Not sure this was a mod, I think is just someone very good with photoshop. We can't mod shapes in moving characters yet :P

in my first game i had a schematic to make new formal wear (that i only found out i had after the ball... maybe i got it after the ball?). i remember it quite clearly because i was surprised that it made decent armor.

apparently it's a quest activated via the war table (says the DA wiki). never had it pop up, though.

And thank you for posting the proper elven. The more I see it, the more I will likely get it right next time. :)

(though, I am probably due to reread the OP. Solas - the forumite, not the elf ;) - most likely has all those elven lines posted. )

google was my friend :D  you have no idea how many times i had to google "vhenan" for a fic i wrote.

As someone who romanced Solas with an elven inquisitor who I headcanoned to be non-binary (agender to be specific), I feel the conversation in this thread is taking a turn toward exclusivity. One of the gems of this thread is that it feels so inclusive. I know there are others who have trans male and genderqueer Lavellan headcanons and who played through the Solas romance, and I hoped the Solas fandom would be welcoming of these players too. I... would like to respectfully ask that we stop talking about Solas being romanceable to female elves only.

Isn't it nice how Solas says 'Dareth Shiral' to a friendly quizzy? 'Safe Journey.' Considering the state Thedas is in, hearing that is...comforting.

ah, does he? i suppose my non-Solas romancing Inquisitors have been to contrary.

i believe if he ends with "Dareth shiral" you're fine. he hasn't changed from "Good bye" to any of my other elfquisitors.

he started with "My heart" and then moved on to "Vhenan", and then back to "My heart". what does he say when you leave?

Yeah, I get you.  There's the thing with Briala, but my Lavellan couldn't stand by and just let Celene be assassinated.  That was one of the roughest decisions in the game for me.  One of those times where my Lavellan had to choose between what she wanted and what she thought was right.

The Lavellan clan's questline was nice, since it placed a Dalish clan in the position of helping out city elves.  Sometimes it's the small things.  I also like to think Quizzy can help by trying to spread what she's learned to the clans.  Some will always reject it, but others won't.  Hawen's clan reaching out to Red Crossing after they learned the truth about what happened was what I had hoped for.  I don't know if humans will ever entirely accept elves, but getting either side to try to reconcile is a start.  And I think that improving relations between humans and Dalish are also a step towards the Dalish and City Elves understanding each other.

One of the things I liked about keeping the vallaslin is how Corypheus mocks them during his battle.  Given what he did to so many slaves, there's some satisfaction knowing he got taken down by someone wearing slave markings.

*cough* i... made a lot of people really angry when i put Briala in charge >_> (not in this game. i did that in my Cullenmance game) it's worth doing at least once if you're so inclined!

ugh. i've figured out the ways to not get them slaughtered after 4 games. :P i hate that it happens and no one says anything.

i think you're right. getting better relations between peoples is what my Inquisitor wants. i just wish there were a way for them to make that happen. The elves are their first focus, then everyone else, even if they try to keep the larger picture in mind at the same time. there has to be some catering to the humans because they do control the power (and put the Inquisitor in power, no matter how much they protest), but begin able to at least TRY to help their people is a big draw.

Corypheus getting taken down by someone with slave markings... there was that too. :3 my Inquistor was very happy about that, haha.

uh, so off topic. uuuuh.... Solas is awesome! (does that work? ha!)

I think that depends on your actions.  Quizzy helps everyone, or at least that's how I played it.  That doesn't mean she has to turn her back on where she comes from.  And there's that option when being made Inquisitor where elves can say they're a representative for elves (not specifically Dalish) for the good of everyone.

that's true. but there's still that divide between City and Dalish which is really apparent if you talk to the herbalist? in the garden at Skyhold? (it's been a while), and just all the.. anti-Dalish sentiment. like.. i wish there was a way you could, not erase, but make better the relationship between the two. like work on getting everyone to see that if they stood together and let the little arguments go, i think the majority of people wouldn't mind working together. Naturally there would always be some outliers (there always are).

my Inquisitor kept the vallaslin because they were an integral part of who they were as a person. the knowledge of what they originally meant means that they stood taller for it. It was a reclaim thing for them, i guess you could say. like "I know what this meant then, but by wearing them now, it doesn't make me a slave." keeping them was a hard choice, but one they were proud of. even Corypheus tossing insults at them mid battle couldn't faze (not phase, they weren't a rogue) them because it was a choice. yeah, the whole "you're free" thing, but to them, having the marks meant they were free to choose what they wanted. *shrugs* it was an interesting choice, i'll give the devs that.

Ha, PW's tweet is funny. Not only is the timing of it all atrocious and cruel, but as I realized when I thought about what my Inquisitor would do after the game, if she accepts his offer then there's no way she can go back to the Dalish. She's given up her vallaslin around the same time as the shemlen world was declaring her the Herald of Andraste. Not suspicious at all, no.

the whole thing has me a bit at odds with myself. i wish there were a way an elf Inquisitor could become a champion for ALL elves... like, yeah, raised Dalish, but now completely encompassed by the larger world, can we become a voice to help elves get along among themselves? Dalish and City together...THEN we could really be a force to be reckoned with! (for the record, my Lavellan didn't remove theirs. they were perfectly happy keeping them, no matter what the tats used to mean)

it could just be fear keeping him from saying anything. like, the thing where his omission of who he is has gone on so long that he's more afraid of telling them than of not. the Inquisition has become such a big thing and he's gotten in so deep that who he is is now the elephant in the room, and he can't quite find a way to talk about it. (whether romanced or not)

PS4

not sure what time it was.. but 50+ hours

biggest one (besides the conversations not moving forward that are annoying)

Spoilers:

from the Keep, successfully imported female Warden who romanced Leliana. everyone references said female Warden in all conversation, get Leliana talking about female Warden. talk to Morrigan in the garden and she goes on about how the male Warden was the love of her life. go back to Leliana, talks about going to find my female Warden.

i was very confused.

