Last time we only had one origin we also only had one race and had no input. They could do it like Inquisition where you can reflect on your background, like decide if you were born into it or captured, was your magister compassionate or cruel, etc.

I'd prefer that regardless of race or class we start at the same point: a slave of the Imperium. It deals with a lot of the problems that come with making protagonists like asking questions most people should know the answers to, connects us to the events in the game, and can lead to interesting story routes.

The problem is that all Tevinter nobility are mages. If you're not a mage, you're not part of the Altus social class, period.

besides it would be really interesting to have someone with no magic coming from a family who have been mages since there has been an Imperium, Don't get me wrong I'd play magister as well

Agreed.  I played the underdog and the outsider already (Lavellan and Adaar as Inquisitor, Amell and Tabris as Warden, mage Hawke at the beginning of DA2).  I want to be The Man for a change

It would be a travesty to go to Tevinter with such a paltry repertoire of spells as we had in DAI! If the devs don't resuscitate the spell trees, the Qunari might as well just march in and put the Magisters out of their withered misery.

It is normal, some people think Tevinter will fall like Constantinople, I prefer to believe in an aggressive reform, something with impact. Unless you can be in the Qun side, in that case is another story, but I think the Qun will be portrayed as something evil as ever, so I think we can not have that option, so I think Tevinter will continue as before.

The Imperium just needs its own Justinian and Theodora to come along

Most likely. Tevinters highly value magic and pair  their children off to produce the best quality mages. It's a bit like eugenics, pairing people off because they look a certain way and encouraging the magic gene to become more prominent. As for the mundane in the family? Kept in the background or married off to someone outside Tevinter.

A question about Tevinter (this seems to be the right place to ask)

since the Imperium is split up into classes many based on magic and family history would a child of a high class who was born without magic instantly fall down the class levels, or would they stay in same class as their family?
