Posté par DuckSoup sur 30 juillet 2016 - 07:11 dans General Discussion

Love you guys. Definitely got me with the feels, this. So long BSN - thanks for everything :'
If you care and want to keep in touch, details are up on my profile.
Cheers & Goodbye.

#20219594 Why do some of you girls maybe guys like ( love ) Solas so much ?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 avril 2016 - 04:23 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

1. All about the accent.
2. He's confident and self assured.
3. Hard to impress.
4. Huge nerd about the fade (which is both appealing and irritating).
5. Bit of an arse, tbh.
6. Accent, accent, accent!!!
7. Forcefulness.
... and so on...

I love and hate him. I can see why so many think he's awful, though.

#20219575 DA romances are unhealty?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 avril 2016 - 04:09 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Most healthy and fulfilling relationships do not involve attempts of sperm jacking or terrorist blowing up buildings or plans to destroy the world .

Fyi, many good, healthy and fulfilling relationships are sometimes boring. You know why ? Because there is no drama in them, the partners just accept one another and work out the occasional issues they do come up against.

That's quite a touchy response.

I was generalising, but of course I know that not all relationships have drama nor do they need it to be successful. I am happily married, in a stable relationship that goes through normal every day stuff with a beautiful two year old. And I'm not complaining. But why also assume that just because there is a bit of drama or some crazy going's on in a relationship that it's automatically unhealthy? People have different ways of dealing with different situations and some thrive on that sort of stuff. I'm not into swinging, for example, but some couples get on just fine with it.

I don't think my point is invalid just because you disagree with it.

#20219277 DA romances are unhealty?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 avril 2016 - 12:00 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

Aren't they just realistic? All relationships, sexual or otherwise, come with varying degrees of bullsh*t. If everything were easy, it'd be boring. That is also why endings should not always be rosy. As painful as it is, sometimes you shouldn't get what you want. The good guy shouldn't always come out on top.

#20163834 Romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Thoughts?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 25 mars 2016 - 10:29 dans General Discussion

I've no interest in playing The Witcher so its not a problem.

#20163675 Romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Thoughts?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 25 mars 2016 - 05:48 dans General Discussion

Well, I'm not about to turn away when the scene happens - that's childish and I'm not petty - but I do understand what you're saying about cost. I appreciate it would be tricky to do.

I personally don't see how it enhances the story anymore than a scene with kissing, pushing onto a bed and fading to black would. Why the need for ****** shots, butts and weird grinding? It's a video game not an movie. And even then I think it's unnecessary. In a tv show or film, I find that it completely lowers the tone and puts me off if the smut is relentless. Yay! More women showing off their arse! (On that point, I would be slightly happier if the balance were equal and we saw more men kit-less)

Apparently this makes me a square. Though I think it means I like to keep sex a private, intimate thing shared between two (or three, if you are into it) people. Unless all parties consent to being watched, that is.

For me, the game would benefit greatly from having romantic encounters instead of sexual ones. I'm not adverse to perhaps there being certain options only that lead to a sexual cut scene, if chosen. Or perhaps a member of your party - such as sera/iron bull/Jack - having more intense cutscenes because that's their nature. It should be relative to a character's character, no? Seeing Solas get hot and heavy would have been completely out of keeping.

I found the Mass Effect romances in general to be lacking. Most of the time I cringed at the poorly written dialogue. And most seemed to flirt with the idea of love and it was said it a few times, but it never felt like there was any love there. Garrus' was the only one I felt like there was anything genuinely there between them.

Yep.

#20162873 Romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Thoughts?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 mars 2016 - 08:57 dans General Discussion

There are some fans of this series who would likely disagree. A certain overly exuberant quarian fan comes to mind.

And that's fine - I won't judge. Just give me the option to turn it off (or on!)

#20162867 Romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Thoughts?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 mars 2016 - 08:53 dans General Discussion

Right on. I may be the minority here, but the "scenes" in the Witcher 3 made me uncomfortable.

I'm all about feels and fluff, no need to sweat and.....stuff.

I'm 100% with you on that.

I wouldn't walk into someone's bedroom and watch them having a good time, so I'm not overly interested in seeing it on any platform - except my own. And maybe if it involves Justin Bieber. Yum.

(Yes, I'm a 32 year old married mother of one. I... should be ashamed)

#20162854 Romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Thoughts?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 mars 2016 - 08:46 dans General Discussion

And no, we don't need ridiculous sex cutscenes, thanks. I'd much rather it be implied with kissing and on-top-of-clothes type stuff at the absolute most. The scenes with Cullen and Solas in DA:I were great. More romance than smut. Or, at the very least, please give us the option to turn it off. I'm not a prude - I love a good session - but I'm playing a friggin' video game here. I don't need to see awkward pixelated thrusting. Blegh.

#20162838 Romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Thoughts?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 mars 2016 - 08:38 dans General Discussion

As long as the romances are written better than in the last three games, I'll be happy.

#20162803 Am i the only one who has a problem with males in this Franchise?

I disagree completely. All of them show strength at some point in one way or another.

#20162793 I'm so tired of playing the hero. I want something darker.

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 mars 2016 - 08:14 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

That said, I don't care for everything turning out happy and perfect either. I like my games more realistic.

#20162785 I'm so tired of playing the hero. I want something darker.

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 mars 2016 - 08:11 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I also agree the the ending was a bit of a kick in the face. Or, at least, what I've seen of it (I'm yet to finish it fully - only seen clips) It does seem a bit of a douche move to have almost everyone that you worked for 100+ hours to get on your side, suddenly turn against you and leave you neck high in do-do.

Or maybe that's just one ending and there are alternatives. Idk.

#20162763 I'm so tired of playing the hero. I want something darker.

Interesting... that's exactly how I see the average person.

Yes, quite. I think there's something in the water.

No conscience, no morals, no interest in social norms. The ability to care only for one-self and not give two hoots who you have to crush in order to get to where you want to be. Missing what makes an average being "human". That's a psychopath. I'm not entirely sure Bioware would have the skill to write that.

#20162705 Solas Romance {Spoiler}

Posté par DuckSoup sur 24 mars 2016 - 07:43 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

It is heartbreaking, but I'm glad it ended the way it did. It would have been a shame if every romance in DA:I worked out positively because, like in real life, love isn't like that. It's wonderful, cruel and bloody hard work.

Solas disappearing and then reappearing in the DLC(!!!) At first I thought maybe it might work out. Maybe I'd have my happy ending. But alas. It just made my heart shatter all over again.

For me it was probably the best writing in the game.

#20147750 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par DuckSoup sur 16 mars 2016 - 10:05 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

My first romance with Blackwall left me slightly crushed - I may have taken him back but gosh it was a big pill to swallow.

I've taken it slow with Cullen. I'm only on my second playthough now and we've not even danced at Celene's yet. I'll get there tonight...

I'm fragile. I can't rush this. He's, like, dreamy.

#20147710 What is your favorite party combination?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 16 mars 2016 - 09:36 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I'm so lazy, in terms of having to update the character record, that I literally only use the same people I originally had; Solas, Cassandra and Blackwall. I'm a rogue Archer and Solas has all-round magical training. Cassandra is a one-handed "tank" and Blackwall has a sword and shield. It hasn't failed me yet on my second playthrough.

#20050885 Any couples?

Posté par DuckSoup sur 29 janvier 2016 - 03:47 dans Multiplayer

Is this the same thread that I posted in before? I dunno. Me and my husband met through mutual friends on Mass Effect MP. It was pretty whirlwind - we met a few months later in Paris, then got engaged the second time we met. Married the following year and now we have an (almost) two year old daughter. It happens.
