#19815976 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par Asperath sur 18 octobre 2015 - 03:25 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Hmm, somewhere on my Tumblr page is a really good explanation, but I'm not sure I tagged it. I'll try to find it. I had horrible problems at first with DAI modding because most things leave out something you need to know...

Edit: Success! I think CuriousArtemis reblogged it for me when I was having problems

Thanks :) I probably have missed something along the way.

I'll read it more thoroughly tonight when I have more time.

Posté par Asperath sur 18 octobre 2015 - 02:02 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I'm finding modding easier than I have in the past (now that I know how, lol.) I'm even collecting mods I want to use in the future in an "inactive" folder so I can just pop them in as I want to change things up. I didn't expect to mod much, and next to a lot of people I suppose I don't, but I have 10 active at the moment (half of them modding my female dwarves and elves and giving Cullen body hair, lol) plus the utility that lets me give them wild hair colors. I haven't done a lot of appearance modding, though I have half a dozen hair mods in the inactive folder for future PTs, partly because it seems like those are the ones that have had the most trouble with the DLCs and locking up, etc. I'm hoping that now that the final DLC is in place that those are stabilizing because I really want eyebrow mods at least, lol. I swear, they created the vanilla eyebrows and hairstyles with the specific intent to motivate modders...

*snip*

I'm the opposite... normally I finding modding pretty easy but I've tried to install/use modding with DAI and it never seems to work for me that I kinda gave up. It actually made me feel pretty dumb as I've had no issues before lol I don't normally mod a game til I've played it at least once unmodded.

So if anyone knows any good guides with easy step by step I'd appreciate it :)

TLF made me mighty excited about DAI, back when I thought we would have some part of the plot dedicated to griffons. Ah well...

One can hope for next game? I will :)

I'm actually curious to see if the Executors will make an appearance in DA4. I would like at least more information about them, whether it's codex entries or some interaction with them. Considering they kept an eye on the happenings during DAI, will the do the same again or be more active?

I've always wanted to know what was beyond Thedas.

As for Wardens, there is a lot foreshadowing indicating that the sh*t hit the fan in the Warden ranks. The Last Flight, Hawke's/surviving Warden's antics, Blackwall's comment, overall rumours. I can only assume we'll find out soon enough. Have you read The Last Flight novel by any chance? That's the big flag of hope for griffons  ^_^

Also I fully expect Dorian and Mae to return in DA4, the way the wind blows...

Yeah, I have... it's what made me have the childish "YAY" when I saw it.

Also wondering if that has contributed to the problems wardens having, maybe divided in how to utilise the griffons or possibly not... keep it secret, breeding programs (I would think if a given), train, release...?. Wardens at the very least are factured, any of issue(s) are bound to compond on it.

*snip*

Edit: Oh, I thought of another potential Fen'harel spy. The former Dalish/mage apprentice Minaeve...She was thrown out by the Dalish, but humans tried to kill her, so she doesn't have much reason to care for either. She claims she wasn't powerful enough to be a full mage, but apprentices who aren't considered strong enough to be Harrowed are made tranquil.

Never thought of her. First instinct was no because her treatment from her clan but Solas and his goals aren't Dalish. She does have a love of studying/research, and what better way to indulge in one's passion? I could see her using that passion to help Solas locate more artifacts and knowledge... I wouldn't see her as front line, undercover agent.

Posté par Asperath sur 15 octobre 2015 - 08:39 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

For me, last scene in Trespasser gave me the feeling the IQ will be involved in the next game but probably not playable. I saw the last scene as setting up for a new protagonist to be an "agent" of the organisation the IQ has to track, find and stop Solas. I personally would like some involvement because regardless of which IQ I played, my IQ's kinda feel a tad responable for Solas especially had she known she may of been able to stop him while he was still weak. I think if there was a "sacrifice" scene with Solas, the IQ may show up *shrug* I dunno, I didn't really get the resolution that some of you got. In the end I'd be happy if the IQ is a chessmaster and new protagonist is an agent and because of your decision as IQ to redeem or stop Solas, different quests are available/given.

