#20342861 Looking for a freaky companion like me...

Posté par Shadohz sur 21 juin 2016 - 11:26 dans Multiplayer

So you are looking for feedback on what exactly? You don't want actual submissions? I think there are more party based/AI games than the 4 you have listed.

lol Of course there are more than 4. I have 300 games that are ready to be keyed in. There's no point in keying them in yet if I'm still changing the layout.

People with access can start entering data if they want. However I trying to finalize the questionaire first before going public with it. I'm looking for additional questions or metrics to look out for. There are many genres that exist and some statistics may be more important to other people than what I currently have listed (or not listed). For example "ADS-Aware" applies almost exclusively to shooters. It is important to gamers that the A.I. are not standing in their sights when they are using a ranged weapon. Some games build AI to move when the MC is aiming. Some games are really good about it, others are poor. RE6 is much better handling this than RE5. RE4 however has no ADS-awareness.

Yes it is:

All the platforms listed can be found online. I just went through and sorted them out by the date of their release.

Posté par Shadohz sur 19 juin 2016 - 07:27 dans Multiplayer

I'm working a new game project and I'm looking for feedback before I make the list live. I'm building a compilation of games that use companion characters/pets. This list is for weird people like me and like some of you that enjoy playing games with a companion co-op, team support, or party system.  Unlike some other lists, mine is going to be designed with more user feedback on actual features and not just complaints and superficial opinions on gameplay.

I've started the base of the list. The first link is to the Submission Form that allows gamers to enter in a game that does not exist on the list. The second link takes the gamers to the list. I'm looking for feedback on additional questions to ask or constructive criticism. I thought of adding in a Ratings System for the games AI button that's a bit more task-intensive than I'm willing to invest right now. You're welcomed to play around with the data entry but please put the word "Test" in with title so that I can easily erase non-valid entries.

Once is probably sufficient

Like the other ones, pinning by request as long as it stays civil in the thread.

Effective script. Got him on the first try. Maybe I'll repurpose it for my next contract negotiation. You won't get any trouble out of this thread. However I can't make any promises that I won't troll the pinned LFG thread. They cloned my project and didn't give daddy any credit for birthing the baby. I can get pretty ornery after I've been drinking alot... of coffee. Thanks

@ Everyone you're welcome. Glad to see people found a good use out of it. Btw you didn't have to wait for me to ask. You can always ask a developer yourself if you want a specific thread to be pinned. I may bless the game this weekend. My vanity won't allow me to fall to low on the leaderboard.

#20301458 The Unofficial DAIMP Equipment Document

Posté par Shadohz sur 09 juin 2016 - 10:32 dans Multiplayer

Sorry for the confusion. There was someone online impersonating my gamertag (No I don't mean using a same/similar tag. They were impersonating me.) I've used this nick for over 13 years besides for gaming. Apparently the offender though I wouldn't notice. Long story made short I had to shift my documents and copyrighted material under one umbrella. In the process the Edit Forms that were created for all the games I was track got messed up on the transference back in Jan 2016.

The DA3MP equipment sheet still exists and always has been active. You just probably didn't click the link. I'll move it further up in the original topic so that it is more visible. I however won't be re-creating the original Edit Form because it would be too time consuming and I don't have the time I used to have to keep track and fixing errors. After two years, I'd imagine you've all reported everything there was to be found or they are inconsequential to you. Happy gaming.

#20183221 Are the servers down or is it just me?

Posté par Shadohz sur 03 avril 2016 - 11:51 dans Multiplayer

That's the first thing I'd change

That's not it. Ppl quite often like to blame wifi for their issues because it's an easy scapegoat. I keep a spare ethernet cord laying around like an emergency condom for just such a case. I've used both wired and wireless configurations for gaming for quite a few years. ME3 has had this connection issue on both setups. It's one of the reasons I went back to using a wireless setup. It's easier to DC the console by disabling the unit than to keep hopping up to pull out the cable.

There's a problem with the authentication process where the game is trying to sign on after it tries validating your DLCs and savegames. I have no idea why it's intermittent. I only know how to bypass it by disabling it until you hit the MP screen or "redownloading" the MP dlcs (not actually d/ling by selecting Download Again which only does a spot check of the DLC files). That however is still a different problem than the connection issues with the game.

It's over guy. Let it go.

Holy crap you still work here? I thought you got lost in the downsize. Anyway it seems to be halfway working again. My game is freezing up everytime I launch it so it at least means it's hitting the EA sign-on server. I'll boot offline then enable the wifi to see if it fixes it.

