#19727875 About Krem..

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 22 septembre 2015 - 08:14 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I personally loved Krem for his personality and his quips with the Iron Bae. It makes him more likable if you end up romancing the Iron Bull becauuse you get attached to the chargers and what not. However. I do agree that several of his fans are only fans of him soley on the fact becauuse he's transgender which shouldn't be the main reason why you like someone. After all, everyone raves about Ruby Rose how she's so androgynous and beautiful despite looking very masculine despite the fact that she's not that great of a person (pretty much outing Demi Lovato). If we're talking about a 'better' character who is transgendered, I would definitely agree with good ol' Mae. She made the comics for me honestly and I really hope that Bioware invests her to appear. I mean she has to. We're apparently heading for Tevinter after all.

#19711063 Trespasser ruins Iron Bull's personal quest for me

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 18 septembre 2015 - 10:10 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I honestly don't understand how people who 'liked' bull are suddenly upset when he betrays them... you kinda sactificed his friends and pushed him more towards to Qun, how could you not think that could have any real consequences. Honestly, in the vanilla game, I always thought it was weird how Bull acted the same if you ended up killing the chargers and the romance continued. No matter how much I play I can never sacrifice the chargers, unless I'm playing my salty, pragmatic assquisitor.

#19705387 So tell me what does DA4 need to have to make it truly amazing for you? Pleas...

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 17 septembre 2015 - 12:41 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I really disagree. Healing was removed for a reason. That reason being to make planning bosses more challenging AND PREDICTABLE.
Before they had to plan for having a healer so that each boss wasn't a complete pushover which meant that you needed a healer. It was inherently restrictive. Now you don't need a high investment for the same purpose which means you can slap barrier on any mage and fill the roll at a cost of 1 point as opposed to a cost of the entire character.
I'd love more support options don't get me wrong. Bring back the rest of creation and entropy. Not healing just because.
Healer spec would be even worse. It would make every encounter need to account for it which would almost require you to slot the one character who has it in ala anders/merill.

Well if not a healing spec at least one healing spell or something. I understand that they'd have to account for every encounter with healing and the possibility but it can easily be balanced like with a long cooldown or something like that. Plus make it accessible to all mage characters including party members. I agree that I hated DA2's organization of spells where Merrill literally couldn't even learn a healing spell and even if she did it would go against her spec so Anders was practically required if you're not playing a healing mage yourself. It's not like healing is that broken anyway since by DAI's mechanics, you can infinitely revive someone just by interacting with them like in a shooter anyway. I just think that they should bring it back in a more convenient although strategic sense. I'm sure the gameplay devs could think of something. In retrospect, I do agree that a healing spec would be bad becuase it would have to account for a possible healer as well but at least an actual Support spec, since all of the mage specs were basically DPS. Rift Mage was basically a glorified Force Mage, which was CC plus some DPS spells while Necromancer was also another CC/DPS spec and KE was DPS and kind of support but the expansions on support were so minimalistic. I just want to be able to play an actual support character again.

Someone suggested a nice system prior to the release of DAI.

Two (hidden) meters that would define both how the people like you, and how they respect you...

It may be harder to implement, but it would allow for more nuances...

I really dig this system but it'd be extremely hard to implement. It's very well thought out of however and actually reflects real life relationships since you can respect someone but not like them personally or vice versa. Plus they'd have to implement several types of values on all of your choices including your minor ones which would probably be coding oblivion. But something like this would be extremely choice.

#19702530 So tell me what does DA4 need to have to make it truly amazing for you? Pleas...

