#20417155 Feedback... be more like The Witcher 3

Posté par AmberDragon sur 30 juillet 2016 - 09:50 dans Feedback & Suggestions

I do not know what this means for Bioware's future. I hope at least they are going to open a new one for MEA. I have not and was not going to visit MEA forums until I have played it, but I guess I am never going to get that chance now.

To be honest my first thought, well first one after 'Oh look Bioware treating their fans with contempt and disrespect yet again', was 'wow they must be expecting one heck of a backlash to Andromeda, it must be worse than Inquisition...'. I mean why else close your fan forum before you release a really big game, they claim it isn't about cost, so it seems strange. Unless they know they will get a large number of fans coming here and yelling at them because Andromeda doesn't live up to the hype or shows they learnt nothing from fan feedback to ME3 or Dragon Age Inquisition...

CDPR has always been good to there fans even when they get things wrong.

Exactly which is why I buy their games, they have a great policy and unlike Bioware actually do listen to their fans.

You also shaft the creators behind the game by extension. It's a mistake to lump all of them together. In fact, the same mistake the people behind this closure of the forums are making.

Unfortunately there isn't any other way to tell them that you don't agree with how they treat long standing fans of their games. Bioware have been getting worse for treating fans badly for a while now, they have ignored fans who have raised valid concerns or issues with games and now this what else should we do?

Buy used if you have a grudge against a gaming company. You don't miss out on the game, assuming you're interested in it, but your cash goes entirely to the retailer.

Good point I may well do that, will see what the reviews are like. If they do another Dragon Age I really hope it's better than Inquisition and reistates better quest design etc..

well, there's always reddit. FYI, my username here is the same on reddit. I guess we can just take this discussion to reddit.

Can't remember what my reddit id is, most likely it's the same as here, I don't go to reddit much as not so keen on the format. Just a shame Bioware have made this decision, guess they really do hate fans and feedback.

I see Bioware has decided their fans are unimportant etc... closing their forums down next month which stinks. So definitely won't be buying Mass Effect Andromeda now and I may even decide against ever buying any Bioware games ever again given they have such contempt for the fans who support them by buying their games and gjving honest feedback.

Been nice knowing most of you guys here if you want to stay in touch my PSN id etc is in my signature.

#20410914 Concerning Our Forums

Posté par AmberDragon sur 29 juillet 2016 - 06:54 dans BioWare Forum/BSN Help

So in order to get closer to your audience you're going to shut down the direct line to your audience.

Sounds honestly like you're going to shut down the one place genuine criticism can be had and controlled by you.
This is not considering if there are those who do not partake in some of the communities on the other sites because of their potential toxicity being not controlled or hosted by Bioware.

Not to mention that places like facebook, twitter and youtube all have terrible capabilities in acting as a forum where people can actually talk to one another.
And their site rules can be easily swayed to limit any kind of critique.
What are we supposed to have 160 character maximum conversations with a developer or between each other?
How does that breed any kind of nuance or conversation?
How is that anything but disconnecting?!?!

And that's not even considering the three language differences you have on this site that are dedicated to them. What do they do now?

I wouldn't mind if you just said you can't be bothered to host the site any more as that would make sense, but by removing the best way to talk to a community of like minded individuals along with customer service, tech support and creative works all being propped up by those very people makes absolutely zero sense.

And this'll probably be the last time a criticism can be heard like this as if I were to tweet this then not only would I be over character limit but I would also be drowned by the thousands of other users before twitter auto-deletes the tweet.

This all feels like Bioware is trying to be trendy and niche again, pretending to be a "cool department" and sacrificing usability for trendy points...

Well said and added to which it's a huge F¥¢€ YOU to all the fans who have supported them and their games for decades. Bioware will be the only game devs who don't have their own forums for their games. Reddit, Facebook etc are rubbish places to leave game feedback or converse with other players. I was already on the fence about buying Mass Effect: Andromeda now with Bioware basically saying we don't give a F¥¢€ about fans well ... myself and many others I suspect will also vote with their wallets. It feels as if Bioware know fans will hate Andromeda like so many disliked the very messy poorly designed Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Do you have more information as to how will they be pushing co-op and multiplayer into the game? As in making it a part of the Single Player campaign? Co-Op like Dead Space 3? Multiplayer like Invasion in Dark souls? Destiny? Star Wars Battlefront?