Astel, did it have you sitting around sobbing over your wolf jawbone necklace?

ahahaha not quite. i was yelling at my TV, though. mostly the same phrase over and over, the sentiment of which i've seen here repeatedly. XD

*deep breath*

well, i'm back. that was.. a trip.

i did that one scene (you know the one) five or so times before i decided on an outcome. still not sure it was the right one. Solas was a better character than i could have dreamed (though PW's charas are some of my favorites so i really shouldn't be surprised).

oof. incoherent post. i'm still processing (and it's 4am, so i should be asleep)

Talking just physical attributes, I'd never say no to a KISA LI who looks like Tilda Swinton. Any gender LI. She pulls off all gender expression stunningly. I'm a little smitten.

*snip*

you totally beat me to it, but i second this so hard.

i'm all for androgynous. someone you look at and won't necessarily know if they're male or female (though in my perfect world they would be neither..   :)

and a good friend of my Celebrian,

*whispers* i'm so glad i'm not the only one who uses Tolkien's names for my characters

i'm looking forward to meeting all the characters. some of them have grabbed me more than others (obviously Solas has grabbed my interest), and i'm really looking forward to seeing how they all interact with each other and with my Inquisitors.

#17541055 What are you going to call your inquisitor?

Posté par Astelspirals sur 19 octobre 2014 - 10:05 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

i used to come up with names, but i'm not very good at it. so i just started going through all of Tolkien's works and picking the names i really liked from there (based on the personality i was hoping to foster in my character and the personality of Tolkien's character)... i'm never going to play enough times to run out of names that way :)  i'm still working out names for my qunari, though. i need to get on that.

nope. nope, no. if the convo about children comes up, i hope there's an option of the definite NO variety. i'm playing as a straight female elf for you buddy. i don't play female elves (well.. there was that one time, but she was a dastardly blood mage, and i did it so i could do everything you're not supposed to do, and it was amazing), and playing a straight female is hard enough for me, so please don't make me have children too. i might never ever take him anywhere again, and being given no choice would be the fastest way for me to break up with him.

although, i do have to say, when it comes to it, Bioware is pretty good about giving us options when something big like that comes up. so i'm not terribly worried.

*sighs*

Everybody's got different views on this, nothing wrong with that. And I'm not calling Solas racist...what he said sounded a bit racist to me but a part of me thinks it was just a snarky joke too. The game isn't out yet so I wont' be calling him one until proven otherwise.

i wasn't try to put you on spot. you just had the easiest-to-reply-to comment for me to give my two cents to. :)

#17523045 Solas Thread - The Blanketfort

I'm not going to brand him a racist or judge any of the companions until I play the game. That banter did sound a bit racist yes but I'm not going to automatically call him one, I'm going to wait till I play the game. If he is racist then oh well, I won't like it but oh well. I pretty much doubt he is but we will have to wait and see.

i personally didn't think it was racist so much as, well... ribbing on a group that had more power and influence than others. *shrugs* to me, it felt like it was in a way i feel sometimes, where i joke about things that i'm tired of seeing so much of, that i know i can't change.

The poem is one thing I really loved about the Deep Roads. Just listening to it as we carefully inched our way through the corridors, feeling the growing horror of what was being said. It was an awesome moment.

It would be interesting to see the dreams or nightmares of our companions if we end up in the Fade again, but I'm going to guess we wouldn't see one for Solas because of how he interacts with the Fade. Which would be too bad, but maybe he would be more like a tour guide and it will work out better that way. :P

so, everyone stopped every time Hespith said something their first run, right? i certainly did going "Whaaaaaaaaaaatt... the heck?!" :D

i did love that part of the Fade in Origins! and especially seeing who was affected most, who realized it was a dream, and who just.. didn't have anything. i bet you're right about Solas not having one (that we see, anyway). if he's essentially made the Fade his second home, he's gonna know how to get around in it without too much trouble. (like the Fire Swamp in Princess Bride!) i do hope we get to see others' relations to the Fade at some point though. and learn whatever Solas has to teach us.

I never take the dwarf companions into the Fade with me (except for Oghren in Awakening since I always recruit Justice first).  I just feel really bad doing that to them.  In addition to Solas, I'd like to take Cole and Dorian.  I think they'd have really interesting conversations on the Fade.

since i never recruit Oghren in Awakening, i have to get Sigrun first, so i always have her when i go get Justice.

i wonder if it will be.. not dangerous... but easier? if we take Solas vs another mage into the Fade. i doubt it will change depending on which one we take, but i wonder at the commentary we'll get if we don't take certain characters. will Cole remember things? will Dorian and Viv have other things to say about the Fade?