If my Trev has a cameo aswell, I kinda hope Cullen is left at home... that way he can't be hurt :D

As for my Lavellan, I want closure for her but I'd still be happy for the above to happen. I think my Lavellan, though still in love with Solas, took the ending as his final goodbye... as in you won't catch me & if I succeed, one of us or both will be dead. I personally do hope that the IQ gets a cameo at least to help kill/save him.

Also I kept her valleslin because she still felt a connection to the Dalish & still saw it as an integral part of herself but realised after everything that had happened she could no longer go back. She didn't really feel lost afterwards just different. She doesn't really see her role as too different after disband, I've headcannon that still does still search & try to redeem Solas (though she doesn't find him personally) and instead of becoming Keeper of her clan, she's kinda like Keeper of the people who stay with her etc She does stay in contact with her clan & trusts them completely - infact I've headcannon some of them spying for her on Solas' little operation :)

EDIT: Also for me, I don't see Solas as the villian but antagonist - yes. I wouldn't be surprised if the veil is brought down and then the Evanuris become a far greater probelm.

Kinda hurts thinking about it, cause it's so open and I have no patience for it atm, I want DA4 now!

Also I can't remember who (think Riverbanks) mentioned about the Wardens. What I found interesting in my Trev PT with being friends with Blackwall & having sent him to the Wardens after the breach, he mentions in passing that there is infighting in the Wardens and that he fears or wouldn't be surprised if they tear themselves apart from the inside. I should look for the exact quote... makes me wonder if they'll have any involvement in next game. Something else gave me hope about griffions too... I think he sends a letter or something later (my memory is shite atm) but includes a griffon feather. I might of watched someone else's ending on YouTube, might be after he leaves his LI in epilogue.

I'm looking forward to Magekiller too :) I went into my local comic book store & already have a standing order for it (I like to actually hold it lol) and with the next game looking to move to Tevinter wondered if the main characters will appear in the next game. Also, if Maevaris & Dorian possibly making an appearance in the comic. Without know really anything about it, I have speculated that prehaps they become agents for Maevaris/Dorian's resistance and in turn have some involvement in DA4.

I will be disappointed if Dorian and Maevaris don't make an appearance in a game set in/around Tevinter.

Ugh, I'm so tired so if none of this makes sense I sorry. I spent at 30minutes today running around the school looking for a lost kid on a hot sunny day only to find him in the 2nd last classroom I check (after checking EVERYWHERE else) to get "I got confused"... sneaky bugger just wanted to play games on the laptop. It's taken a lot out of me... for various reasons

I think a lot of us are still around, but we don't have much left to speculate about connected to Cullen at least. Especially if we don't want to spoil anything, :P

Here's a question to speculate... (Under spoiler for Samara :))

And sorry if it's been asked but I was MIA for a month and would like to know what others thinks :)

hehehehehe... I'll be careful. Twitter is harder because it just pops up in front of you so I had to mute a lot of peeps (sorry guys!) but usually, when I see mention of certain words, such as lyrium;  my brain goes "nope" and I don't read it. Like it just skips right on past - it's almost a reflex now. lol! But Cullen appreciation is usually fine. I just miss this place and my PC is better now, so I wanted to come back. I can look at the pictures... ;)

I'm glad you've remained unspoiled :) It's so much more enjoyable to find things out by playing the game its self than finding through spoilers

More of an impact, more of the feels :)

Hey lady! FYI spoiler tags don't make any difference with NSFW. Best to link if you're concerned.

Done just incase :) Thanks for reminder :)

Thread is so quiet now :(, while Solas thread is very active.

I guess things are slowing up for Cullen as it "appears" his story is done I suppose.

