#18986576 incendiary Ammo and stuff

Posté par ToYz_R_RusH sur 16 avril 2015 - 12:38 dans Multiplayer

If you're looking to exploit the warp (incinerate, inferno grenades, blah blah blah) + incendiary ammo glitch, nothing screams cheese more than the reegar.

#18986495 Damage or Radius?

Posté par ToYz_R_RusH sur 16 avril 2015 - 12:11 dans Multiplayer

Radius most of the time, but for ED I think the target cap is 2, so radius isn't as beneficial.

I always go radius on ED, but that's because I always seem to miss the pryo in front of me and ED the enemy next to the pryo with no shields... I like having that extra radius so I hit the pyro too.  To each his own...

I could be wrong, but I believe some of the powers are broke without radius...  I remember it being discussed years ago (and perhaps fixed since then).  I want to say either proxy mine or sticky grenades (or both) is (or was) buggy and you need radius in order to have the power work correctly.  Can someone fact-check me on this?

#18980621 The easiest / most viable Platinum PUG builds?

Posté par ToYz_R_RusH sur 14 avril 2015 - 10:12 dans Multiplayer

Enemies nearby: Singularity -> weapon -> shockwave -> rinse + repeat
Single Boss nearby: Singularity -> weapon -> shockwave -> weapon -> warp -> rinse + repeat
Distant enemies: Singularity -> weapon -> warp -> weapon -> warp -> rinse + repeat

When you get the timing right, you'll get two biotic explosions from singularity.  It primes, something detonates it.  Prime again with something else, then singularity's detonation (rank 6) will detonate the second primer.  I usually go 4/4 instead of 0/6 for passives, but if you're looking for survivability, go 0/6.

Scorpion for on-host phantoms.  PPR everything else.

Slightly less powerful, but more survivable than GI.  Think hybrid between GI and TGI.  Treat energy drain like stim packs, but use more frequently.  Don't forget to debuff and set off explosions with proxy mine!  Also effective with Black Widow or Javelin (Cloak to 6, fitness to 3).

Enjoy.

#18972508 Invisible Host?

yeah, I've had that happen a few times and a friend, Gamma Lead, was able to explain it to me...

It happens when someone promotes their chosen class and doesn't choose a new character prior to the host quitting out.  Regardless if that person ends up host, they will be invisible.  It's easy to fix though- just play a game and it'll correct itself.

I wasn't bashing folks for using cryo ammo. So the joke clearly flew over your head.

For the rest, I'm not going to bother.

"Cryo and Acolyte is a combo you see very often on him due to this vid by a BSNer called "Platinum made easy" or something like that. Course any other ammo is better on him (especially Incindiary, of course), thus how you know whenever you see this setup; somebody was really hurting for not sucking at this game and looked up for some cheese help and stumbled upon that video like everyone else. Why I think it's funny everytime I see it."

That sounds exactly like you're bashing folks for using cryo ammo on that build.  I don't know how else to take your statement.  A joke is only a joke when others understand it.  The above statement is bashing folks who use cryo rounds because of your belief that people who use them on the GTS must suck "at this game and looked up for some cheese help..."  I assure you, I don't suck at this game and you made this personal when you made that statement.  There's nothing funny about someone spreading bad information because they are too arrogant to understand how something works.  There's also nothing funny about someone assuming people must suck at the game because you lack the skill to use what someone else does.  The only joke I see here is you believing you're correct...  There's more than one way to play a character.

He already did. He too knows there are better ammo for that kit + Acolyte. Vid is outdated.

Did he change his name on the forums?  I just went through this forum and didn't see anything posted by him.  Proof or it didn't happen.  Also, there isn't a better option- there are simply alternative options depending on your individual play style.

#18948904 Geth Trooper is BS

Hey, it's a free internet world. So your opinion is valid too (outside of spreading false information).

That and I see the joke flew over your head too.

And benifit of Acolyte? Yes, I see it too. Why I don't like to use it. Because I can play well enough, thus don't need crutchlite help, thank you.

