#20428059 Solas Thread - The Blanketfort

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur aujourd’hui, 04:57 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Hey Colonel, glad to see you're still around!  And you can always post in our new home.  :D

Colonel! *hugs*

It's so nice to see you again! And to echo what Elessara said, you're always free to visit or post over at our new home. :)

And with that, I guess I should go and unpack over at Blanketfort II now. I'm still gonna miss this place but hey, that's life. :')

Just got the link from someone and saw the posts here on it, we live on! :D

Great seeing you guys around still, love this place. This thread really changed my attitude on the forums, all the negativity from the rest of the forums just gets sucked out when you spend time here. It's like... What happened to Dabura in Dragon Ball Z, lol.

Well, it was a good run, and you all proved my assessment wrong of your relentless love for Solas :D never thought this thread could stay active for so long. Will miss you guys, if any of the original posters still lurk around here. :( Did notice Capricorn and night symphony.

Haven't been around lately but I heard the news. I'll miss you fellow assholes/weirdos/just fans of Cassandra and extremely off topic and inappropriate conversations, lol.

#20345165 What would you like to see in Dragon Age 4

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 22 juin 2016 - 09:30 dans General Discussion (Spoilers)

I know what I'd like to see, less fetch quests and more actual non mmo style quests like in Witcher 3, and less Mmo feeling gameplay in general.

I just remembered this group today and I came here and discovered that the group discussion boards are great and oh my goodness, I am going to make you such a list.

Where's my list?!? :P

What you consider is unfortunately, false.

I'm not talking about scientifically speaking, as in strictly physical. I'm talking about what I personally consider a man to be in his prime, as far as looks and maturity are concerned. To me, men in their late 30's and early 40's are far more handsome than men younger than that. It's why I look forward to those years for myself ;)

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 26 avril 2016 - 03:25 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Pretty much exactly what I was wondering.... Lol. :P

But I'll be hitting 30 next year. Oh god. *runs away and cries*

Well if it makes you feel better, someone also has to want to **** you for you to be a milf :P XD Meaning you have to be hot.

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 26 avril 2016 - 03:02 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Yea, usually people think of women at least in their thirties with kids as milfs, but technically no it's just any mom. Why, you wondering if you're a milf? XD :P

#20222095 Cassandra Pentaghast - Thread 2.0 - Please tag your Trespasser spoilers!

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 26 avril 2016 - 01:49 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Lol but seriously though, I think that Cassandra is mainly appealing to an Inquisitor who is in his mid 30s or so, not a young Inquisitor due to practicalities.

Let's be honest, when the age gap is 13 years or 15 years or 18 years (if your Inquisitor is 20 years old), its like having a romantic relationship with an auntie-figure or even a mommy-figure.

If your Inquisitor is into the whole cougar thing then I suppose it can work but personally, I prefer to women around the age group I am in, +/- 5 years at most (I'm 25). Anything more (or less) and it feels weird.

Speak for yourself, bruh. The older the berry, the sweeter the juice XD. Cougars, milfs, I dig em. Not that I saw Cassandra as a cougar, and to be a milf, she's gotta be a mom, so.

I do tend to play inquisitors or characters in general by their mid thirties, late thirties, or early forties, but just because that's the age I consider a man in his prime. Not that my characters need to be in their prime, that's just how it turns out.

Emo over dramatization. Fanboys and girls eat that **** up on tumblr.

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 16 avril 2016 - 05:25 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

It might be pointless when it comes to cornflakes though because he doesn't need your taint to have spread far to make you hear the calling evidently.

#20205418 The Fiona Question

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 16 avril 2016 - 05:23 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Also, people should read that letter again:

http://dragonage.wik...ero_of_Ferelden

You're trying to keep them from going insane to the point that you need to kill yourselves fighting dark spawn. That is tied to the mutation and becoming a ghoul, as the more the taint spreads, the stronger the song becomes to you.

So, you're trying to stop the spread of the taint in you or at least significantly slow it. Not flat out cure the taint.

