#20416521 Concerning Our Forums

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 30 juillet 2016 - 06:54 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

Why? i've never seen her before around here but a lot of you seem to suggest she's unstable can you explain please?

Partly no doubt because s/he/it has made it a habit of leaving the forum everyone once in a while (complete with melodramatic "I'm leaving" thread), only to come back a week or so later with an alt account.

As for the person, mentally unstable is a fit description. This person is certifiably out of whack. Also a bonafide attention seeker. Oxford dictionary could just put her picture next to the entry for that term.

#20411134 SAVE THE BIOWARE FORUMS

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 29 juillet 2016 - 07:21 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

You're not telling anyone who wants to fight to save BSN anything new. So what is it you are trying to accomplish in a thread that is trying to rally people to try? Do you think you are helping someone? Saving someone from untold anguish that's worse than not doing anything at all?

It may not work, but it certainly won't work if no one tries. Corollary, us giving up simply because you say it is futile would be a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's not like it is costing us or you a lot to try, so why do you care if we do?

I invite you to examine your intentions.

Your point only works under the assumption that the decision BioWare is not final.

It is final. It is announced and a deadline has been set. BioWare is well past the point-of-no-return in the decision-making process.

And intentions fail to be relevant if they conflict with reality. Which is what I've said. If you don't like to accept that simple fact, you're welcome to try and change their minds, I'm just telling you how it is, based on conclusive, firsthand experience that's contrasting with wishful thinking.

Any energy spent trying to fight the decision is better spent getting familiar with Reddit or whatnot if you intend to continue being a part of the BioWare fandom (=/= community), because they won't budge.

#20410880 SAVE THE BIOWARE FORUMS

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 29 juillet 2016 - 06:50 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

I'm still going to do my best to let them know I want these forums open. If you care at all about them, then you should do the same, instead of just coming in here and bemoaning how pointless it is. Please see point 1 in the OP. Thank you.

Except I have ample empiric evidence collected throughout my personal experience with BioWare's recent community interactions that all point out the futitlity of this endeavour.

I still cared enough to fight against the forced eviction of the Offtopic subsection and it didn't mean anything to BioWare. I'm not going to bash my head against a brickwall when I already know the brickwall is in fact steel-reinforced composite concrete graded to survive near misses from nuclear detonations.

And we're not on Reddit yet, so you can't downvote my comment into the abyss because it's not conforming with your sentimental preferences of what kind of response you want to see. Same as BioWare won't suddenly go "Wait guys, Elizabeth wants the forum to stay: take everything back now, we're reverting our decision!!!" just because you want them to.

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 29 juillet 2016 - 06:22 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

That worked out so well for Offtopic, what makes you think they'd reverse a decision they actually save a good chunk of money from (domain, server bandwidth, moderators and webpage team)?

#20410608 Concerning Our Forums

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 29 juillet 2016 - 06:19 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

For technical support, that is still officially provided by Answers HQ. These forums have not had official tech support for some time.

You can also tweet to the official Dragon Age or Mass Effect accounts with a description of your issue and someone will provide you support, either by reaching out directly or by pointing you to the answer or solution.

The old posts will unfortunately no longer be available after October 25, 2016.

You mean the Answers HQ that is a strictly user-to-user troubleshooting forum?

Or are you seriously prepared to recieve a comprehensive rundown of a technical issue complete with dxdiag split up into several dozens of tweets because Twitter character limit?

Anyone remembering the ole' BioWare Bazaar thing?

Cuz Pepper Ridge Farm remembers:

"I used to be part of the community, now there ain't one."

#20410278 Concerning Our Forums

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 29 juillet 2016 - 05:42 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

So, that makes the moderators and the entire webpage team. Plus no longer having to pay for the domain and bandwidth/server.

How much money must a community be worth to offset the cost of having to actually cultivate one (cultivate being loosely used in light of recent BioWare commitment in fostering a positive and communicative interaction climate)?