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 16 septembre 2015 - 11:56 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

My wishlist for the next installment in Dragon Age (Since I doubt it's gonna be called DA4 with the current title schema)

  • Bring Healing Spells back, at least in some capacity where you slap large cooldowns or something, really hampers roleplaying and typical RPG elements like a healing support. I don't mind the barrier system but healing would be great. Would be super cool if you have a healer specialization again and that affects some situations where you can help.
  • Character Creation that's better. Honestly, I think it's ridiculous that they don't have more variety in hair options and that they don't add long hair because it 'clips' when so many other things clip in game, Ridiculous excuse. Also hair that's animated at that, I find it strange how everyone's hair is like glued on clumps of textures. Seeing other games like TW3 or even fighting games like DOA5 have animated clumps of hair is enough for me, just something to look wooshy and give the characters more life.
  • Fenris,  that is all. Honestly though, I know he might not be in everyone's world state becauuse some have killed him but please a cameo at the very least. He's apparently at Tevinter right now anyway is he not?
  • More choice in Combat, DAI combat was great in my opinon but it could be better. I hated how they limited us to 8 abilities. At least bring back the Radial Menu (in consoles) from previous games so that we can use abilities that we have before. Honestly, it's ridiculous how we learn abilities but don't get to use them because we don't have them equipped. It's really immersion breaking for me.
  • More choice in general, unlike a lot of people, I actually liked the way dialogue was in DAI, it allowed me to shape my quizzy's personality more without having 3 archetypical personas autopiloting my PC (looks at DA2). However, actual choices are still not very present. Everything has similar outcomes aside from major choices. I want some more minor choices that can cause whole world states to be different. I understand that major choices lead to a similar ending becuase it'd be hard to create a sequel game where something major may or may not have happened but Bioware has done it already with ME2 with almost half of the companions being either dead or alive by the beginning of ME3 but still hold significance to the story (Garrus, Wrex, Tali, Kaiden/Ashley, etc.)
  • More Armor variety, They honestly teased the idea that we get to equip our own armors onto our companions like in DAO but honestly most of them are just some additions here and there and all retain some identity of the original style which was their intention. Unfortunately all this did for me was make armor stuff really boring unless it was an armor style that was unique and different.
  • Keep Race Choices,  elven race supreme elite, in all seriousness. I didn't realize how Racial choice was such a big deal for me. I wasns't too bummed when news came out that DAI would be humans only again like in DA2 but having the choice to choose a race again reminded me how game building it was to make different characters and I really hope they won't have to take that away.
  • More involvement with PC Past - I know they didn't want to waste resources on origin stories becuase half of them are probably never going to be played by most of the population of their gamers but at least add more involvement with their past. Sure in DAI there were wartable missions that had honorable mentions like in Trespasser (If you're Dalish and your keeper became a councilman for Wycome or something) and what not but there should be more in game stuff, like at least being able to visit your clan again or at the very least be visited by your keeper at the end in like DAO.
  • Bring back Friendship and Rivalry - I vastly prefer this system than just regular approval or disapproval. I hated how approval can lock you out of content in DAI and if you wanted something like a quest then you need to either metagame or play out of character to cheese some approval points out of people to access their quests. This was super annoying and I much rather prefer Friendship and Rivalry because it never made me have to worry about the points. Instead, it notified me on what direction the relationship is leaning towards, something I prefer more. And at that make approval visible in game per person, I thought it was dumb and pointless to include a pointbased approval system without having an approval bar. Yes, they wanted to keep things realistic and not too gamey but a notifier would be great please.
  • Hand Auto attack for Mages - I was actually a fan of the staff dance autoattack for mages. I thought it looked cool af and made me look like Avatar the last airbender or whatever and it was great. However, the hand shooting allowed mages to be mobile while attacking like an archer not rooted as it is now. Plus it makes sense for the auto attack to come out of their hands since the already have magic without needing a weapon. The staff equipped (assuming they're going by the same system) will affect the elementla projectile for the autoattack.
  • More missions liek WEaWH - This mission was insanely fun and I loved seeing my party members reacting to an event. Also if we have formals and balls, can we pretty please have atual formal outfit. Like a fricking dress on my shequisitor, an the outfiit leftt over.

#19702478 Premature Speculation for DA4 Thread (Spoilers)

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 16 septembre 2015 - 11:34 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I'm hopping aboard the theory that we're going to play someone Orlesian just because in DA2 we played a Ferelden in the Free Marches. In DAI, we played a Free Marcher in Orlais/Ferelden.