#20205360 The Fiona Question

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 16 avril 2016 - 04:37 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Why would they be interested in someone being cured of the Blight? This is literally anathema to their existence. If there is anything we learn about the Grey Wardens, is that they have a striking dedication to ignorance. If there is any part of that order that even tries to comprehend the Blight, it's a group that we have never heard of locked away in Weistahupt. Otherwise, it is a striking and dedicated ignorance of all things related to the Blight (they didn't even know about Broodmothers for sure until DA:O!), and an order that actively lies to their various levels of seniority (like a cult).

Given this striking and rampant ignorance, and given their single-minded obsession with their currently constituted mission, it makes total sense they would want to spend no time studying why the Blight could be cured, and instead send away the person cured (if not actually kill them) to maintain their ironclad hold on their basic lies.

They knew about it, read The Last Flight. It seems that modern Grey Wardens simply lost a lot of their knowledge. Broodmothers aren't that numerous either until a blight happens.

Anyway, it makes sense that they don't look into cures for the taint to me. Their order is about sacrifice. If people knew there was a cure, it'd be harder to get men dedicated to serve and stay serving for life, and especially to sacrifice themselves to kill an arch demon.

Yeah I agree, it doesn't bother me either, though i'd rather they just make a new character than change an existing one. It's the double standard that bothers me, as it usually is in situations like this. I'd actually like Elba as bond.

Agreed with you there as well, there's definitely a double standard.

wait. how was your example about Jack Churchill someone going lalala?

you lost me. when video game protags kill swarms of baddies the only reason given is usually because they're just that tough.

I meant you, lol, bad wording.

Anyway, yes but I meant in a book or movie. Movies with your example aren't taken very seriously and it's taken as a silly over the top action movie. Authors especially are criticized hard for these sort of things, like the overused Mary Sue shtick.

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 16 avril 2016 - 05:22 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Not saying SnakeCode isn't right about James Bond being white in the book. Just saying, I have an obvious bias and I admit it. So why should I care that they made James Bond a race he probably shouldn't be portrayed as when this goes on all the time. The only real cases that I gotta put my foot down are when they do stuff like make Thor a chick for the lulz. Despite their reasoning of the title in the comics going to whoever is worthy to hold the hammer, and the fact that comics do this sort of switcher up thing all the time, Thor is based off of a Norse god, and the Norse nerd in me just can't. Same with Heimdallr being black in the movie (same actor I think too).

But just switching up a character's race in a book, while annoying, black or white honestly I don't care. I only really care when it comes to culture stuff, like portrayals of Egyptians, Norsemen and Norse Gods, Jesus, Biblical stories in general.

Other than that, in theater, people play characters when the actors and actresses don't match up all the time. Another reason I say meh to the James Bond thing, other than what I've already stated.

Give me few examples everywhere.

That terrible avatar the last airbender movie and the recent moses movie come to mind immediately.

And depictions of Jesus Christ.

As far as I'm concerned, moviemakers have no qualms about casting white actors everywhere in movies where they shouldn't, so I for one am fine with a black james bond. Especially because if they were ever going to, this guy is perfect for it. As long as he's british, I don't care.

Depending, some people taking hormone, especially young people to prevent onset of puberty, like for transgender teen males, so that their body doesn't grow too tall, their body doesn't become enlarge. Hormone treatments are very important, so that their body stays with the gender they identify with.

I'm generally okay with a bit off-topic as this thread to seem to have derailed. I had a problem with if the thread derailment if it becomes too heated and way of the scope of this thread, since the last discussion was basically about races and it gets really aggressive. Anyway, I hope people keep it on topic and at least discuss stuffs that related to sexuality and stereotypes and tropes and variation of representation.

I don't plan on making this a big thing (though I know it usually turns into one).

I understand the reasoning behind it, even if I don't agree with it. The recklessness of it I mean, when the long term effects on the mind and body aren't fully understood, and could be doing more harm later down the line than good. I get some people think it's worth it, and that's their business. I just threw my two cents in because what the original poster to that subject was saying seemed reasonable to me and didn't warrant the hostility.

