#20180150 The one BSNer you would want to meet/play with

Posté par Fortack sur 02 avril 2016 - 12:51 dans Multiplayer

My origin is goofyomnivore. I use to have you added a long time ago (around beta I think) my tag was _strive_ then. I stopped playing tho, and I guess I was hacked in September, so all my friend's list got deleted. I use to play with sabresandiego a lot. But yeah I started playing again a month or so ago.

Ah, I think I remember you now. Good to see the old ME2 gangsters are still around. FR on its way!

Played a couple games with Archon_Shepard yesterday. Dunno if (s)he is one of the glorious BSN race, good player though.

Things started badly, which I blame on my Justicar with her weakspot for Banshee - Hey sis, come over here and hug me, plz! A stunlock course was up next so lets forget that part too. The last game featured two Turians in shining armor. What else do you need to know.

Good games!

#20179932 Recent Game Highlights and/or Low Points

Posté par Fortack sur 02 avril 2016 - 09:17 dans Multiplayer

High: Playing ME3 again after a long long time. Claymoaring the crap out of everything and headbutting enthusiastically.

Low: 9 waves on a good host with nice teammates, but then Origin decided it was time to shut down my computer. Looks like EA has improved its trolling abilities even more, ah well ... nostalgia at its finest I suppose.

Mr. Boz and Kronner. I really loved their Mass Effect 2 videos.

Just reinstalled ME3 so you might get the chance to play with a real Krogan!

What's your Origin ID? Friends call me Fortack these days, EA and other inferior pyjaks have to address me as LordFortack ;)

Haven't heard from Kronner for a while though.

#18441828 Video addressing Bioware community feedback and employees, glitches, bugs and...

Posté par Fortack sur 22 janvier 2015 - 08:01 dans Multiplayer

*snip*

Based on your posts in this thread you seem to be a nice guy. We might even be friends. I do, in fact, have a couple friends with whom I mightily disagree about some pretty important things. We have heated debates about it and drink beers afterwards. I consider that to be a sign of a healthy friendship / relationship. Perhaps I can illustrate what the point is through an example:

Lets say you're hanging out with one of your friends who suddenly asks you if you think he looks fat (which he does). What do you do? You could lie to him and tell him he looks fine and is only imagining things. You don't want to hurt his feelings, he's your friend after all. You could also tell him that he looks like a pig and smells like one too, which isn't nice and not very helpful (or friendly). You could also tell him that he used to be in a better shape. Talk about how you like working out in the gym while watching pretty girls getting all sweaty and stuff. Or invite him over for diner (a healthy meal instead of junkfood).

The first option is the worst one (your friend deceives himself thinking he looks fine). The second is slightly better but not really constructive and probably an exaggeration (he'll likely get angry and defensive). The third is the best one. You are honest without being condescending and you present options to deal with the issue. Your friend might never have thought about working out or a diet if you hadn't mentioned it, and even if he wasn't fat at all it would still be a good thing for him to do those things anyway.

Apparently, the folks @ Bioware have become so childish and insecure that they want people to lie to them so they can feel happy about themselves. Even people like Penguin - who has proven himself to be a friend of Bioware, an ally, someone who wants to help make things better or fix broken stuff - is immediately viewed as the enemy because he dared to share his reasonable and evidence-backed opinion about some important stuff that is hurting the game and the community as a whole. I have the utmost respect for people like Penguin and his constructive and informative feedback; I have nothing but contempt for the way Bioware deals with these things.

He was talking in the context of the workplace.  Granted, it doesn't exactly fit this situation and he said as much.  If you are talking about politics and religion at your work...I really don't know what to say to you about that.

The most dangerous and destructive morons are those with specific religious and political ideas - and usually they don't particularly like it when others dare to challenge and scrutinize those ideas. I'm hugely offended by the stuff those people are doing on a daily basis and I try my best to let them know what I think about them and their idiotic ideas. Anywhere, anytime, anyplace.

It's weird but true. I do care about my fellow human beings, my brothers and sisters. Computer games are dust in comparison, but that doesn't mean I can't give my opinion about the ones I paid for and enjoy playing. If you want to improve something, you first need to figure out what the problem is. You cannot do that if you're not allowed to talk openly about it. It's that simple. Dealing with a couple fools or trolls or other idiots is a price I happily pay to improve the life and well-being of my kin - and even to get better, more enjoyable, less buggy computer games.

