#16437004 Clothing

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 17 avril 2014 - 08:20 dans Alistair Grey Warden Weddings

*seizes the thread back from the coordination crowd to babble about clothes ;) *

<snip>

or the blue one I called "Cousland", since it echos the Warden blue armour, without BEING the Warden blue armour. (If that makes sense...)

<snip>

The blue clothing/amour set is beautiful - I agree it would give the grey warden blue armour look and not look uncomfortable or too heavy etc. etc. ...

And the clothes are important, they can make quite a statement in any scene - at least, in my humble opinion. :)

To me, getting married in heavy armor is not really.....comfortable?

Yeah, good point...I like the noble leather armour better.  :)

I'm thinking... would it be completely inappropriate for Alistair to wear a Grey Warden outfit for the wedding...? It would hold significance in that he is still with the Grey Wardens, and this being a Grey Warden wedding....

I quite like the mods that used the warden outfits from DA2...

I'm thinking something like this?

So I decided to join Twitter.

The tutorial is making me feel resentful and ordered around, and I can't figure out how to describe myself for the bio part.

Off to a bad start?  ;)

Yeah I know what you mean and same here! I think I just decided to write on my bio "I have no idea what to write about myself"... it is a placeholder for now until I think of how to describe myself! :)

#16273836 Unable to open toolset

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 21 mars 2014 - 11:19 dans General Discussion

I made the mistake of updating to windows 8.1 this evening and now I am getting an error message when I open the toolset which says:-

"Unable to initialize the graphics engines. This can be caused by the DLL missing, other required DLLs missing or the wrong version of Direct X installed."

The dialogue box then goes on to advise me to run the configuration program and verify settings. I did run the "configure toolset" utility which is saved in c:\Program files\Dragon Age\Tools but it doesn't seem to have worked.

In the past I have occasionally had this issue (with Windows 8 and prior to that with Windows 7) and after a few tries it has resolved itself...but this time it seems a little more permanent. :(

Any idea on how I can get around this or do I have to attempt a reinstall?

#16225859 Having trouble downloading ME3 DLC from legacy site

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 11 mars 2014 - 11:22 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

You don't have to search for it. Just right click on Mass Effect 3 and choose "Show game details" (or something alike - I only have the German version). If you scroll down a bit you'll find all the DLCs.

Thanks for the advice - typically I only noticed that after downloading the dlc using the other link

#16224394 Having trouble downloading ME3 DLC from legacy site

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 11 mars 2014 - 07:25 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

Download ME3 PC content from Origin.

I tried searching for it on Origin but couldn't find it.

Try this link: https://social.biowa....php?pcid=55146

It's the own PC button refers to.

Or you buy/download the DLC directly from Origin which is the easiest way since the DLC needs Origin to download anyway.

The link appears to have worked - thank you! :)

I am trying to buy/download the Omega DLC for the PC from the legacy site (http://social.bioware.com/page/me3-dlc)  but I only get as far as the screen with the options for PC/Xbox etc. When I click on the option button for PC nothing happens.

Please advise!

#16209755 Modded Armour not appearing as item variation in toolset

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 08 mars 2014 - 09:25 dans General Discussion

#16209700 Modded Armour not appearing as item variation in toolset

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 08 mars 2014 - 09:12 dans General Discussion

Sorry me again! I'm trying to re-install and download the modded items I used to have on my older machine onto my new machine.

I am having trouble making the Grey Warden modded armour appear in the toolset. As far as I know I have installed the files correctly using the DAzip tools in the bin-ship folder and put the appropriate items in the overrides folder but when create a new item and try to select the variation no grey warden option shows up. This is really frustrating and very odd since it works fine with the same files on my other toolset/machine but not on my new set up. I have no idea how to fix this and have been going round in circles the last 2-3 hours trying to figure it out. :( Any advice would be appreciated.

(the mod I have installed is temp774's Grey Warden armors)

Edit: btw it isn't likely to be a mod conflict as this is the only mod I have installed.

#16207945 Problems with importing builder 2 builder

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 08 mars 2014 - 02:53 dans General Discussion

With some help from Sunjammer we managed to fix this and other issues - oddly windows 8 seemed quite happy with the restore method much to our surprise. Not complaining - its helpful to know that this method exists since using the builder to builder method doesn't appear to be very useful. I'll be doing backups in the future for sure!

And I have my project that I thought I would have to recreate has fully returned to me - I am so happy about that! :D:D:D

#16207287 Problems with importing builder 2 builder

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 08 mars 2014 - 10:15 dans General Discussion

Right so I have tried the process of backing up the database on my old PC - when I run the batch files it says it is successful but no backup file is saved in C: Backups... when I look at the log I have the following information (as I suspected it looks like I need to faff around with the Security rights to the DA toolset database):

Backup Batch File initated on 08/03/2014 at 10:10:11.31
using the following config.ini settings:

         Backup/Restore Config file

         c:\Backups\
         [Name of New Backup File]
         bw_dragonage_content_001.bak
[Path to Directory Containing Existing Backup Files]
         c:\Backups\
[Name of Existing Backup File to Restore]
         dummy.bak
         -------------------------------------------

Following command line being executed:
sqlcmd -S .\BWDATOOLSET -E -Q "BACKUP DATABASE bw_dragonage_content TO DISK = 'c:\Backups\bw_dragonage_content_001.bak'"

Msg 916, Level 14, State 1, Server AMY-PC\BWDATOOLSET, Line 1
The server principal "Amy-PC\Amy" is not able to access the database "bw_dragonage_content" under the current security context.
Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Server AMY-PC\BWDATOOLSET, Line 1
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

Backup file will be found at: c:\Backups\bw_dragonage_content_001.bak

Batch File completed at 10:10:17.12

Any ideas on how I can sort out these security settings?

