#20381782 Help a Fellow Keeper: Common Issues/Ask a Question

Posté par serenai sur 12 juillet 2016 - 07:49 dans Feedback & Suggestions

The only decisions that sync are from the Keep to Inquisition when you choose to import your world state at the beginning of the game, and then from Inquisition to the Keep if you play while online and signed in to Origin. The decisions from the first 2 games need to be chosen in the tapestry when you create your world state.

Characters brought over from the old BioWare Social Network (that contained the data on your characters from Origins and 2) only brought in your character's avatar, race, class, and gender.. but not the decisions. You still would have needed to build your story in the tapestry, which you have done :)

#20380082 Article at Vice, real world parallels to Mass Effect Universe

I looked and searched to see if this had already been posted, but couldn't find it.. so apologies if it has already.

I found the parallels they drew between our current world and issues and the Mass Effect universe interesting.

Thank you so much! After reading your post, I pre-ordered the Calendar!   :P

PS: I didn't even know about the Calendar.   :o

Anytime ;) I'm glad you were able to pre-order. There hasn't been much mention of it lately around here so it's no wonder you hadn't heard of it (and probably quite a few others have not, either).

For those who haven't gotten the ME trilogy, it's currently $10 at Amazon. Mass Effect Trilogy [Online Game Code]

It's been a few days since I've checked in with you folks, I'm still having sinus trouble, however... Just thought you guys should know that I've been hospitalized for bloodclots again, hopefully it's a minor issue.

it's been a few days since you posted this, I hope you are on the mend. I always worry when one of you posts something like this and then we don't hear from you for a while  :(

I won't be around for a bit myself after next week, as I'm going in for surgery. It's supposed to alleviate nearly life-long pain so although recuperation will take a good long time, it's for the best. I think I'm going to start another playthrough of ME since I'll be stuck in one spot for a while.. otherwise I'll start grumping on twitter or something, which is never a good thing :P

Since many of you are liking PoE, maybe I'll give that a shot while I'm down.

Have fun playing!  :D

#18932183 DLC and the fate of Bioware points

Posté par serenai sur 05 avril 2015 - 07:39 dans Feedback & Suggestions

We're not likely to hear anything on the weekend, I'd recommend waiting until we know they're back in the office.

That's a good point.

I'm interested in an answer to this, as well.. will be keeping my eye on the topic. As far as I know, points you have in your account are still able to purchase things like DLC from the first 3 Mass Effects, etc.. they just are not good for DA:I forward. But it would be nice to know if they have a plan to refund those people who were hoping to use the points they already had in their account for future purchases where they are now unable to.

They're also still selling points on Amazon for previous DLC like Citadel: BioWare Points 1200 Citadel [Online Game Code]

I don't see a way in either the Origin store or Xbox account to see what your Bioware Points balance is.. I know I had some left (and can see their prior purchase in my purchase history) but no balance anywhere. Anyone know where to find that?

Found it. Log into the old BSN and go to 'purchase bioware points' (here: https://points.biowa...kout/showOffers ) and it shows the balance.

Edit #2: This is a better link, it goes to your account: https://points.biowa...ts/showAccounts

And on my previous comment that we were supposed to be able to use the points for items prior to DA:I - there's no way during checkout (in the Origin store) to tell it to use your existing points for something like an ME3 digital deluxe upgrade (couldn't find any DLC to test it on, which is weird). Sooo yeah.. they appear to be unusable there.

Edit #3: I checked Xbox live and they are showing only $ for payment options as well, no points balance availability.

It seems I never registered my Mass Effect from Steam with Origin.. I just did that, so we'll see if it shows up here in a bit. There's no way to register it in the old BSN entitlements page, so that has to be where it's pulling the registered games from.

For anyone wanting to know how to do that, go into your Steam library and click the game on the left. On the right menu there will be an option for "CD Key," click there and you'll get a window with your Serial #. Copy it to your clipboard then use it in "Register Game" in Origin.

Why Steam? You can get DOS, POE and WL2 on GOG - all DRM free. + Witcher 3 (DRM free)

All purchases are no risk too with 30 days money back guarantee. It's a superior distribution channel to Steam/Origins. I always check GOG first before Steam. It's unfortunately not all use the GOG platform - yet.