I think Cryo Rounds are the worst ammo, but don't mean I don't use them. It's called handicapping myself for more challenge. As I'm against too optimum builds. Prefer more hipster with focus on fun builds. But that's just me. You don't have to play like I do or be forced to enjoy the stuff I enjoy.

And no, Cryo Round do not weaken armour for making Flamer stronger. All it does, beside slowing down enemies, is reduce the armour dmg penalty of bullets. That's it. Not extra dmg from cryo round whatsoever. So you're the one lacking knowledge here + spreading false information.

Once again, you're proving yourself to be a complete idiot.  Wait, is that the joke? ... That you make fun of people for using something you don't understand?  Or is the joke that you pretend to be too good for certain kits because you pretend to know more about this game than you actually do?

I spread NO false information in my post.  Your posts, however, seem to be full of it.  Cryo ammo DOES affect flamer.  It applies a chilled / frozen effect on the enemies, which separates itself from weapon damage and spreads it across the board, unlike the massive damage boost from warp rounds to primed targets.

Incendiary ammo adds a fire effect to the enemy.  Guess what?  It can be affected by powers (which is why it can be detonated)

Disruptor ammo adds an electrical effect to the enemy.  Guess what?  It can be affected by powers (which is why it can be detonated)

Cryo ammo adds a chilled / frozen effect to the enemy.  Low and behold, it can also be affected by powers too!

These effects are not applied strictly to weapon damage.

Cryo ammo works more like cryo blast instead of snap freeze.  That's why it can only be detonated when the enemy dies.  I take it you weren't around in the old days when this used to be the case with other explosions as well...

There is nothing wrong with focusing on 'hipster / fun' builds.  Refusing to optimize the build, however, is idiotic.  (seems to be a common theme with you...)  I love taking an HSol with an avenger.  Sure, the HSol is more powerful with other weapons, but you can optimize that build to be effective and efficient on platinum (focus on tech bursts).  It's fun to do, but more importantly, it only works when the character is ... *dun dun dun....* optimized.  Bringing a Javelin and Claymore on an adept with an SMG rail amp, combatives upgrade,  stability mod, and explosive rounds while trying to create tech bursts is not.  Sadly, from what you're writing, I'm left to believe that you might try this build...

You're the one spreading horrible information.  You're the one bashing Cainceited when he isn't around anymore to defend his build.  You're the one bashing every player who uses cryo rounds (especially on a GTS).  Why?  Simple... because you don't understand the game.  Stop.  The only reason I'm flaming you is because you took it upon yourself to bash those who understand how to play and you don't.  Stop.

Thing is, it isn't always necessary to flame for longer periods.

I wholeheartedly agree! I haven't watched your video, but I suspect we do the same thing... flame in between acolyte shots while it's charging up (or reloading, etc).  I was rather hasty when I wrote the comment and didn't (still don't) know how to best phrase what I do with certain enemies (especially brutes).

Brutes are already slow.  Cryo rounds make them a statue.  I'll usually kill them quickly with 2-3 shots (flaming between shots) but I'll sometimes pop a a shot + very short flamer just for some DOT and use them as a shield.  Imagine, for example, you have some mooks and a brute nearby and a ravager shooting from across the map.  Hit the brute to slow him down and use him as a shield from the ravager.  You'll then be able to focus fire on killing the mooks while DOT severely damages the brute.  When everything else is dead, finish off the brute and chase down that ravager.  ie)  flame the brute over a longer period of time than normal so you can cause more damage to other enemies without having to take cover.  Does that make sense to you?  I hope it does, 'cause I don't think I can really explain what I do without finding my capture card and making a video of it.

#18944086 Geth Trooper is BS

Cryo and Acolyte is a combo you see very often on him due to this vid by a BSNer called "Platinum made easy" or something like that. Course any other ammo is better on him (especially Incindiary, of course), thus how you know whenever you see this setup; somebody was really hurting for not sucking at this game and looked up for some cheese help and stumbled upon that video like everyone else. Why I think it's funny everytime I see it.

