#20056545 Protheans in andromeda

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 01 février 2016 - 03:37 dans General Discussion

Tinfoil hat twist on the idea of Protheans fleeing to Andromeda. What if Bioware's been misleading us this whole time... & the ark is actually a Prothean mission. Then there would be Protheans in the game as they built the ship, they're leading the colony, it's their show. And they rescued a number of lesser races(humans, krogan,...) on their way out. Our human characters & the other returning races would then be completely unrelated to those currently in the Milky Way. N7 images & Shepard's speach were red herrings... or the Ark's humans claimed the N7 after somehow becoming aware of our races exploits back in the home galaxy.

Passive agressive Bioware. Hires Baldwin, but has him play Vorcha or Elcor. Yes please!

#20044028 Adam Baldwin in Andromeda?

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 26 janvier 2016 - 08:24 dans General Discussion

That was pretty funny. I hope they wont stop talking to eachother.
A sort of Firefly reunion would be sweet. Nathan Fillion getting another Bioware role... Though it would be kind of sad that Gaider wouldn't be around for it, I remember the idea of Nathan coming back as a voice actor was somthing he would be pretty excited about. Alan Tudyk would be the one whose character I'd be most excited for.

It would be interesting to have some "deaths" or absences from the previous game be revealed as cover for the Ark project. To see characters like Kal'Reegar or Emily Wong come back.

#20030135 ME:A Wishlist

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 21 janvier 2016 - 06:53 dans General Discussion

My wish....
Would be that they throw in an easter egg for Stargate... Specifically SGU. It would fit really well. Both ME Andromeda & SGU have these grand galaxy crossing ships. Both series now have gone straight to the same place, Andromeda, following their original story. Both Bioware & Stargate had to go threw some pretty rough times with their fan's reactions to new releases & people being outraged with the inclusion LGBT themes & all that kind of drama. I was & am a big fan of SGU & Stargate.

So what I want is for you guys to KILL THEM ALL. Destroy the Destiny!
They said there was a chance their ship would come out of hyperspace early, & they'd be stuck between galaxies for thousands of years drifting. We should find that lost ark, a failed Destiny of some other race that fled the machines long ago. They died in cold sleep, in the dark between galaxies, far from home. A tragedy that befits the losses races have been dealt by the Reapers for billions of years & the end of a great sci-fi IP.

#20030107 Can't be the first cycle to have an ARK ship

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 21 janvier 2016 - 06:28 dans General Discussion

If you were a patient race that was willing to go to extremes. Bury yourself on a rogue planet. Let it drift between galaxies un-noticed. Have rogue planets/planet x/nemesis type planets shown up in Mass Effect yet? There's some sci-fi/conspiracy mythos you could play into there. Probably the closest & most recent example would be Defiance's purple people eater race that come from that planet with a weird orbit that only brought them close to their solar system every so often. A race that had to survive the extremes of crossing galaxies on a rock with limited resources & no sun to tend it would probably come out pretty ruthless.

It would be very reminiscent of The Original Mass Effect, in the way of finding wreckage while exploring, to discover one or two failed arks. Ships that made it, but the crew either died long before reaching or they never found a suitable planet in time.

What refund guy isn't going to make it?

Yes finally. I've been waiting here, for hours. I was supposed to be bound for Illium, but our shuttle delivered us to this ship by mistake. I know with the war & everything that transportation is a mess but this is ridiculous! I want a shuttle back & I expect no less than a full refund as soon as we're at the next relay... What do you mean there is no shuttle back!?

#19984750 Space combat?

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 02 janvier 2016 - 07:16 dans General Discussion

I think a single space battle that operates similar to the Joker sequence in Mass Effect 2 would be nice. Running around hopping in turrets or containing damage, making sure the ship is properly calibrated & all crew get were they should. As you play quick cutscenes play showing you the results of your efforts as the battle rages. It would be cool, as you play, to see the crew doing their jobs. A brief bit of immersion.

#19983217 Fate of the Raloi?

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 01 janvier 2016 - 10:35 dans General Discussion

They probably weren't considered a threat by the reapers and were put on the back burner while the reapers took out the major resistance. I mean they'd just made first contact not that long ago, right?

Then again.... Bekenstein. Binoculars.... they glassed the planet.

So no, I don't think we'll see Raloi.

I forgot about that. Got a good laugh out of it again the second time around. Binoculars. That line made Aller's look really dumb.... I mean even more so. But now with Andromeda Bekenstein being a manufacturing giant & how badly it got taken out is interesting. The Reapers weren't taking chances, they went for the kill. Maybe Bekenstein built the Ark or most of it. And Allers is just regurgitating the kind of misdirection Beckenstein hoped the Reapers would fall for. That would be pretty cool.

#19980998 The PAX Andromeda private panel summary.