#19678693 QUN-Loyal Iron Bull in Trespasser (SPOILERS, obviously)

It was oh so satisfying to hear him say 'No thanks maam" and I was like yassss because I'm a bull rider and my Lavellan was so happy his vhenan didn't betray him.

To be honest, aside from the Staff of Archon which is widely considered the best staff although is now obselete compared to the newer dlc staves, I don't see how anyone could really choose to sacrifice a colorful cast like the chargers. I can never bring myself to do it. They're too likable and the elven qunari friend was kind of an ahole. Thank god for youtube to let me watch what would've happened.

I also got the same bug and I had Celene/Briala as finals for each other but Gaspard was apparently emperor. Also, they said I exiled the wardens which is false. I concur that this is a bug to do with the voice file or this particular conversation. Playing on PS4.

Same thing guize, note said that Briala and Celene were together but Teagan mentioned Gaspard being emperor, he also mentioned exiling the wardens but I didn't. I believe it's only this particular conversation that's bugged, but other than that I think everything's all good since the codex entires are hard coded to the game and world state.

I'm playing on PS4 btw

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 08 septembre 2015 - 05:12 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

i also wished that specializations played more of a roll as opposed to some honorable mentions and one particular cutscene when you kill the dragon lol.

On the note of specializations, I wished that companions had special specializations like in DA2. I understand that the companion specializations were honestly just glorified renamed versions of specializations already existing but they also had character to them. Like Merrill's dalish magic, ANders with JusticeVs.Vengeance, or Fenris' Lyrium Ghost.

For example. I hated how they labeled Cass as a Templar even though lorewise, she's a Seeker who have similar abilities to Templars but more expanded. I wished what was stated in game reflected the lore.

Andwhile w'ere talking about Bodahn and Sandal how about we bring back Wade and Herren as well hahah.

Also on a sidenote I'm highkey hoping Harding returns as a companion. Her and her VA Alli Hillis (Liara from Mass Effect and Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII) are the best.

trying to go for the balanced ending... lost count of how many times I repeated the last mission now.

btw which one does it refer to when blackwall says "I just know you could shake the world to its foundation if you willed it"?

It's been confirmed by PC players who manipulated the game using cheatengine to make the amount of wartable missions done by LelCulJosie equal that it doesn't exist in game. It defaults to Secrets if all are equal. I was gonna try and farm the ending as well but no cigar.

LIKE WHY CANT WE HAVE MOVING HAIR YET WHY

but really though. I mean if you're not gonna give us that many hair choices, at least animate the hair to look like actual hair as opposed to mesh's glued onto our head. I mean Morrigan's hair moves in DAI.

#19659092 What do you want to see in DA4 that you didnt in DA:I

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 08 septembre 2015 - 04:53 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

One thing I hope returns is the quality of the main quests like DAI. Champion of the just, Your heart shall burn, Abyss, WIcked hearts and pride has wrought where all amazing and that quality needs to return for the main quests, but even bigger number.

those main quests were all great. I just wished they were longer and that there more of them.

Yeah, they're good stuff. But I'm with you, I was there in that big thread about how the ending felt super-rushed, back when we were just wrapping up our original files. We needed more stuff after WPHW, goodness gracious. A setback to the Inquisition type mission. The old "there should have been an attack on Skyhold" line, you can basically insert it here. There really should have been.

YES, a million times yes. We built Skyhold like it's a fortress that could get attacked at any moment and I was shocked that there was no attack on Skyhold along the vein of IN your Heart Shall Burn.

W/ regards to the mage rebellion and the mage/templar war. I felt like it didn't even last for a second lol. DA2 had so much build up for the Mage Vs Templar war, after all, that was practically DA2's entire plot. Asunder also was buildup for the mage/templar war. DAI solved that in no less than like 4 in game hours if you did story alone.

#19659074 What do you want to see in DA4 that you didnt in DA:I

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 08 septembre 2015 - 04:48 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

A game that does not feel it ends at the middle (what pride has wrought always felt like the middle and bioware was rushed to finish the game and we got that joke of a final quest)

Side quest on par with TW3 side quest.