I'm fine with going back on topic, this subject will probably not go anywhere good anyway.

#20204528 Sexuality- Broaden the archetypes and stereotypes

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 16 avril 2016 - 04:08 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Not really. I have to take three different medications every morning in order to (sort of) function like a normal human being, because my brain has no flipping clue what it's doing when left to its own devices. Sometimes we need to alter our skins (and other stuff, like the goo between our ears) so we can be comfortable.

I'm more talking those that use medication and surgery to drastically change themselves, not just for what you're talking about. People can do what they want, but it seems worrying to me that people don't think it worth questioning long term effects of these sort of things, especially when such a high rate of people come back saying they've regretted it.

#20204520 Sexuality- Broaden the archetypes and stereotypes

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 16 avril 2016 - 04:00 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

I guess we should just go back to killing ourselves, it's much better than living a life where we feel comfortable in our own skin. I've never been the least bit concerned about the hormones and the only psychological damage ever done is by stupid **** like this. Yeah, it's crap like this that is unhealthy for transgendered people. I may not have been born the right gender and I may have the wrong chromosomes but every legal document I have says I'm a woman and that's good enough for me.

Not to be that guy, but taking hormones and the like is pretty much the opposite of being comfortable in your own skin. It's fine if you don't agree with what they said, but I don't think what they said warranted all this. All that they're trying to say is we should be cautious when making drastic changes to people's body when we don't understand fully what the consequences are. There's a lot of stories out there of people regretting the whole thing, and it's very unfortunate, and hard to read.

Geralt's not my type in the slightest lol, I just did that (and threatening to nuke the thread) hoping the mods would close it. I don't need you to feel guilty about anything, just pointed out you among others talked about off-topic stuff for an exaggerated period of time (I counted like, 3 full days). But I don't really miss that thread, it was almost the new Off-Topic section lol.

Welcome to BSN, where people carry out a discussion by following where it goes naturally and don't stay on the exact topic after dozens of pages.

Let it go, guy, this isn't your thread.

Posté par Colonelkillabee sur 15 avril 2016 - 09:50 dans Story, Campaign, and Characters

Again, that all makes me sad :( Although depending on what one means by "butch", I would be more interested in a woman who isn't. If we're talking about looks alone, I prefer something else in general, but it's not a huge deal to me. If we're talking personality, I'd have to know what someone meant by "butch" in the first place. Because there are a lot of characteristics people would call "butch" that I probably wouldn't, since I avoid terms like that as much as I can.

Well, now I'm mildly jealous :P

No idea, but I'd imagine it would be a fairly pointless addition considering the medical technology in Star Wars would render it a moot point.

Especially if you take the fan-theory about all the 007s over the years being different agents adopting the name James Bond into account. Although the most recent film makes that weird.

Hmm, I think all the romances should have a "take it slow" option.

What? How does that make him gay? I mean, it doesn't make him not gay either, but...

My point is, I'd say "That looks good on/suits you" to a platonic friend. I didn't think that was weird

It's the lip biting, dude ;)

I'm not thick-skinned, I admit it. But I just can't stand extremists, specially when said person purposedly derailed my thread, which I had to nuke (to be fair it was derailed by other people every few pages (you also had a hand in that), so it was the best option anyway).

* I myself have been blocked for much lesser stuff, and I couldn't care less, really.

I've been blocked too, I don't block unrelated people because of it.

I'm glad you can admit that you're thin skinned, now you should admit that the person in question isn't an extremist, lol, and admit you're not that knowledgeable on what that even means.

As far as you "having to nuke a thread" I don't really care, these threads don't have post limits like other sites do, they're going to get derailed, and you should just come to accept that. No, I didn't stick to the same tired topic page after page, choosing to engage in conversation with the other forum goers in a public forum like one is supposed to instead. And no, I don't feel guilty about that in the slightest. I'd also like to note that spamming pictures of Geralt's bare chest and lusting over it isn't how you get a conversation on topic.

Neither is whining about it and threatening to nuke it, either.