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 31 décembre 2015 - 07:38 dans General Discussion

Since news is so slow, some of these might make ok threads in the meantime... Like which two races would you drop & why? What does N7 mean to you? Though suspect the latter could quickly be derailed & locked.
Heavy character model variation & armor mods sounds pretty cool. If this actually has anything to do with the game I'd be pretty happy to see that & get to play around with.

It would be cool if Rey makes a Lightsaber similar to Bastila's. She'll need her own after returning Luke's. Her main weapon is a staff, maybe she'd even convert it.

#19967391 What do you think about the high EMS ending, in which you survive if you choo...

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 23 décembre 2015 - 06:07 dans General Discussion

I think Shepard's body makes it through ok. But Shepard himself is dead. The being who lives on is the Catalyst, who in the final moments sought the only refuge it had left. He'll use Shepard's broken body to find somewhere safe to recover & plan the cycle anew. Perhaps venturing to a world or galaxy with a younger species, more easily influenced by a mere organic messiah.

#19966067 Spoilers. For those who've seen The Force Awakens.

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 23 décembre 2015 - 12:06 dans Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Again. A couple spoilers in this thread.

Couldn't help but recall the Star Forge when the Starkiller Base entered the story. They are completely different structures, with inherently different purposes. But they seem to opperate on a similar level. Maybe this was a nod to the EU, since they said they were trying to bring as much of that in as made sense. And KotOR is one of those stories you'd expect them to call back to. But is it too much to hope it could be more than that?

I recently heard that Rakata Prime, not Lehon, made it into the new canon as a planet. And with the similarities between the super weapons & some of the other themes in the film, maybe there is a chance KotOR will be legitimized once more? It seems they are working the threat beyond the galaxy angle (KotOR2) again with Snoke. So maybe the Starkiller Base is Rakatan technology redicovered, akin to the Star Forge, & Snoke is descended from the threat Revan sought to end long ago. That would do well to explain how the First Order got the weapon. In the film they claimed they built it on the backs of stolen children (who were somehow still fit enough afterward to also serve as their military backbone), but that rang very hollow. I think finding the base fits into the angle of them & Ren so desperately seeking out Dark Side artifacts. The Rakatan of the Infinite Empire seemed like they were crazy & evil enough to construct such a weapon at the hieght of their power & decline into civil war. Perhaps bridging the gap between KotOR & TFA could mean a new KotOR title on the horizon. Wouldn't that be sweet?

Regardless, watching Force Awakens was a lot of as a fan of Knights of the Old Republic.

I want to see one spar with a Gizka as part of a Krogan betting ring. EA has permission to use Star Wars, so Bioware can get some good use out of them for awesome KotOR easter eggs!

#19956600 The Collector Base Theory

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 17 décembre 2015 - 10:47 dans General Discussion

I find it unlikely the Collector Base itself could have been used as a base(edit- for the ark's design) unless Cerberus is the force(openly or otherwise) driving the Ark project. For one you have to go through Cerberus to get it. They have a presence there, & you have to some how sneak this by Omega. There's also the issue of the hostile environment, & the crazy Reaper husk monsters that Cerberus (what a surprise) set loose.

I find it much more likely that the Ark was either designed based off the Collector ships or retrofitted from one. The two look very much the same as far as the mid & forward sections go. There were multiple Collector Ships active before & during the war, so they were easier to acquire than the base itself especially in playthrough's with the base destroyed. I think it is very likely the freed Collector General sent Shepard alot of info on the Collector tech in addition to the info he shared about the Reapers before his death. They probably learned everything they needed to about buildling an Ark ship of the designs provided by the Collector's.

#19947993 Interstellar completely ruined Mass Effect for me.

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 14 décembre 2015 - 03:41 dans General Discussion

I wish that the collector base had actually had dilation effects upon it and I said this back in 2011. In fact I sort of wanted the second you 'defeated' the collectors the station would lose its orbit in the debris field and begin drifting into the course of a exploding sun or black hole. I mean seriously, you are placing the damn thing in a area of space where it is theorized there is literally only exploding stars, black holes and waves of traveling radiation and NONE of that comes into play.

I just realized something when I read your post. I was always a little bothered by how quickly the Reapers reached the Milky Way. But what if, you know. If in Mass Effect 2 time dilation while in Collector space had been an issue like you said. So when Shepard & crew complete the suicide run, years had gone by & the Reapers had a more of a stretch for them to simply crawl in like they did. That would have been cool & intimidating. I think really it should have taken centuries for the Reapers, but I would have taken however many years you could squeeze out of time dilation & keep character arcs in the galaxy at large good. Although it would have been a crazy what if for Shepard & crew to escape Collector space after decades or centuries (Edit - ugh, & centuries later Liara is still there ready to do her Shadow Broker thing. lol).

#19937405 The Fundamentally Flawed Premise(s) of Mass Effect: Andromeda

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 09 décembre 2015 - 08:59 dans General Discussion

I've been thinking about how good a chance we could see some advanced alien species. Also worried how much the crew could really expect to match them at all.