More options to be ruthless and continue having a proactive protag. Don't return to a reactive protag like Hawke plz (I enjoyed begin a merciless pragmatic inquisitor, but it would be fun to just have an ******* which you can't do in DAI, least you can be racist)

More towns or real cities

Better AI, tactics and tac cam. More support abilities. Also no 8 skill limit

I toootally agree w/ regards to WPhW, it didn't feel like the second to last mission. When the game told me that the final mission was coming up, I was like 'Seriosuly already?" Like we just had the well of sorrows and we can't use that in anyway other than to get a dragon 'or turn into one in Morgs place' and go after Cory already? That was so lame.

And I hate using TW3 comparisons with DA because they are completely different but a thousand times i agree. I played TW3 and omfg, every single side quest had such meat and sustenance. They were actual side plots that had their own consequences that could lead to destruction or resurgence, and these are just the side quests we're talking about. And ofc being able to shape your PC's personality more like being an agressive asshat who kills anyone in their way, like the prisoner in ostagar.

I'm with you for sure. I definitely wanted more cut scenes out of the game I feel as if it's not that the Over the Shoulder is bad it's just the perspective of their over the shoulder they choose.

If you go back and loom at the Alpha GA.relay of PAX I think it was the first perspective they choose was much better for the conversations and such because it made it look more immersed and more like a cutscene the entire game back then looked more immersed to be honest. Just felt better what do you think?

And as for blood Magic if they put in Blood Magic i don't want them to ignore that out character is a blood mage like they did in DA2 I want to be brought up and we have to deal with actual consequences of being a blood mage like demons attacking us or demons coming out of nowhere to offer us more power.

As far as healing I wouldn't mind it back. But I do really like the Barrier system so I would hope they incorporate them both. And everyone has to remember that DA is a semi strategical game so healing needs to be strategic. Maybe You beat less out if combat so u can just spam heal out of combat. Or barriers heal after they have been depleted. Or there's no instant healing but only healing over time.

What do you think of how the Alpha was compared to what we have now?.

There was so much in the Alpha that had so much potential lol don't even get me started. When I saw the Alpha I was so happy becuase they kept the cutsceneesque conversations but instead reverted to what is now present in Inquisition. I concur with blood magic. I hated how Hawke was all 'I hate blood mages, they're abominations and terrible'... and meanwhile I'm like. Uh... Hawke you're a blood mage too lmao If the game was like the Alpha we'd have a completely different game, and most likely a better one at that.

I forgot to add, not being limited to 8 skills and bring back the proper radial menu like in DAO and DA2 for consoles. It makes no sense to having characters who learn abilities but can't use them becuase they aren't equipped. It's like

Iron Bull: Solas the dragon is weak against Ice, use Winter's Grasp!

Solas: I... I can't...!

Iron Bull: Why in god's name not?

Solas: I just... I can't seem to use it... it's not accesible to me at this very moment.

Iron Bae: -__-"

#19658997 please bring back healing in the next Dragon Age

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 08 septembre 2015 - 04:27 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I was so disappointed they took healing out because of roleplaying reasons too OP :(

God I was sooo disappointed and sad. It eliminated all aspects I had in my mind of my Quizzy being a sweet caring spirit healer who helped out his companions and healed the sick and what not.

This is a lore driven game if you let functionality come first then your just saying fuc it to everything they've built. That's like adding a teleportation spell in the game when we all know it's no possible with the rules of magic

I totally agree. There's some stuff in the game that's already questionable and ridiculous like the fallout plan ability, like honestly what lmao. Dragon Age is all about the lore, it's what carries the game and gives it life. Lore should always come first in a game like this. Prioritizing functionality however is what EA does best.

And get rid of Guard. What the heck is that anyway? I know what it does, but it makes zero sense.

I sort of agree lol. Guard is very useful and what not, but lorewise, what is guard, and how does it accrue and how does it protect oneself. Regardless I did actually welcome that addition because it made Warriors more useful as a tank.