#20294143 Bring Back Off Topic

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 05 juin 2016 - 10:19 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

BioWare doesn't want an active community. Because community means interaction ... the only interaction BioWare wants is a following of docile sheep that "Ahhhh" and "Ohhhh" at every nondescript, vague tweet, singing their praises on tumblr and buy their games.

#20294130 Sniper Rifles in andromeda

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 05 juin 2016 - 10:10 dans General Discussion

Snipers sucks in ME1.

Spectre SR X + High Explosive Ammo X + 2x High Velocity Barrel VII = tank cannon =/= sniper rifle

Also ludicrously fun to use in low G environments due to physics shenanigans.

Alternatively Snowblind X Ammo and Scram Rail Xs. Not sure if you could go 2x Scram Rail X or if you needed a Frictionless Materials X, but with the rate of fire debuff on the Snowblind X Ammo you could essentialy just keep firing as soon as the rifle is reloaded without ever overheating, dealing pretty solid DPS.

#20159217 Account deletion

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 22 mars 2016 - 11:30 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

The old days, when we still had an offtopic section we could use to talk about stuff, like say BioWare's new IP that was teased at GDC, yet doesn't have a subsection in here so we can't because it's offtopic ...

Oh the irony. The (officially communicated) decision to close offtopic was to foster an ontopic forum for people to talk about BioWare games, yet we can't talk about it and apparently need use other fora, because obviously talking about it in the DAI, or ME:A, or wherever in here is obviously not discussing DAI, or ME:A or whichever represented as subsection in here.

But surely it's just because there isn't much to talk about and hence no subsection needed, otherwise it would quickly devolve into a mess of speculations, wishes, requests and drama over things that may or may not be in said IP and clearly BioWare wishes to preempt such unconstructive and uninformative posting, right?

Right???

#20021110 Hey, Bioware... uhm, i think you maaaaaybe forgot something...

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 17 janvier 2016 - 05:27 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

Then every single pre-Bioware game release is gonna be riddled with the aggravating back and forth between SP vs MP people that keeps people like me wanting to post in safe zones like Off Topic until things clear up and its safe to post again.

Eh, BioWare™ doesn't care about the community circle-jerking around as long as they're circle-jerking about BioWare™ and/or their games.

At least the latter comes with a twelve months warning.

#19951774 Are BSN deleting Threads now?

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 15 décembre 2015 - 05:56 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

I took a look at the archived Lobby and was surprised to see no new topics moved there. I fully expected it to be full of moved threads. Guess someone sent the mods a step-by-step guide on how to find and use the delete function. Or maybe it just doesn't work anymore since you can move topics into archived boards and now the mods have to live with the strenous work of moving their mouse course a couple more pixels.

#19951748 Cannot post on Lobby (off-topic) section and other issues

Here you go, problem fixed. http://forum.bioware...f-topic-empire/

Actually ....

Because you can bet Groups are going to be the next thing to get axed, especially if they are the-thing-you-do-not-talk-about-on-the-BSN.

#19946505 Could ME:A benefit from the style of JoJo's Bizarre adventures?

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 13 décembre 2015 - 08:14 dans General Discussion

I think someone fell for Google's search failure only spitting out the beat'em up game instead of the proper result.

Try searching for "JoJo's Bizarre Adventures wtfbbq" and it will spit out the source material as first search result (no kidding!).

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 16 novembre 2015 - 03:19 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

Moderation should look into the threads that disguise off-topic discussions as game related content.

There are far too many in both the Mass Effect and Dragon Age section of this board.

You lost me at "Moderation".

#19889131 Bring back the Ambience of ME1&2

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 15 novembre 2015 - 08:11 dans General Discussion

ME1 soundtrack over ME2 or ME3 any day of the week.

Uncharted Worlds, The Normandy, Vigil, Liara's World, Noveria, Saren ... all absolutely brilliant audio setpieces.