If the Ark ship does encounter some seriously evolved aliens I think one thing the Pathfinder might have going for them is Reaper tech. Sure the Reapers were a lot more advanced then the Citadel races, but at the core of all their tech was Reaper tech. Everything was derived from the Reapers at some level. So the Ark crew might be surprisingly on level with some strong Andromeda races. Reaper tech could be very alien to the races we meet, they might not be able to defend themselves as well. But that could go both ways. Another possibility is element zero & biotics. That was connected to the Reaper tech also, so it would be interesting if biotics were a completely new to Andromeda. That could give Ark crew quite an edge, make them valuable & feared.

Another thing that could save the Ark crew from immediate destruction is if the aliens are more concerned with each other than to bother with some strangers. That we are unknown aliens, who no one should have a grudge against, might make us very valuable. We could freely trade & mediate, without bothering anyone too much. Like Lawrence of Arabia, getting by because you are against no one & no one is offended.

It will be interesting to see just how advanced some of the new races are, & how the Ark crew is able to survive first contact.

#19937202 Mass Effect: Andromeda Will Have Four Times the Size of the Galaxy Map of ‘Ma...

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 09 décembre 2015 - 05:34 dans General Discussion

I wonder how the galaxy map will work anyway. No relay network. Everything unexplored. For story reasons I imagine they'll put some exploration caps.... fuel/resource limits, encountering some kind of tech that requires you level to get passed, having to make treaty with some race before you can move ahead. Maybe some areas are reserved for dlc also, so you wont actually find much there until their stories & races are ready for release. Having a big map could still mean lots of empty space.

I bet a lot of it will be small descriptions, discovered artifacts like before. Only more so, because they have to establish an entire new mythology & background of a whole galaxy. There's going to be a lot of exposition, a lot of explaining, because we'll be the fish out of water character. There'll be races thinking they could take advantage of our ignorance so discovering information to use against them will be great for persuasion/intimidate checks. Haha, I am ready for the info dump.

#19935125 There doesn't seem to be any reason why the Geth should come to Andromeda.

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 08 décembre 2015 - 08:28 dans General Discussion

Geth leaving the milky way makes sense. The milky way seems like a dangerous place, trying to sneak around the reapers is too much trouble. Machine race doesn't have as much to worry about sending themselves across dark space. Majority of Geth are too attached to Rannoch to leave, but a small group sent out is just good strategy. They probably even got a much earlier start at vacating the galaxy. So if the Reapers or Quarians wipe out the Geth, the group sent to Andromeda still has a chance. It still risky though. Going to a galaxy that hasn't had the meatbags cleansed repeatedly by Reapers means there must be many god-like hyper advanced races that have had immense spans of time to evolve & advance their tech.

#19924597 Jade Empire Game Icon

Would like, but got it already for GoG.

CDPR send me a discount for a physical gwent deck via screenshot varification of game ownership, I'm sure you guys can figure something out outside that promotion.

It's free. If you already have Origin anyway, might be worth logging on & just clicking on Jade. Never hurts to have an spare copy, plus there may be the badge.

I think it had been a full year or more since I last touched Origin, but I to go there for Jade. Already have the physical disk & bought it on GOG so it was nice it being free.

Jesse Reid says Bioware might add a forum badge for Jade Empire now, thanks to the giveaway.

#19919988 What do you NOT want to see in ME:A?

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 01 décembre 2015 - 07:12 dans General Discussion

Intrusive Origin/go online pop-ups. Keep them them out of the player's way in Andromeda. I don't think Bioware would ever go that far... But EA? I don't mind it too much if they ask when you load the game like with Assassin's Creed & other games. But my experience with Battlefront has been so horrible. I didn't want to mess with the online features because I was trying someone elses game on their system... But EA interupts you after every offline mission begging you to go online. After a few levels I got tired of it & stopped playing. I'm really worried that Battlefront could turn out to be the new standard as far these go online ads go, it ruined my experience with that game & it would be terrible having to face that again in Andromeda & any other EA titles.

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 27 novembre 2015 - 11:15 dans General Discussion

Hilarious villain. Like Alpha Protocol, dude snorts coke & comes at you with a knife hilarious? Also terrifying! I bet Bioware could come up with something as funny.

Actually I always thought some of the minir villains in Mass Effect could be pretty funny. Like the V.I. / Krogan merc interaction early on.

It was nice being able to drop down once in a while, between threads & catch up some. Read some good stories. I understand if it wasn't getting a whole lot of attention there though, pretty far to scroll down for where most people are in the forum. I was just a little curious. Thank you

Posté par Neoleviathan sur 19 novembre 2015 - 10:38 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Oh yeah. It's just kind of weird that we can take something from a fantasy story & bring it out in the real world like that.

There's going to be a lot of medical application to it... I figure by that they'll intentionally give them diseases to learn how to fight them in people. The other side of that coin is that they might be able to rid purebreeds of their worse defects & give pets better healthier lives. That'll be a good thing, reduce trips to the vet & avoid ridiculous vet bills.