#19658985 What do you want to see in DA4 that you didnt in DA:I

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 08 septembre 2015 - 04:24 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I agree with everything everyone said. Also, please have more towns and hubs. I iked the little settlements and villages here and there but I want a huge town, city hub thing. Something Denerim or Amarinethine would be nice but I would hope that they'd aim for bigger. Val Royeaux was such a dissappointment. I was expecting a grant city for the Orlesian capital and instead we got a post stamp of a city.

Also more quests like WIcked Eyes where everything is more dialogue based and choice based as opposed to straight up fighting. I love dialogue options that leads to outcomes. Expansion on choices and what not.

Being able to talk to your companions outside of your base. I missed this so much since DAO. And although it's not a priority I also hope for more romance options that would make everyone happy. Not saying let's make everyone bisexual/playersexual like in Dragon Age 2 but an equal amount of choices for those who have preferences. For example. If you were playing a female and wanted to romance a male, you had waaaay more choices than any other gender/love interest combination. But like I said this isn't a priority, I'd prefer fleshed out romances as opposed to more choices as well.

Actual tactics as people have said and good maker, healing, please for the love of the creators healing. Also I wished there were more chances to explore the main character's past. Like if you were an elf, to meet up with your clan or a qunari to meet up with your merc buddies etc. I was so hoping the Keeper of the Inquisitor's clan to show up at the ending banquet like Fergus or Irving would depending on the origins placed. Something that's world building and allows you to create more attachment to your PC. I really do hope they stick to having multiple race options in DA4. I know that DAI was originally set to have just humans like DA2. Ironically I didn't feel bad that we could only play humans in DA2 but being given the choice again in DAI i realize how powerful it is just to be able to choose a race and how powerful it plays throughout. So I'm hoping they keep the races and origins and possibly expand.

More cutscenes. I don't care what anybody says but I like cutscenes where I can make decisions. I hated how 45% of the game was the awkward over the shoulder coversations. It felt so static, not immersive in the least and it was weird. I liked the cutscenes when you're having a conversation in DAO because it's more intimate, more immersive and more well executed than the lazy over the shoulder thing they did in Inquisition.

Blood magic. I'd like to see how they'd incorpoerate BM again if at all. I understand that the Inquisitor couldn't be a blood mage, how could the leader of such an org be a BM but I'm hoping the main character in DA4 is somewhat of a Hawke where they're not placed on such a high pedestal at least not so early in the game.

I don't think repeating war tables count. I abused Leliana for "gather leather" to get so many bear claws and still got force.

Repeating war table missions definitely counts. You probably just have a lot of cullen done. I started off with force ending but I kept repeating resource missions with Josephine so I could get the connections/diplomat ending, an ending I preferred more.

#19658813 please bring back healing in the next Dragon Age

Posté par adorkable-panda sur 08 septembre 2015 - 03:19 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I agree pretty much with what everyone else is saying. The barrier system doesn't make spamming less spammy, after all, we spam barriers now so what difference does it make. I loved DA2's system because like someone mentioned already there was already a longggg cooldown in place of healing magic which makes the game more fair and balanced and is also lore friendly to the 'Healing is limited in battle because it's chaotic' but taking out the option to heal on the fly completely seems preposterous. The fact that the only true healing spell in the game is in the Knight Enchanter and is the ult/focus ability seems like a total copout. (Though I guess it makes sense since they were trying to go for a spellblade/paladin motif for the KE anyway). What I want is a true support specialization.

And also for those who say there is healing. I understand there's lots of healing in the game from potions to special skills to lifesteal and hp on kill but I want traditional rpg Cleric-style healing. It's been a staple in roleplaying games since the beginning of roleplaying games. It also allows me to differentirate my mages. At this point, my Quiz, Viv, and Dorian are all basically dps when I want them to play a more supportive role, more expanded upon becuase the 'support' abilities already provided don't really cut it when you want to be a complete and total support. I'm talking, Glyphs of paralysis, repulsion, damage mitigation, and of course, healing.
