawbacks as well.

Ahh; Im under the impression that there will be other playable races seeing as many voiced that they wanted this before and after a new mass effect series was announced. Though I do see what you mean. I'm just waiting to be amazed by the next mass effect :3 Time will tell

good for the females that they have their options but for me Shepard is a male (with his default face, can't stand looking at another) and voiced by Mark Meer!

But how would you feel if your version of shepard was never represented until what was an after thought in mass effect 3's marketing?

Thats exactly how everyone else feels ~ particularly those of us who choose femshep

And get the skip thr fade mod. That whole part is such a life suck and adds no value imo

IMO You should not use skip the fade on your first play-thru. The only mods I would use are cosmetic/hair and romance.

Besides, you can get a lot of free attribute upgrades in the Fade.

Trust me guys, I have no intention of skippiping any part of this game. I actually just started over because because I made some choices I didn't like initially. Loving the convos in this game :3

Ive been wanting to get the Mass Effect trilogy for a bit now and I will be getting it on PS3. I just wanted to know what is included on disk? Are all the DLC missions included for every game?

In all seriousness ~ I hope we can give our character more weight in the next mass effect games, whatever the gender is

I don't know how it would play out in the game's structure though you can go through an arc where you try to keep the relationship going though you both may have to come to terms that you have changed and It'd be up top both of you to see if you can still be together ~ maybe your relationship hast just evolved into a friendship now? I would also think that would make kaidan very one dimensional if he could not understand those things, or maybe I'm thinking about this way more than I need to ~

It would be nice, but I doubt that they will do it when we already have ME Trilogy edition. What irriated me about this version was not being able to register ME1 nad ME2. Looks like it doesn't metter now with the new forum.

 

I don't think we were ever able to register Mass Effect, we're we? And yaa, I do miss having the Mass Effect 2 emblem beneath my avatar ~

   I was under the impression after the ending of mass effect 2 that Humans were the main focus of the reaper invasion because of their rapid expansion. This was resulting in higher numbers of them around the galaxy ( through out  mass effect 2 its the humans who are disappearing no the other races from what I remember ), For example the human reaper at the end. Also, the earth systems were the first to get attacked and the only ones who seemed to be actually getting things organized for the galaxy. Yes, the reapers were attacking the whole galaxy though earth was giving them the highest return in terms of reaperized forces thus its easier to attack the other worlds. Its also mentioned that the reapers would send out hordes of husk before they began invading most civilizations ~ husk are reaperized humans

I would imagine that this is set in place at certain points in order to make your choices feel more final. For example if someone didn't like their choice and just reset thei game to a minute ago. Also ~ this is actually common to more games than those of Bioware, though I understand the frustration

The reason behind the geth desiring the reaper code was because they would become fully self aware individuals and also ~ I went for peace :3

Yeah I'm of two minds:

 

1)I understand that any more 'lofty' sci fi concepts can be and have been botched many times before, and I'm unsure how Bioware would handle it. So I get people going 'No, wouldn't work. Not Mass Effect.' (btw Jessica recently confirmed that it won't be 'Mass Effect 4', so at the most, it'd be 'Mass Effect: ___' but I predict more 'Mass ____'.

 

2)I'm a bit annoyed that so many want to go small scale. A story can be smaller than before while touching larger concepts. ME1 was largely exploring a few human-settled worlds but it involved stopping a giant invasion. ME:N could be still relatively smaller than ME3 (a galactic hot war) and encourage more exploration and toned down (in scale) storylines, while still introducing new parts of a much larger storyline. It's not an 'either/or', unless you think even ME1's story sucked.

 

 

   Honestly, for your first part I feel there are still many stories to tell though they are waiting to be told. I really do feel like anything is possible. Maybe its hard to imagine right now though thats just because we haven't seen it happen as of yet. I mean look at the mp ~ everyone was doubting that

 

   I very much agree with you on your points. A big thing that has me excited is all the possibilities and worlds ( using the the word " worlds " loosely here ) they will be able to create with the advancement of the new consoles. Mass Effect is amazing though it is obvious, at least to myself, that there were so much more that the developers wanted to tell or more so that the world wanted to divulge. I feel personally that embarking on something new beyond the reapers is rather invigorating. For example, in Mass Effect 2 ~ there was a mission where you went to Gei Hinnom ( yes I had to look that up ) to save the last surviving quarian from a team that had been slaughtered by varren. The amazing thing about this is there was another world where other events were taking place outside of you and your team's goal. You had the choice to go there but you didn't have to. It just harkens back to the quote of 1 + 1 = 3. So many possibilities . . . and I really feel we'll be seeing alot more of that in the coming game