I admit, I'm bit of as Solas fan after doing Trespasser with my Lavellan first but Cullen <3

EDIT: Btw R2, any word about when the next chapter of Fools Errand is coming out? :D

#19798452 Solas Thread - The Blanketfort

Posté par Asperath sur 12 octobre 2015 - 12:10 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

That's an interesting thing, 'cause I don't know if it is intended that way or if it is just buggy for me: In my multiplayer games the characters say the same 3 things over and over and over again. And it isn't really banter, it's more like "When all this is done I suspect I have to go back to the Deep Roads." - "I never understood your dwarven culture." (No exact quotes, but it's along those lines.) And I can't seem to turn it off? After hearing this for the tenth time I get (or become?) a bit ragey.. -_-

I think that's the only kinda banter and I don't think you can turn it off unfortunately.

I never heard anything from Cillian remotely related to Solas/elven culture per say.

Is he working for Solas? I know a lot of the elves take off at the end of Trespasser but only one I've seen confirmed is the female guard in Trespasser.

Although it kinda would make sense esp considering the armour he wears (ancient elven like Abelas)

The newer characters do require a ton of materials to craft. You may get lucky though and unlock them via a chest. That's how I got the Avaar and Zither.

I got all of the original characters through chests and saved up for Isabella.

I don't mind the archer at all, I find with a little better gear and levels he can be quite good but it's also fun to play around with different ones.

Just let me know via PM if you wanna :)

Unless a lot has changed, I had a few characters that could solo the lower level if you want some practice before grouping with others etc (yes I was obsessed with it once lol)

And hello neighbour ;).

Nah, only if you want to. Some people will chat, most groups I experienced don't (you can also mute people, yay!).

I've only every chatted to other friends from the Cullen thread when I first tried it... I think we laughed and died more than anything.

Posté par Asperath sur 12 octobre 2015 - 11:20 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Missed the whole conversation about gaming history (damn time difference!) but long sotry short started with Atari when I was about 6yrs old and 30yrs late still going. I got massively into MMO's with EQ & EQ2 then WoW where I met my partner. I remember my family really didn't like and my friends would get upset I would rather play then go out every weekend and drink but now? Half of them are worse than me! They also thought it was weird I met my partner through a MMO but after 9 years I think I did alright, it's pretty common now too.

About online gaming.. I've been wanting to explore the multiplayer on Inquisition but I'm way to scared to get put into a group with randoms (even though I used to raid on WoW), I'm but a lowly level 4 archer in multiplayer Inquisition.

I'm yet to download the other pack too, since we went over our internet cap this month <_<.

If you're ever interested let me know. I got really heavily into before and enjoy it as a bit of fun. Most people are really good too and I think your from NZ so fits with my Aussie timezone.

ESO is most fun for its questing and community imo. It's pretty similar, but obviously not nearly as fun (the elder scrolls series is god)

If you ever wanna play there's a good number of us on there (and me obviously lol) It's pretty good. I recommend it  :D

Has it changed much? I played it when it first came out and although I loved it, it was still bit buggy so took a break and got distracted.

I present a fun question:

Which personality alignment does your Lavellan fall under?

An example chart:

Spoiler

Mine went from '(Dalish) lawful neutral' to 'true neutral' in about the space it takes to say "slave markings".

My Lavellan is typical Neutral Good, however, her temper can get the best of her at times and can trigger chaotic outbursts. Her temper has been tested a lot throughout DAI.

Huh.  Just got issued my first forum warning point.  It's like losing your BSN virginity :P

The dialogue is a bit unclear, but it can be interpreted one of two ways.  If you headcanon that they slept together, then Solas means that he didn't sleep with you as the Dread Wolf to trick you; he slept with you because he loved you, as Solas, and he was truthful about his feelings.  If you headcanon that they didn't sleep together, then the line is his rationale explaining why.

Thanks for that :) I had one of those "wha?! did I not hear/see that before?" moments.

It was posted by one of Bioware's artists on tumblr. I guess you'd have to persuade Bioware to start selling it.
http://nthornborrow....w-tarot-cards-i

Thanks :)

I know this post is 6 pages old but I wanted to chip in.

Two years ago my boyfriend and I adopted two kittens from a shelter (two brothers), we named them Chai & Chili.

When adopting from this shelter they had us sign a form that makes us oblige to have the adopted animals neutered when they're old enough.