ME2 was largely forgettable with the exception of the themes for Mordin, Samara and Infiltration (Kasumi DLC). ME3 edges ahead of ME3, but mostly just because the soundtrack paid back homage to the ME1 style for some tracks.

The problem for me is that making a grand orchestral soundtrack like you hear them in blockbuster movies or some such might appear a good idea at first, but you hear the same fanfare in every movie, every trailer and every game that tries to do the same thing. It's ubiquitious and just blends together in one anonymous mash-up of generic epic orchestral stereotypes (pun intended) you can hear by the hundreds if you search for that in Youtube.

#19882956 Why does Bioware discriminate against polyamory?

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 12 novembre 2015 - 02:34 dans General Discussion

I hear Bethesda buys reviews, so probably that.

Would explain why Fallout 4 gets so "OMG BEST GAEM EVUR" numbers from companies, but user score on Metacritic is in the red and there's tons and tons of negative steam reviews.

Buys reviews? That's new, the most heavy handed practice that I ever saw proven beyond doubt was publishers blacklisting reviewers who've scored them unfavourably and giving those who've scored favourably priority with hands-on material. And Bethesda is hardly exemplary, this practice or some form thereof is ubiquitious.

And lol Metacritic. Why this isn't yet renamed into review-bomb.com is beyond me. And tons of negative Steam reviews? Oh dear, never trust a statistic you didn't falsify yourself. Yeah, there are a couple thousand negative reviews ... and offset by more than tenthousand of positive reviews (last I checked, 78% of all reviews were positive).

There's plenty legitimite critique you can point at FO4 (such as my game being unplayable due to driver crashes every five minutes), but what you just brought up is about as solid as a handful of air.

#19862488 No news This N7Day

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 04 novembre 2015 - 05:07 dans General Discussion

Surely they wouldn't let N7 day go past without something...., surely they aren't that silly to alienate their fans.., are they??

Cheers

I'm pretty sure BioWare has no compulsions against alienating their fans *coughofftopiccough*

They didn't even post about it in here. All the informations there are about N7Day are from sources outside the BSN like Twitter, etc., that should be telling enough.

#19860537 What changes would you like to see on the BioWare Forum?

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 03 novembre 2015 - 09:59 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

I have bought, that is very true.

However Bioware have now slipped onto my wait and see list, the one where I wait three months to read all the feedback and see what patches come out for a game. The one where I can pick the game up at a decent discount if I am still interested in it.

You do have to wonder just how many people are like me. How many people have gone from buy without question to wait and see with Bioware.

Ayup.

Then again, customers actually voting with their wallets is a rare breed, so although the recent course BioWare's steering at is resulting in potentionally reduced profit, they are at large not going to lose a lot. I'd even wager that alienating part of their community like this is offset with the influx of new players with next game (remember, ME3 was the perfect point to get into the ME trilogy ...), so ultimately, BioWare won't care the slightest bit.

But that's okay. If they don't want a nice community, let them feed marketing to the Twitter and Facebook masses. Because at least one thing they said regarding their changes is true: there are other communities around. Actual communities that are fostered by their companies and treated as communities, not as a passive audience whose purpose is to just swallow all the marketing and buy their games.

I used to have the BSN as one of my start-up webpages.

#19854973 Biotic squadmates: helmets or breather masks?

Posté par Fidite Nemini sur 01 novembre 2015 - 08:45 dans General Discussion

In general it should depend on the environment - BUUUT biotic fields could contain their own atmospheres for short times?  Might make for an exciting timed mission or one where if your field goes down...so do you (unless you have rapid recharge gear).

I mean 1,000 years later our biotics should have evolved a bit in capability and capacity alongside our acquired knowledge through Reaper study/help.  We should be in a trans-human post human era of technology that even cerberus would have envied.  But ofc that may not be the case if someone has gene roddenberry-esque thoughts of human purity in mind.

1000 years later?

About which hypothetical ME game are you talking?