#20027531 Dragon's dogma: Dark Arisen

Posté par Shadohz sur 20 janvier 2016 - 04:54 dans Multiplayer

I liked it for its gameplay, dragon fights and the companion system was rather unique. The companion AI could be dumb at times but if you learned the mechanics then it's actually fun. Alot of ppl complained of RE5's AI but didn't bother to learn what causes the AI to aggro and its weapon preference. I like having a loot bot so I always went with Acquire/Explore. My pawn was badass though.

If I were to ever get into game development () then I'd build something with the combination of State of Decay and DD-DA. Great game.

Sorry to necro this, but here's a request for update regarding darkspawn. In wave 4 torch, people probably shouldn't want to run unless they want the torchbearer to eat a couple face-fulls of bolts and end up dying.

I'll just add it as a footnote to OT. I don't have access to post-Dragonslayer content to agree or disagree.

I wasn't the first one to point that out - for 60$ we've all bought the game that was contained in a box or in shape it was during initial release.

MT read this entire thread from page 1-22. You keep bringing up stuff that's already been tackled by BWE or other posters. You're rehashing talking points that have already been explained, been countered, or were deliberately left unanswered.

#19531197 Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer Support for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Go...

Posté par Shadohz sur 09 août 2015 - 01:28 dans Multiplayer

-snip-

I'm just going to ignore what you said in response because you're either playing devil's advocate or being willfully ignorant of your consumer rights and everything discussed in this thread. Much of what you countered with I've already pointed out and some with great detail. If you're not sure how warranty and support (written or verbal) is included with point-of-sale (POS) transaction then I'd suggest you read my comments on this thread. Support is about disclosure, limiting liability for your company and informing your clients about the level and type of service they can expect(post-purchase). Support information is meant to be highly visible and as concise as possible, not something used for suckering people because they're being ambiguous.

The question that I asked you was rhetorical as were alot of questions I asked in this thread. The point I was making was that BioWare (and apparently T2/Sumo) is attempting to set precedence in the gaming market. It's not only bad precedence but contrary to other similar market practices. It's not only your right but responsibility as a consumer to demand change if they are operating in a manner that goes against your business interest and to report them to the proper authorities if they are using unfair or suspect business practices. If gaming companies want to start acting like the multi-national big boys, then they have to play by the big boy rules.

I defended BWEs because I know what it's like working under the pressure of deadline, having your budget cut and the adversarial corporate culture... but THIS? This is unacceptable.

#19527287 Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer Support for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Go...

Posté par Shadohz sur 08 août 2015 - 08:36 dans Multiplayer

Back when PS2 was still king, those were different times. I may be wrong, but also those two systems were pretty different, hence there weren't many (any?) cross-gen titles, aside from ports done later... I mean, where there even DLCs or patches for PS2?

I think you should rather ask whether there are other games available on old-gen that dropped support/DLC. Aaaaand... there are -> http://arstechnica.c...ng-dlc-support/

BW wasn't the first to do that and likely they won't be last.

This also doesn't just happen to games: http://appleinsider....vices-apple-tvs

In fact at this point I'm pretty used to the fact that I can't really do much/buy many apps on my old iPad 2...

Payday 2 released Aug 2013. They've earned the right to pull support since they've been supporting the game going over a year now.

Dead or Alive 5: LR released Feb 2015. What is this like the 3rd or 4th rebranding of DoA5. The article states that it already contains all the previous DOA5 dlcs and was recompiled with a different engine to "get better graphics". That's like buying a Platinum Hits or a Remastered then asking why they won't release anything new for the game. The game was already in its 'final stage' when it was released.

GTAV released Sept 2013 (a full year ahead of currentgen). Their most recent patch was released 7/8/2015. R* hasn't produced a single SP exclusive DLC for legacy since the game was released. All of their DLCs are for GTAO and they throw those MP guns/clothes onto your SP character/garage. When they released Heists, they avoided taking blame for the technical issues it produced. They were telling people that it was due UPnP settings and old routers (with a cloud-based game LOL). As always, a couple of fanboys hopped to their defense. Even as amazing was how fast the post was deleted when it was exposed that not only was R* dodging the technical problems but also lied about Heist vehicles not being functional in SP mode. They never finished it. On the plus side they holding to their patch support promise. Heists has been their only major DLC since release. All the others are pretty much vehicle, guns, cloths DLCs. I'm sure I'm not the only PvE player that has railed on R* for not producing more Heists/Contact Mission content for both SP and MP.

Forza 2 was released Sept 2014. That's only company out of this whole stack that unlocked the Ultimate Combo ---k Move.

