#20401541 Mod on DA:O Ultimate Edition GOG ?

Posté par MerAnne sur 24 juillet 2016 - 09:46 dans General Discussion

First sorry for my poor english (vietnamese). I got this version from GOG and it didnt has the "override" folder for mod using. So i create one and put mods on but it didnt work, the only mods work is the .dazip mod. Anyone know about this?

I remember seeing DAO/Ultimate on sale so let me confirm the information...

1.  You purchased and successfully installed Dragon Age Origin/Ultimate edition

2.  You have successfully installed mods that are .dazip files

3.  You are having trouble installing mods that are NOT .dazip files because the override directories do not exist

If I am correct on those three points, all you need to do is create the folder structure manually in the Windows OS then install the "not .dazip" mods as usual.

They're not mage staffs, they're ancient dwarven beating sticks.   ;)

That become a mage staff when used by a mage

I remember it specifically because Harrowmont said it had been his....

So much for DWARVES can't do magic.  Harrowmont also gives you a magic staff for crowning him (for a mage GW anyway)

Should have been caught in QA/testing so you'll have to ask Bioware along with other inconsistencies.

Daveth and Ser Jory after Ostagar is a mod even if you are using your console to get them.

What other mods do you have installed?

For those who play on a desktop/laptop and still play DAO, I am updating my Dwarf Companion mod.  This isn't really the place to discuss mods so I'll be happy to discuss through private messaging or on a different thread.

#20351192 Straight Up Ability Replacements?

Posté par MerAnne sur 25 juin 2016 - 02:19 dans Custom Content

If you want to replace reaver talents with shapeshifter talents, then there will be no ShapeShifter specialization for the mages.  All of those spells will be missing.  Is this what you really want?  if so, change prereqability in the ABI_Base GDA file from 4018 (hidden shapeshifter) to 4019 (hidden reaver)

My suggestion would be to start with the tutorial on how to add a new spell and work your way up from there.

Because I have no sense, I decided to jump feet first into class/specialization and ability editing. Rather than making an entirely new class or specialization due to the intimidating complexity, I opted for outright replacing one specialization and its abilities with that of another class, specifically copying the Shapeshifting tree to replace the Reaver spec

This isn't as easy as you think unless you are fine with removing the Shapeshifter as a mage specialization.  A straight 'copy' doesn't work; I sincerely wish that it did.

#20351177 New specialization question

Posté par MerAnne sur 25 juin 2016 - 02:11 dans Custom Content

A Builder to Builder file really wouldn't help much since a standard B2B file doesn't include .gda and .tlk files  Most of the 'work' of adding a new spell or talent is in the .gda and .tlk files

For the actually scripting of the spell or talent (i.e. the contents of a standard B2B file) there are plenty of examples of scripting spells and talents in the toolset.

I had to reformat some of the code to find out what the original problem was.

Tchos was correct, you had a 180 degree issue.  You forgot the negative signs William's and Roland's locations

180 degrees.

except her script showed something more like 90 degrees.

If they are facing the opposite direction from 'the ladies', it would be because there is close to a 90 degree difference in their orientation.

#20333115 Stubborn followers refuse to use coordinates

Posté par MerAnne sur 18 juin 2016 - 01:57 dans Custom Content

The first thing that strikes me is that you are setting the location THEN you are making them active and finally you give them ambient action.  I'm not sure what that would do.

If it was mine, I would comment out all except one of the Companions and get one working at a time.  The 'ladies' may be working by virtue of being the last ones in the file rather than the first.

I'm also not sure what is in your header files.  Those might not be needed in this script.

I really need more information to be able to provide any answer.  For example, your scripts.

#20322879 Can't connect to database.

Just for reference purposes, I use the default 2005 MS SQL 'that comes with the toolset on Win7 so it can be done

Going back to your reason for installing the toolset.  The toolset may or may not be needed.  Companion portraits are not changed through the toolset.

if you don't want to use mods, then what are you usingit for?

#20319468 Can't connect to database.

Posté par MerAnne sur 14 juin 2016 - 07:07 dans General Discussion

Until someone who knows more about it than I do sees your post (almost everyone), a few things to consider.

If you want to add mods to your game you don't need to install the toolset.  I think you intend to create your own, new mod(s), but just confirming. :D

There are several helpful posts on installing the toolset, you should also make sure that the advice is for the same version of Windows that you are using.  All that said, I also did searches on the error message when I had trouble installing the toolset a few years ago.

Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful, but if I could (eventually)figure i out then it can be done!

#20307645 2das to gdas...an alternative?

Posté par MerAnne sur 12 juin 2016 - 11:32 dans General Discussion

OpenOffice has not improved (or if it has, I pity those who used it before the improvement)

I agree that GDApp is a bit clunky, but I kept finding myself changing 'one more thing' after I created the GDA.  Over time, I found that I was taking the shortcut of going straight to the gda instead of starting in Excel.

#20307569 2das to gdas...an alternative?

Posté par MerAnne sur 12 juin 2016 - 09:33 dans General Discussion

Excelprocessor converts the files to GDAs.  GDApp can be used to edit the GDA files or to create new GDA files.

I haven't started with an Excel spreadsheet for years.

#20280696 event type team destroyed

Posté par MerAnne sur 29 mai 2016 - 11:10 dans Scripting

'team destroyed' - I have not used the team concept because it is not entirely clear (to me anyway) that the teams are specific to one area and there is no list of the teams that exist in the vanilla version of the game.  It would have definitely been easier for me to use the 'team destroyed' approach in the Companion Nightmares, but I was afraid of duplicating a team id.  That's why I checked to see if each creature in the team had been killed.  I can't say that it IS a problem, just that I thought it was less risk if I didn't use team_destroyed.

Posté par MerAnne sur 29 mai 2016 - 01:53 dans Scripting

HA!  I knew there was a way to leverage another script rather than copy the whole thing....

HandleEvent(ev, RESOURCE_SCRIPT_AREA_CORE);

This example comes from cam000ar_all_camps.nss  If I understand it correctly, it basically says "handle any other events using area_core.nss"  Yes, I could have and possibly should have used this statement instead of copying the entire creature_core, but I wanted to get something to work before I tried to do anything fancy.   :D

And I couldn't remember the statement when I was working on my_creature_core ;)

#20279463 Branan of Rainesfere

There isn't any way to go to Rainesfere within DAO

But someone could always create the option with a mod :D

There are no physics errors, but it also doesn't also generate pathfinding.  You can still walk across it with the keyboard, but not with the mouse.

This discussion thread was the closest that I could find to the problem that I was having :)