#16201598 Problems with importing builder 2 builder

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 07 mars 2014 - 07:19 dans General Discussion

Okay then I need to remember what I had to change in order to get the restore to work ...*thinks really hard* ... I have a feeling I had to create a new user account on the BWDATOOLSET to run the backup and I had to grant the Network Service account rights on the C:\Backups folder. If you let me know any errors you encounter hopefully I'll be able to confirm the solution.

Thank you Sunjammer I really appreciate the help/advice I dont want to have to redo all my work. I'll get cracking on this tomorrow (Saturday) and I'll give you a yell when I hit a wall. :)

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 06 mars 2014 - 09:59 dans General Discussion

If you're running either backup.bat or restore.bat, you need to make sure that you're doing so with admin privileges or they will not work. While I'm not running Win8, at least in Win7 you can right click on the batch file and select "Run As Administrator" or words to that effect. Alternatively, fire up a command prompt with admin privileges and run the batch files from there.

Not sure if there are any additional gotchas with Win8 regarding the backup/restore process, but that's how to do it on Win7, so hopefully that should help.

Thanks AmstradHero - I vaguely remember trying to backup my databases on my old system and having trouble with windows 7 and admin privileges even when I was running batch files as administrator...but I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it....  this should be...interesting? :(

#16199321 Problems with importing builder 2 builder

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 06 mars 2014 - 09:56 dans General Discussion

Do you have windows 8? And did the toolset install correctly? I know some people had trouble with it. Did you create a new module for the import? Or are you using the single player? not sure if that makes a difference or not. I know which ever module is open at the time of import is where the data will be referenced. ??????

Yes I am on Windows 8 - for my sins! ;) I've mainly used my own custom resources assigned to my own module so not too dependent upon single player resources.

Sunjammer - luckily I do still have my old machine so I will give your method a try - though I remember I had privilege issues with my old machine in trying to backup my database which was why I relied on backing my work up on B2B...(and now regretting it)... may have to jump through a few hoops to get it working on both machines (oh the joy!) but try I shall.

I will give it a try at the weekend when I have the time to look at it properly  and will let you know if I run into any difficulties - which is likely given my luck so far! :) Thank you both for responding...I'll keep you updated. :)

#16198498 Problems with importing builder 2 builder

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 06 mars 2014 - 07:44 dans General Discussion

Hi all,

I've just bought myself a new computer and I am trying to import a  builder to builder file into a new installation of the toolset. Unfortunately I keep meeting errors whenever I try to import the file - seems to be mostly referencing issues see below:-

Could not find referenced resource bw-db://.\BWDATOOLSET/bw_dragonage_content?resrefid=23197 for 1_mycutscene.cut

So confused - I am already importing the item ref 23197 as part of the import? Does this mean I have to stagger the import process to make sure that all the dependencies are there before I can import what I need? If so this is going to be one heck of a job as I have a lot of dependencies on many of the files. Argh!

I've had a look around at the old forums for answers and came across someone saying something about an issue with renaming files and having to duplicate them - but I am not entirely sure what they mean...?

Argh! Please help me before this new, shiny computer takes a beating!!   :(

How does the Dragon Age Project Preservation Society (DAPPS) sound?

DAPPS sound like the dreadful footwear my mother used to make me wear to PE lessons at school :P

.220px-School_plimsolls.jpg

Exhibit A: Uuuurrggh!

Not that I mind the index being called that I just found the acronym funny. ;)

I like the index, it would be useful to have somewhere to preserve projects in one place and keep tabs on them... though I thought they were dead with this new BSN forum upgrade - I haven't seen any legacy of them lying around anywhere?

#16165925 DA:O Modders and the New BSN Site

Posté par Zola_Weston sur 28 février 2014 - 07:27 dans General Discussion

I'd also like to see a stickied link to that community index/open house website in the Project Announcements & Recruiting forum. (I know it caused some conflict way back when, but it was still a useful resource for players and modders to find content.) And/Or perhaps something of similar organization contained in a single post that can be regularly updated, so players don't have to scroll through 20 pages of project announcements to find what they're looking for. Maybe give new mods top spots on the list, so they can get some more press amongst an ever diminishing population of players.

 I never realised we had a community index....how freaking cool is that...? Excuse me while I have a nosy at it...thanks for sharing! Also good ideas!

I have noticed that as well on my first login. But to my opinion that is not the same like having privacy options available. Good enough if you only want to read or pm. Certainly you can not post etc. logged in as anonymous user. Would have been better if a toggle would be available after the login. One-stop- shop like...

I agree. There should be far more privacy settings for users. The option I mentioned isn't ideal.