I work in human resources, specifically internal dispute and evaluation between employees in a consultant firm in Montreal. I've been doing this over 8 years so I've heard numerous complains and disagreements throughout the years. There are basically 3 things from my experience you do not do are  talked about your religion, talk about politics and you do not publicly  show your disagreement towards  one of your colleagues. (Yes' I know she is not your colleague but the principle is the same). The reason why is that those subject create tension at work and divide workers into camps. Some will side with you , some will side with the other person (Human nature)

So what kind of work did you do those eight years? Picking your nose?

Whenever I see someone doing or saying something I believe is wrong, I consider it my duty to challenge their beliefs. I share my knowledge about the subject and hope they will do the same for me. That's how you learn. How you improve the understanding of yourself, others and about the world we all share. This process is also known as the Scientific Method - the most powerful tool humans have developed. It's why we have computers and can play video games in the first place. If everyone behaved as stupid as you did we would still be living in caves.

#18439379 Bottom line, after more than 2 months and Forum

Posté par Fortack sur 22 janvier 2015 - 03:03 dans Multiplayer

my point is to show Bioware without provocation (so that they are actually listening)

that they didn't do a "good job" here...

That's kinda hard these political correct days. Whenever anyone tries to start an open and honest discussion about anything it doesn't take long for someone to start pulling the hate-speech card: You're a rascist! A bigot! Stop spreading Biowarephobia, stupid hate monger!

Everyone who cares about the work they're doing. About the product they're making, and the people they're making it for, are, by definition, very interested in everything that could possibly improve their work, their product, and their customer satisfaction. Sadly, those people no longer seem to exist at Bioware, which isn't a good sign for future releases to say the least.

How are you all this upset over bugs in a video game? Where are you in your life that a piece of entertainment that you've successfully enjoyed for a slew of hours can elicit such feelings of intense rage? How does the game not working at 100% bug free equal "being disrespected"? Those are personal emotional issues being projected into an issue that has nothing to do with feelings.

It's like everyone is so ready to crucify Amelia or any dev that actually makes the effort to communicate that they feel entitled to act however they want. And to what end? Some twisted sense of emotional gratification? Penguin and others are taking this somewhere emotionally unhealthy to such a degree that it has nothing to do with BioWare and everything to do with themselves.

Did you watch the video or are you seriously saying that a 30% critical game failure rate is perfectly fine? Perhaps I am an overly emotional and angry Krogan, but I don't think it is. I stopped playing this game for random number generating reasons a long time ago, and sadly have to thank Penguin for his most enlightening video. I take his word over any Biobot or related pyjak.

#18293156 Latecomer grinding likely not worth the effort...

Posté par Fortack sur 06 janvier 2015 - 06:03 dans Multiplayer

By my (proud Krogan) standards, DAMP isn't even a game. To earn that right, it has to have some sort of relationship with the Warrior Code. Combat is decided by lottery tickets. That's inexcusable, laughable and absurd. Even the Salarians wouldn't sink that low. Shame on you Bioware!

I won't even mention the level of Claymoarphobia in this disgrace of a game. That would be to rasist.

#17848108 Why didn't DAI cause a "This will be the death of ME3" thread?

Posté par Fortack sur 23 novembre 2014 - 07:59 dans Multiplayer

I was expecting - "No Claymore and no Drells", but this will do I guess.

DA:I does have Claymoars, but they ain't go BOOM and there ain't Krogan to wield em properly either.

Terrible game 1/10

#17701949 Will you jump right in to multiplayer?

Posté par Fortack sur 09 novembre 2014 - 02:07 dans Multiplayer

For me it will depend on how difficult the SP campaign is going to be.

If it's a joke (like ME3) I will use SP to get used to the basic gameplay mechanics before going MP; if it's going to be challenging the other way round.

#17701893 Vanguard, the underused class

The Krogan use a more practical approach. We learn to enjoy life at the vanguard first, and learn how to become immortal cheat (with Biotic Charge) second.

#17701020 Cheaters in DAMP...

Posté par Fortack sur 09 novembre 2014 - 10:05 dans Multiplayer

Will there be any improved way to track down cheaters in DA Multiplayer? If its like in ME3 Im probably not going to invest much time in DAMP.

EA & Bioware don't care about cheating. They care about their RNG stupidity store and desperately want people to roll that dice using real money.