GOG is awesome - I've worked with some super nice people there.

They have a new thing now where you can reclaim some of your games as long as you have the original key. I'm sure they'll be adding more games to it as time goes on. I keep a page updated with theirs and other deals here, if you're ever interested in coupon codes or sales and stuff. I get advance notice on a lot of sales.

Sorry I haven't been saying much lately, been dealing with some medical issues and my dog has cancer, so have been spending a lot of time with him. I peek in all the time and read what everyone's up to, I just don't often post :) I also signed up at the forum y'all started in case you bail from here.

Welcome to all the new peeps! :D

P.S. I would love to know how to get ME 1 in my cute little icon list, if anyone knows how! haha nevermind, keep reading!

Posté par serenai sur 04 avril 2015 - 08:55 dans Feedback & Suggestions

can't believe i'm still running into this bug in MARCH, but i have tried to create over 6 characters since the latest patch came out and been unable every time to leave the burnt down temple. i have tried uninstalling, deleting old saves, starting with a default character and world state and...nothing has worked. wondering if this will ever get fixed or what.

edit: i have run around aimlessly for over an hour without being able to save or encountering any npcs. amazing.

Are you still having trouble? I have some possible fixes here you could try. If none of those works, I can make you a save so you can start playing - even importing your world state if you send it to me in the Keep. I've made quite a few for people who have run into this bug.

Yes, apparently it is live. From a few reports, it's causing crafted shields to either disappear or have armor rating of 0.

If you don't want to install the patch, pause the download when it starts. You can start the game in online or offline mode, just keep the update paused.

Bethgael, I'm 44 also  :wizard:  and I introduced my young'uns to gaming as well. We have family gaming nights, and even with 2 moved out (have 1 still in the nest) we "gather" online to play things like Dungeon Defenders. The family that plays together, and all that.

And Sylveria, BASIC was how I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I'm still trying to grow up.. lol.. and I do NOT miss the cassette tapes.

serenai, after reading the patch notes for patch 3....

Publish that thing.

OK, maybe give it a week to see if a hotfix, or quick turnaround to patch 4, is announced.

lol!

I think it's pretty definitive as saying "We hear you, we know what you want"

And it's also pretty definitive that he's not able to discuss the plans, no matter how hard people are pressing/grilling him for information. I'm actually satisfied with that response, for now- but I know for certain if they don't address some major issues with this next patch, they probably won't "have" a PC community to worry about.

Yes, by Conal's comments, they know what is needed, I think. It's just going to take some time to get there, especially since the team has been gutted to go over to make the next ME. But I also agree with Sylveria that the longer they wait, the fewer people will be here (im)patiently waiting for the patch(es).

They've said before that they really can't announce what's in an upcoming next patch while it's still in the works because it may change before it's finalized. A bug might be too difficult to finish the fix or regression testing for it in time, they maybe can't find the fix at all yet, etc.. anything can change and if they list something and it's not in the patch then people are understandably upset. So while they have a roadmap, they can't disclose it until they're absolutely certain which fixes or changes will be in the next patch.

Hell, I'm still waiting on word from Allan about a game breaking bug some people are experiencing (being put in the character creator fade area instead of the dungeon with Cass after chargen) and I know it'll be a while. We just have to be patient, and hope they don't go dark again.

That's the thing that they really need to do - not go dark again. Communication is a 2-way street, and nobody likes to feel like they are speaking into the wind. As long as they consistently communicate, people will be a lot happier, even if the fixes they want end up taking a bit longer.

Conal - thank you for the news. I look forward to more info whenever you're able to release it.

Even if every single reply on here was a unique user it would still amount to a tiny minority of the install base though and it seems to be fairly concentrated on just BSN on top of that. Now, I'm not saying the game doesn't have problems mind you, just that this thread jumped the shark ages ago as far as being anything constructive about those problems. So pointing to its length as evidence of anything doesn't say much anymore.

Anything constructive gets drowned out by the hyperbole and things like the near religious crusade to get male elf arms fixed... >.>

It's not just here. And while many posts are hyperbole, there is an emotion and a need behind that person's words that needs to be heard. Just because someone expresses themselves a certain way is no reason to dismiss their concerns, no matter what it is - the UI, the elf arms, whatever. One just needs to learn to read between the !!11!'s.