We put a ton of love when we cared for them, two months in when they were 3 months the shelter's asked us to come to have them castrated, we were supposed to put them in the morning and take them home in the afternoon.

On that day, my boyfriend came along with a friend (to help him carry two cages), needless to say - he returned home with only one.

I remember the phone call, he called me to tell me Chili died (he was just laying in the cage, nobody even noticed he stopped breathing), at first I thought he was joking, how could a cat die from castration? The postmortem operation made it clear that there was a problem with his heart and it just stopped, it was unclear whether he was sensitive to the anesthetic (that's what they say at the shelter) or over-dosed (he was treated by a junior). I was MAD and utterly devastated.

Would I have done anything different if I had known it would end this way? Yes, I would've taken him to my veterinarian, or outright refuse to have him neutered. If it was a heart flaw or sensitivity then it probably would've killed him later in life, either way, I never regretted adopting him, even if my heart broke.

I loved him, he was happy. He had a good life, even if was really short.

After his death we adopted a new cat, so Chai wouldn't be alone (it was a hard thing to do, because we didn't want to just replace him, he was our child), her name is Cheetah. She is originally from the street, a week into her adoption we had to take her to the vet, she couldn't control her bladder. After the second appointment the vet noticed her heavy breathing and offered a scan, after the scan she was diagnosed with hiatus hernia, apparently she was involved in a car accident when she was on the streets. We were offered to take a chance and make her go under the knife and to repair her hernia. I was scared I'll lose another cat, when I agreed to pay 500$+ on a surgery for a kitten I owned for a week+ people were shocked, the vet himself was shocked because he said her chances were low. She survived, because I didn't give up on her, two years later and she lives happily with Chai in our household. The death of Chili still stings, even after two years, but it gave us the opportunity to save another cat, people kept saying how lucky she is that she got to us because other people would've given up on her.

The idea of not adopting an animal just because they were sick, it really bothered me, so I felt compelled to write this long-ish post.

It doesn't matter if they are dying, adopting them gives them a shot at saving them, and if not that, at least live happily with the time left to them.

*hugs* I'm glad your kitty had you both to look out for her :)

This actually made me cry a little. I had a cat years back who an adverse reaction to anesthetic & had a stroke, it was hard but I made the decision which was best for him.

I did. He asks what is the old Dalish saying. She replies, so he did.

Bah, can't find the video. I picked it. the wheel option is Yes, ironically. She says And so he did.

He replies he wouldn't lay with her under false pretenses (I am assuming it related to being Solas first, Fen'Harel only as a nickname).

Edit:

Here!

https://youtu.be/QbL107_DgJE?t=252

Wait... I've confused myself (not hard these days). It's implied in that response that she did lay with Solas and he was being truthful about his intentions (no false pretenses) and that it wasn't "the Dread Wolf" per say... ugh, I think I need a break!

Good, so it's not just me grabbing at every crumb I can :D

I was mostly joking, though. I actually don't mind that there isn't an actual sex scene. I was fine with them not having taken it that far yet ... until I got that  line, at least :D

Isn't there a response that you can make when he says about Dalish legend(not exact quoting)... "Maybe the Dread Wolf take you" and Lavellan says "So he did" and response is about he wouldn't lay with her under false pre tenses?

I felt this was in there for those who wished to believe they had had sex and those who believed they didn't could avoid such an option.

My Lavellan's opinion on the matter.

(She's not blond, she's ginger, but no matter.)

But there's much better things to focus on: I'm off to read and write detailed comments on as many fics as I can before the weekend ends. *holds highlighter and smiles fiendishly*

Just out of lurking to say for a minute, I love this! Will come in handy irl!

I love reading all your theories and ideas about Solas & his relationship with Lavellan. Especially since everyone has their own opinion/understand and take on things and given me a few "oh yeah, never thought/saw it like that before". It's help me understand my own feelings reactions to what happened not just with his character but how my Lavellan would react/cope/understand what's gone on. So thanks :) I think I've stop obsessing over the last scene together.