If you get rid of the horrible ME3 RNG system (so customers will get all the stuff they've paid for within a reasonable amount of (play)time) you lose >90% of the "cheaters".

#17696625 The big "Can my PC run DA:I" Thread

Posté par Fortack sur 08 novembre 2014 - 07:53 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I'm just wondering if I can launch the game at all? I bought Watch Dogs and Shadow of Mordor and I can't play either of them because they need DX11 and Radeon HD 4600 is DX 10.1 max.

Those two games are DX11 only. That's why they won't launch. DAI can handle both DX10 & 11 so that's not going to be an issue.

If your PC can run BF3/4 it should be able to run DAI. It will be bad, probably unplayable, but that's a different story.

#17695589 Reload hiding: weapon and power combinations that work well

Posté par Fortack sur 08 novembre 2014 - 05:33 dans Multiplayer

Have you managed to hide the reload into Drell kicks reliably? If so, it might be due to the longer animation...

No idea why it works for Drell light melee (I doubt it has anything to do with animation times).

AFAIK it is very reliable (on par with using powers for reload-hiding), but due to my unsurpassed Krogan aiming skillz (and the High Lord's blessings) I don't have to use it that much. It's really great for those "how the heck did I miss that shot?" moments though, just kick to stagger the enemy so your next shot cannot miss.

#17695022 Gimmee your best builds

Here's a classic Krogan Shaman build. Using PPR of course. I mean, what other weapon would a Krogan Shaman use... Seriously?

I was considering sending you a welcome back message ...

Instead I will be sending the Bloodpack Assassination Squad a message about a certain Shaman ...

#17694966 Reload hiding: weapon and power combinations that work well

Posté par Fortack sur 08 novembre 2014 - 04:04 dans Multiplayer

AFAIK all powers can be used to hide the reload animation.

What bothers me is that pesky Drells can also hide reloads with their kungfu kicks (light melee) whilst the Honorable Krogan Headbutts do not :(

#17694892 The big "Can my PC run DA:I" Thread

Posté par Fortack sur 08 novembre 2014 - 03:51 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Thanks, that was a helpful explanation (and yeah, 540w calculation was from cooler master website).
I was a bit concerned 'cause I came across some stories about how some people with less than 750W PSU fried their components for using R9 280x.

You're welcome.

The R9 280x requires 250W tops (that's a lot even for GPUs - most manufacturers recommend a 500W PSU) so you should be perfectly fine with your 600W one.

AFAIK pretty much all components use protection systems to prevent heat damage (heat is the worst enemy of PCs) which automatically shut down your computer once it reaches its thresholds. You really have to try hard to fry your components these days.

PSUs can cause damage though (which is one of the reasons why having a high quality one is so important), but only when they break down. Wattage doesn't play a significant role unless you would argue that a 1000W one is less likely to fail than a 500W one (when used in the same system) simply because it doesn't have to work as close to its max capacity. Just remember that quality beats everything else. In your example a high end 500W PSU would be vastly superior to a mediocre 1000W one.

#17694113 The big "Can my PC run DA:I" Thread

Posté par Fortack sur 08 novembre 2014 - 12:50 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Does anyone know if 600w PSU could handle R9 280x or R9 270x without frying other components?
My CPU is AMD FX-6100, ram is 8GB (2x 4GB), and mobo is 970a-ud3.

I tried calculating the power consumption, but results from cooler master and neweggs calculators are too different.
One says my PC will use 542w while the other says over 1000w.

Those calculations are ridiculous. There is no way that setup is going to need anything near 500W under full load (unless you have like 35 HDDs installed or something). Don't underestimate the importance of having a solid PSU though, it's one of the most critical components - affecting performance, stability and longevity of everything else you put into your PC.

It's perhaps worth pointing out that there are two ways to look at power consumption. Power supply efficiency is defined as the amount of power actually provided to the internal components, divided by the amount of power drawn at the wall. A 50% efficient PSU that’s tasked with providing 50W of power to a system will draw 100W from the grid. The extra 50W is lost as heat. A 90% efficient PSU would draw 56W in the same circumstances.

So perhaps the 542W (calculation from coolermaster?) might actually be reasonably accurate, assuming it means the wattage your PSU pulls from the grid. Your 600W PSU is perfectly fine for all single GPU rigs.