Advertised they would support the game. Check.
Made no disclaimer they were pulling "legacy support" prior to the original sale. Check.

Issued the announcement via their forums off on their main page. Check.

Wait a minute. That's what BioWare did as well. Is it shocking that Forza gamers are reacting the EXACT same way as DAI gamers?  Original Xbox and PS2 went through the exact same transition phase as XB360 and PS3. Please tell us of instances where GPs were yanking patch and DLC support on relatively new games during the last transition period.

|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Horsemaster Shadohz reporting to continue beating on the dead horse.

To piggyback off what ThirdRace was saying, hardware has always been a limiter for software. Saying that DAI support was pulled due to the age of legacy platforms is reaching. Software is supposed by designed around a minimal hardware standard that should allow for optimal operation. This is called minimal system requirement. With consoles there is no minimal vs recommended requirement because the hardware for the most part is static. You start running into problems when you try to use an updated compiler (this case a game engine) to push the console at peak just so you can get a slightly better performance/quality on a newer version console. That's not the legacy consoles fault. That's the responsibility of the software maker to stress test and benchmark their application prior to deployment. Legacy gamers weren't expecting DAI to run the same on their system compared to nextgen, so why push them past an acceptable limit instead of scaling the graphics and features? Don't answer that.

Let's keep things in their proper perspective. DAI is one of a handful of games that attempted to produce both a high-quality SP and MP in the same release. In each situation you can see a visibly negative difference than their previous quality of work. I've made this same statement about GTAV, RDR, and ME3. You shouldn't be getting more patches for the SP than you do the MP. If you're going to go big, then why rush it out? Don't answer that. If the gaming market is going to make it a habit of releasing 1/2-3/4 product with the initial version and the rest in Patch Tuesday updates, then we need to negotiate a new financial arrangement, like half now and the other half later... if we felt like we enjoyed the game.

I haven't read where anyone specifically mentioned that support was being dropped because it was technologically impossible to do anything further on legacy platforms. To get around the PS3 lifetime DLC restriction, then you can simply press a DVD with all the installable DLCs, press a GOTY DVD, or make the DLCs separately available for purchase (and make a nice chunk of change in the process). We know that XB360 doesn't really suffer from a cumulative size restriction. So is the reason really technical? Don't answer that. Can Xbox One, PS4, and PC gaming expect the same treatment and get a sudden notification that they're no longer getting patch and dlc support? Don't answer that.

The takeaway from this should've been for BioWare to acknowledge their mistake(s) and take a serious look at modifying their existing business practices. Issuing a press release after the fact isn't an act of transparency but damage control.

Let the gamers decide if they want run with the updated patches or not. AT the end of DAI's support, roll all the patches and free DLCs into one giant free DLC. You can call it DAI: Service Pack 1. If it doesn't work well then we uninstall it and keep our latest TU. No harm, no fail.

Also a handwritten apology letter from your B.O.D. would be nice.

BioWare "comes clean" about their move away from legacy support: http://forum.bioware...-going-forward/

I would suggest reading the entire thread before making a response. Pay attention to what's been brought up by players. Pay VERY close attention to what was (directly and indirectly) and wasn't answered by BioWare. Before you go in there raging, you should know they are handing out warnings and bans for forum rule violations. My opinion after this exchange is pretty much still the same. I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

#19495894 Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer Support for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Go...

Posté par Shadohz sur 31 juillet 2015 - 05:00 dans Multiplayer

The reason I asked my sidenote is a matter of curiosity, I had heard from people that some products were released while they were technically prototype. Given my experience in the software industry is limited to Academia and the Game industry, I was curious.

I'm sure that goes on somewhere. More than likely that would occur in smaller companies, high performance teams or if your firm created a Vista-like application (so bloated internally that you didn't have time to add bells and whistles) I suppose. I'm sure I've tested a finalized program before that should've been marked as a Eval. What is a prototype is subjective. If I compare your release to a competitors and see that you only offer the basic features (bare functionality), then I'd consider it a prototype. If the final version of your product at the end of the year has +40 new major features than the original release, then I could say you released prototype. These are my own opinions mind you.

The only real difference between traditional software companies and what I can see from the outside-in with gaming is that games are expected to be near-perfect on initial release with a few updates as possible. Traditional systems are a bit more flexible. Once you get the base version out, you can set recurring periods for doing updates and enhancements every year. Great system if you don't mind repetitiveness, rigidity, and a steady paycheck. If the gaming market tried this you'd have a revolution on your hands. You already see how gamers feel about DLCs.