My cannon PT was always going to be TrevxCullen (generally play as humans) but thinking that I might just have to duel cannons because I grown very attached to my Lavellen but still love my Trev :)

As an aside does anyone else think that the Inquisitor's/ Cullen's...copulation...would be really...quiet? At first?  I mean he just seems so young and inexperienced when it comes to this sort of...thing...that I just imagine that...at first he would be really gentle and boring and depdning on the Inquisitor she'd be in the same position all young and inexperienced or like...come on guy...really?  I believe they'd get there eventually but the point is I doubt any Inquisitor's would have to be awkward after the first encounter. :P

I don't necessarily view it that way.

To me, he's probably early 30s and just because I can't ask him about his previous sexual history doesn't mean he doesn't have one. I imagine he joined the templars and would of gone through puberty there, raging hormones something was bound to happen. But I also don't see him as someone moving from sexual partner to sexual partner. But yeah, first encounters can be quite awkward lol

I like the fact it's not in game because people can view it/headcannon it to how they view Cullen and their character.
So anyone's thoughts or views can be what we want for our games :)

#19779544 The Official Cullen Discussion Thread v.3.0

Posté par Asperath sur 06 octobre 2015 - 01:42 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Agree, there is so much foreshadowing of the change that I truly expect it sooner rather than later. Some folks theorize that Solas might not be the only party interested in dropping the veil and, consequently, he might not be the one who does that at the end. I must say that I am looking forward to where the next chapter will take us.
As for Solas himself, I don't think he has the same attitude towards Quizzies with negative approval. With them, he doesn't even deny he sees modern Theodosians as non-people, hence in that case scenario he's rather looking forward to completing his goal. There is quite a bit of variety when it comes to dialogue options depending on whether romanced/friended/enemied/explored his dialogue trees in base game or not etc.

I would like my Quizzies to confront Solas in more personal manner, ideally with my input... still I am torn on the protagonist. I love all my Quizziez and they are quite involved in what is going on atm. BUT There is a part of me that wants to experience another story through the eyes of a new protagonist. Also, for what we know now and expect from DA4, lots of other issues may resurface, other beings might come into play and we might (and likely will) find out that Solas was only the tip of the iceberg. When I start to think about dual protagonist/involved cameo variants I get a headache. I have no idea what I want

Edit: We have stopped spoiling a while back hence unspoiling it :D

I haven't been on for awhile! lol and didn't have the time nor patience to go back haha

Yeah, I heard that he's quite different with low approval IQs and that. I just hope that he's part is not glossed over and I would like at least my IQs involved in whatever outcome there is for him, esp since at the end they go looking for him regardless. I don't particularily see him as a "villian" like Cory... so I don't think he'll be the nex t big bad per say

I even think you could end up joining forces again against prehaps the Evanuris... it's funny, as much as I liked Solas contrasting romance arch compared to Cullen's, I still want that fluffy ending for Solas & Lavellan haha But I truly think that will only end with one of their deaths now.

Ugh, gotta be up in 5hrs... *sigh*

I'm amazed that you managed to avoid spoilers long enough for that, but I'm glad you did! I admit, my favorite thing in Trespasser is the mabari (even if I'm still honked off that my dwarven IQs can't even get one second hand...) There are lots of interesting theories percolating around out there if you want to look for them, lol. My hope is that the IQ will be back in some form in DA4 since Trespasser's ending provides them with the perfect opportunity to have a character with a physical limit who's still bad**s for reasons that are completely story driven and not manufactured.

I finally started JoH a couple (3?) weeks ago, but my game time is severely restricted at the moment, lol. That's OK, I'm enjoying the Frostback Basin a lot so I'm glad to take my time.

Edit: Hairy Cullen for top

I actually didn't come into the thread at all during that time, it was hard but I did it. I just came on to respond to PMs.

I think I may of missed some vital lore due to wanting to complete Trespasser but I'll take more time with my Trev.

I love the fact too this is actually like an epilogue as much as it upset me to be over.

I'm not sure about spoilers, so I'll just tag it

I enjoyed JoH, particularily the Avvar... wish they had a big more lore/interaction with the hold etc