If they are forcing multiplayer and co-op into Mass Effect Andromeda... well... EA just doesnt know when to stop. Aside from them sports game, the only multiplayer game with their logo that is worth a damn is probably only Battlefield.

If that is indeed what EA wants to do - shove multiplayer into every darn game just to nickle and dime players, I wish that they will merge with Konami and bring their pathetic multiplayer in everything philosophy to pachinko machines. Yeah, EA/Konami - Mass Effect Pachinko with multiplayer and co-op experience.

Sorry I can't remember where I read it, it was one of the articles after E3 this year. It stuck out because I don't see the point of having both in a game. Of course it could have been a misprint, after reading that I gave up on the game totally and haven't read anything else about it.

I'd play it on PC if at all possible. The only reason I'd recommend it is that there are mods that restore cut content for both games, and some of it is really terrific (I'd argue it's necessary for KoTOR 2). Plus, you should be able to run either one of them on a toaster. They released in '03 and '04 respectively.

On Steam, KoTOR 2 at least got a recent patch that added controller support. I'm not sure if the same thing happened with KoTOR 1 though.

I would recommend them to anyone, especially if you're a Star Wars fan. They're wonderful and sublime.

Unfortunately my health doesn't allow me to play on PC, hence I bought a cheap second-hand xbox360 so I could play Witcher 2 (having become to ill to finish it on pc). It's one of the main reasons I play games on the playstation (the controller suits my arthritic hands the best), shame it never made it onto PlayStation though.

Try KOTOR, it delivers a much better story and characters than DAI.

Will see if I can get it for the Xbox 360 :)

I just finished playing the Trespasser dlc, and sorry but apart from finding Sandal's diary and Cullen getting a pet Mabari (would still have rather had Sandal in the game and not Dagna and missed having a Mabari), I am sorry to say I found it very "meh" .... so disappointing, I am glad I got it at a discounted price but not sure it was worth even that. If that was the best dlc in the opinion of people here then sorry definitely won't bother with Descent or Hakon and I wouldn't buy the rip off armor packs anyway. Trespasser was too linear and not enough to do, also it was a shoddy way for Bioware to wrap the story given people with older consoles can't play it. Also had a lot of glitches, at a few points my elven warrior was a disembodied head and pair of arms moving around the landscape! Very little banter, yet again and just, well, sorry but I found it so boring. Bioware really need to up their game, even the free dlc missions in witcher were more fun.

Already decided that unless it's a totally outstanding game I won't be buying the next Mass Effect game because they have already stated they are pushing multiplayer and co-op into it ... yeah we saw how well that worked for Assassin's Creed:Unity hence it not being in Syndicate. It will be the first Bioware game I won't be pre-ordering, if I buy it at all it will be second-hand or bargain bucket. Given what a bad taste Inquisition has left with it's unfixed bugs and glitches that Bioware have walked away from and the awful way they treat their fans I doubt I will ever pre-order another Bioware game including the next Dragon Age if they make one, it's sad because I am such a huge fan of all their other games with the exception of KOTOR because I never played that one, they dropped the ball big time with Inquisition in my opinion. :(

Yes, purty please BioWare. Dog is prettt much an icon like Sandal. Bring them both back, Allgod!

This 1000000000000000000000x I was so disappointed not to have those two in DAI.

So much heart and soul being put into good ol' Geralt's last game. Amazing how much they learned with just 2 games under their belt before this. And I seriously think it is going to be the last of the Witcher series, because if their track record is something to go by, Cyberpunk is going to be fantastic, and they will probably focus on that for a while. I am not much into shooter games but I did like ME. And since I don't know anything about Cyberpunk, that if ME is going to be released at the same time, I will probably play ME first.

I am not into shooters as such but I did enjoy ME and I am looking forward to Cyberpunk. I did have ME Andromeda on pre-order but I am afraid given how Bioware treated people here and with DAI being as meh as it was, I cancelled it, from what I am hearing online, multiplayer, microtransactions etc are going to be a big part of ME4 and that is not really my thing, I might buy it when it hits the bargain bins.

FWIW, early rumbling suggests that they nail this aspect in FO4.

God, I can taste it.

I may give it a try sometime, I have never played a Fallout game so no idea what they're like, I always thought they were more first person shooter type games or rather relied heavily on shooting things and I suck at that. Takes me too long to aim by the time I've aimed I'm dead LOL.