Just go to metacritic and read the user reviews. Link   Seriously. They outnumber the people here probably 20 to 1 and there are a LOT of PC UI complaints. Made me depressed reading them but I was doing research so I kept chugging along. People who have never written a review before are making an account over there just to give the game a 5 or less, and many are giving it a complete 0. Many upset people, I'm afraid.  :? (Yes, quite a few of those reviews are not for PC reasons. But a lot are. Even after reading through this topic, I was surprised at how many there were over there.)

If you're avoiding spoilers (Brogan!) don't read them, there are many.

Sorry for my wording/grammar, I'm tired. I'm sure you'll get the drift, tho.

Re: planning and research - I do that for my druid on EQ2. She's my main and I want her the best she can be. She can kick some serious ass when needed but she's mostly built for healing - and does it very well. If I didn't put the research in she wouldn't be half as good, and I wouldn't have as much fun whenever I do manage to get in to play (it's been a while now, but she's ready whenever I want to hop in). The research is half the fun for me, especially reading other people's pointers and going over the builds they have that work for them, then tweaking them for my own use.

Oh I have said plenty to her about spending time preparing to play vs actually playing but ultimately, from her perspective, that planning is fun for her and increases her enjoyment of the game when she does play. She doesn't have a lot of time to play and doesn't play many games so she wants to maximize the ones she does play. I can understand that. I don't "get" it, and it's not what I would want to do, but then, I am not the one playing her game fo her. She plays her way and I play mine and in games where we can, we play together and bicker and argue about who screwed up allowing the other one to die just like a married couple should :)

Kind of like that.. I do the same prep and sometimes spend more time in pre-play planning than actual play. But it's all fun for me.

I do understand the other side. My son just hops in and plays, then hollers at me for taking my sweet time  But he is also the type to spend 2 seconds in a character creator while I spend at least an hour in there. He is all about getting to the game - I'm about taking my time and enjoying the entire journey. Everyone is different.

Welcome! And I also owe you a like- apparently you can only give out so many in one day. :) Make sure you read back through intro posts so you know what you're getting yourself in.... err um so you know who we all are :)

I'm Leah btw and glad to meet you. (and I never finished DA:I either, for same reasons)

I read them all first, and great to meet you too! So many older gamers here.. loved all the C64 posts.. I feel right at home with my grey  :P

I did have the thought maybe I should try a mage. I started with a DW Dwarf rogue and that may be part of the problem, as the combat just exacerbates my "uuurrrrgh" over the controls. If I can just stand there and cast maybe that would ease some of the pain.

Posté par serenai sur 19 janvier 2015 - 05:33 dans PC Players

Hi All :) Thanks for the invite!

I've been on the boards since early BSN days.. I think. My memory is fuzzy. I started playing games on the original Atari, and when I got my Vic20 I wrote my own with the cassette tape using BASIC. Never got a C64 after, though, not sure why.

I played the original NWN before Bioware's version (the orig was on AOL back in the day). I've tried various MMOs.. DAOC, Guild Wars 2, other stuff, loved the original EQ before they changed everything. I tried to go back and play but went to Everquest 2 instead. Still play that.. crafting and decorating is fun :)

Tried SWTOR for a while, got all crafters to max level but there were just too many PVPers who don't leave you alone to get your blasted class quests done. I started on a PVP server because everyone I knew wanted to start there, then they all left. lol.. so I'm in the process of moving all of my characters to a PVE server, so now they sit, half on each. Too bad I can't sell my account, I have crafting materials out the ears.

I run princessstabbity.com if anyone was wondering where that article was going to appear that I mentioned. Since Bioware chose that very afternoon to pipe up that they were still working on the patch, I held off publishing it. I don't like to add to negativity; if they have their rears in gear there is no use in my lighting another fire under their butts. I have it waiting if we don't hear anything for another extended period, though.

Oh, and Brogan, I started but stopped. I'm avoiding spoilers, too, because I'm waiting for some type of KBM fix/change. I just can't play it the way it is, it takes all enjoyment out of it for me.

Nice to meet you all! :)