I see you've done a platinum solo (once) so you have that going for you... but you're still an idiot and your arrogance is astounding.  The GTS can be setup a bunch of different ways and still beast everything.  YOU may not like cryo rounds, but that's probably because you're play style doesn't compliment them.  When you start playing the game well and learn how to use characters to their potential, you'll eventually see the benefits of the acolyte / cryo rounds on the GTS.  Saying your way is the only way to play the character effectively and efficiently is like saying the GI javelin is the only way to build the GI.

I don't know how conceited did his build (and I'm too lazy to look) but I prefer a 65654 build.  Damage is optional instead of Reach.  Hurricane is optional as a secondary (if you have troubles killing guardians).  Feel free to substitute a cyclonic instead of a power amp, or engineering kit instead of stronghold package.  This build gets you the strongest flamer and still allows you to be rather beefy.

The Acolyte (as we all know) is awesome for dealing with shields.  Cryo rounds will freeze mooks so you don't have to worry about them from far away.  It slows down enemies so you can flame them longer (like brutes).  It also weakens armor, meaning your flamer does even more damage.  In platinum, that makes a HUGE difference.  Sure, you can use other ammo types and get close to the same outcome, but I'd rather save my other ammo types for characters that can better utilize them (and suck with cryo ammo).  The GTS is one of the few characters that greatly benefits from cryo ammo- there's no reason not to use them on him.

Don't knock something just because you're not good enough or lack the knowledge on how to properly use a character (or in your case, both).

#18940696 Am I the only person here who....

Posté par ToYz_R_RusH sur 07 avril 2015 - 01:16 dans Multiplayer

The claymore is one of the heaviest weapons around... No matter what you set the character for, by using a claymore, you are severely lowering the practicality of any power dependent character. Adding Hi-V barrel and omniblade increases the weight so much that you might as well use a character that prefers grenades, 'modes' and/or stationary objects as the primary abilities

the HVB and omniblade does NOT increase the weight of the claymoar.  I could've sworn I made that clear in my last post... stop saying that it does.  K, thanks!

#18938754 Am I the only person here who....

Posté par ToYz_R_RusH sur 07 avril 2015 - 01:26 dans Multiplayer

If I am ever tempted to use hi V. barrel, I would rather just use shredder and Hi C. barrel

BUUT... I wouldn't use a claymore... for one BIG reason, the sole reason for not using Hi-V barrel.... weight penalty

Weight penalty shouldn't be a problem if you spec 50% not to trigger CD on biotic charge, or if you spec out of shock wave and get max weight reduction from passives (or both).

What weight penalty??  The claymoar and wraith don't get penalized by the extra weight from adding an HVB or omni-blade.  ALWAYS HVB over HCB on these weapons...

Looks like nobody's seeing what you're seeing...(?)

GI Javelin (I)

Base damage: 1236 (Level I Javelin weapon damage)

Rank 1 cloak: 1730 (40% more than base weapon damage at level I)

Rank 4 cloak: 2225 (80% more than base weapon damage at level I)

Rank 6 cloak: 2781 (25% more damage than rank 4 damage)

GI Javelin (X)

Base damage: 1546 (25% more damage than weapon at level I)

Rank 1 cloak: 2164 (40% more than base weapon damage at level X)

Rank 4 cloak: 2782 (80% more than base weapon damage at level X)

Rank 6 cloak: 3478 (25% more damage than rank 4 damage)

Seems like it's calculating properly to me...(perhaps reword your findings so we can better understand?)

There is a difference in damage between level I and X, but you won't notice it much except on certain weapons.  The Adas, for example, only sees an 83.11 DPS increase (assuming reload cancel, no bonuses in passives, etc) whereas the Raider sees an increase in 245.39 DPS.

Yes, a level X does more damage than a level I weapon, however the results are rather minimal.  I'll take a level X claymoar over a level I any day, but a claymoar is a claymoar... the javelin is a javelin, and the harrier is still a crappy weapon.  That is all.

#18925912 Am I the only person here who....

with weapons.  In other words, powers were designed to maximize the potential of weapons.  If it was the other way around, all weapons would have 0 weight.  Cloak, snapfreeze, proxy mine, warp, cryo blast, tac scan stasis, etc.  all make weapons do more damage.  Why not take advantage of it?