Like OMG, I totally failed a mission righhhhhhhhhht now and I feel so doooooooooooown. Ya know, like, it's totally that mission where you gotta find the Little Bleep and there's this dwarf trying to steal your job and you can like recruit your old buddy Vernon Roche instead to fill in the blanks and yeah, I feel so dowwwwwwwwwwn, girrrrrrrls. Totally don't want to go back to an earlier save file, like omg... who does that!?
PS: You're allowed to punch me for writing this post with a Valley Girl accent.

There are a few quests that hit you like that in TW3... I thought I was doing the right thing in a quest and I ended up
Spoiler
Don't get me started on the bad ending, I sat there stunned thinking omg what have I done.... LOL I love it, I missed having a game where decisions actually made a difference like that, such a shame DAI failed in that respect ...

I'm not really a huge fan of registering on new forums just for one game, but if it continues like this, I may have to do it. I've been reporting my crashes on the Facebook page and through twitter. No response.

You don't have to join their forum, as I suggested before open a support ticket http://en.cdprojektr...ontact-support/ I tried to see if there was anything on their forum to help you but can't find other PS4 users reporting crashes there... some xbox users and some pc users but no PS4 users.

Have to say I have not had a huge problem with crashes on my PS4 version of TW3 but I guess I am just lucky this time, I was unlucky with DAI in that I had the banter bug which is still not fixed from what I have read on this forum...

The game has crashed on me three times since Monday. I hear patch 1.10 and 1.11 are responsible for those hiccups on PS4.

Strange I am playing on PS4 and haven't had problems with the game crashing, guess I must be lucky. Suggest you raise a support tag, CD Projekt Red seem to be quite good at responding to support requests.

You're being a real turd in the punch bowl at my pity party, Xety. :P I can't go back, it's been too long now and I have too much under my belt. You think ME is bad, have you played Until Dawn for the PS4? I love that game, but ffs, there is no going back. No "Saves", if you cut the game off, it continues exactly where you left off, people dead, decisions made, it doesn't matter.

Spoiler

@KBomb I have been tempted to get Until Dawn but I really dislike survival horror games where things leap out at you from the dark, so assuming I would dislike Until Dawn am I right in that assumption? I wish there was a demo for it...

Spread that preach, brother. Spread it far.

It does look good, seriously considering giving it a try.

Just finished the Hearts of Stone dlc/expansion and it was brilliant, the story, the characters, the monsters runecrafting, armour and the weapons all just great. Loving the viper armour also laughed out loud at the Skyrim reference (won't spoil it for those who ha got there yet). Really looking forward to the next expansion now too, especially given it's even longer.

I am guessing piracy! Or it released at midnight in Europe, which was 55 minutes ago.

No they actually did a world wide release at midnight, although PSN UK didn't start till 1am, but it was supposed to start at midnight uk time with the other countries getting it at whatever that was in their time zones. Unfortunately due to slow connection mine won't finish downloading for six hours so my playstation will be working on it most of the night... LOL wish I could afford superfast fibre broadband...

Oh well back to playing my free trial of ffxiv, which is very good but can't justify the cost of the game and £9 minimum per month to play once the trial ends tomorrow.

When I patched my game, all the free DLC was zapped. I had to redownload and reinstall all 16 of them. And it didn't let me pick and choose - there was just one checkbox for everything. Again though, this is PC via GOG Galaxy client. I don't know how the ps4 or Xbone interface work.
Amber, did you just try reinstalling the DLC and reloading your last save from before the patch? I feel like that should work no problem.
PS and OT - I met Mike Laidlaw today. He remains a super nice guy.

Tried it, doesn't work on the PS4, so got to wait for a hotfix which hopefully they deliver soon. Luckily I have my pre-new game+ saves so I can still use those for the expansion as it's only NG+ that the dlc got screwed up on.

Cool he seems nice.

Met a few famous people when I worked in London and when I've visited London since I became to disabled to work. Not sure how familiar any of them are to you guys but used to work near to Capital Radio's building so met Chris Tarrant and Kenny Everett a lot, so often that we used to chat as we passed each other to go to work. Also met the late Richard Harris and met Alan Rickman... and a few others that you probably wouldn't have heard of outside of the UK.

Reinstalling the DLC and then reloading your game should fix it. I'm surprised you even managed to load the game at all - it wouldn't let me.

Hope they get a fix for the PS4 soon bummer losing my wolf armour... :(