Further, other powers are designed to make shooting easier!  Energy drain, incinerate, snapfreeze / cryo blast, stasis, submission net, overload, hawk missile launcher, etc. all cause enemies to become stunned, trapped, frozen, or something similar.  ie) quick and easy kills with a weapon.  Why would I wait for my cooldown when I can now finish them off with a quick shot with the executioner pistol?  I can then use the cooldown time to trigger a reload cancel- no time lost but more enemies dead.

Running around creating a splosion bess with the fury / huntress?  Cool.  Strap on either an acolyte, arc pistol, hurricane, piranha, scorpion, eagle, talon, CSMG, BPP, etc.  Even if you have throw (fury) setup to reset instantly after a big boom, it doesn't matter.  You will still have time before and after (especially with bigger enemies) to shoot.  If I run into 5 enemies, I'll make a big boom, take two shots with a weapon (killing two enemies- I'm a good shot) as I move around repriming for more booms.  Now I have two less enemies shooting at me while I'm either waiting for a cooldown or trying to prime something with my field.  Less enemies nearby means less chance of dying.  Boss enemies - to not shoot is a complete waste of time.

Shadow- are you focusing on Shadow Strike?  Bring an acolyte to strip shields and then make the strike do massive amounts of damage through cloak, strike, weapon/power and fitness passives.  (go armor damage on fitness!)

Lastly- the use of ammo types to compliment your weapon (and powers!)  If you focus more on electric slash for your shadow, why not slap on incendiary or disruptor rounds?  You'll get level 7 (assuming your power is evolved to rank 6) fire or tech explosions... all because you fired your weapon first before using your power.  Or, use the debuff from ammo types (like cryo rounds) to do more damage (cryo rounds = WEAK armor).  Better yet, hit a scion with warp and then unload your weapon when using warp rounds.  You'll get the debuff from warp (weakened armor, more weapon damage, more damage to armor and barriers), AND you get the benefit of warps.  (Warp IV: more armor weakening, plus your weapon doing 60% more damage, and you'll be doing an extra 100% weapon damage because you primed them first with warp...)  That stuff adds up quick!

FYI- my average time for a platinum solo is about 35 minutes.  Yesterday, I did a 'no weapon' solo (although I did use rockets for wave 10 targets).  The game took 55 minutes.  That's 20 extra minutes because I was too lazy to use my weapon...

Sorry for the essay...

All I ask is this- If you're not ready for platinum (or even gold), don't pretend to be.  Relying on characters like the Juggernaut, TGI, or AIU is a no-go- although playing them once in a while for fun is fine.  I'll be happy to play whatever difficulty you want - including platinum, even if you can't solo bronze (although playing bronze is fine too)- as long as your up front about your capabilities.

Slow-relaxing games, fast-slaughter games, speed running (if we have the people), random characters / weapons, or perhaps you just want to learn... I don't care.  Tell me what you wish and then let's go kill things.

I have a mic and I use it.

A Juggy should never HM a phantom to death unless they need the shields.  HM to disable, shoot weapon / use powers to kill while the phantom (or whatever) is incapacitated.  A Juggernaut HM build is NOT helpful to a team, just as a Volus spamming shield boost is NOT helpful.  I'll gladly solo a match before I assist a leecher.

If you're using the CSMG instead of the hurricane, try going the Ice Warrior route...

Ice Warrior

Some people opt out of the grenades and choose adrenaline rush instead, creating a 'true' ice warrior.  I, personally, prefer to spec into grenades so I can deal with large groups of enemies at once.  If I'm attacking a major spawn, I'll switch to the Acolyte for its area of effect (and to help strip some shields), then bombard it with a bunch of grenades.  The power amp on the acolyte is to gain maximum damage output while throwing grenades.  It also does wonders for those pesky phantoms... concussive shot to make them bubble, acolyte to strip shields / apply cryo-effect, concussive shot to knock them down / slowly kill them.

Enjoy!

Edit:  The heat sink is bugged and won't help the CSMG at all... The Magazine upgrade, however, works wonders.
