#20142645 When did the release date get pushed to 2017?

Posté par FemShem sur 13 mars 2016 - 08:41 dans General Discussion

Funny, but indirect. Seriously. Was there a major date change. Most of th "official" looking stuff on the web isn't redacted. It still says "holiday 2016" and that's on EA sites.

But this is from a BioWare editor. We assume she knows it's not coming out until 2017.

What gives?

Anyone know when the approximate release date is.

In other words. How long do I have to hold on to this tanking stock. Or how low should I let it tank before I buy more and hope to make some cash hoping presales can bolster a good quarter. That's about all that can help EA out. They seem to suck at everything else lately.

Even their P2P games in CG isn't bringing the revenue it was in HoDA as far as I can tell.

BioWare makes them Viable from time to time. They are a volatile stock...so when are you REALLY releasing your game.

I also PLAY all the BioWare games. Sure you make them cut corners and screw their writers and programmers, but they still produce a good product in spite of EA, though not as good as it could be IMHO.

Unlike the ME:A threads. Those peeps really need a drink...or a good spanking or something.

Only thing I don't like about DA:I. Can't roll up to the tavern and get in Inquisitor a shot or visit the local brothel.

They did bring back the smooch with the LI, which I love...but depending on who your with...damn they drag you anywhere. Josie is definately not worth dragging your ass outside for...Sera...at least your still in the tavern...

I remember my first play through when you first got to Skyhold, go to a cut scene and your conversation could land you...ANYWHERE...dammit Cassandra was a regular ******. Not to mention the first time you talk to Blackwell, thought it was punishment for flirting with the guy.

Eh, back to rl life and cranking out some words.

I should make time to game soon.

Thanks DQ.

I enjoyed pages of mindless reading and laughing.

I never tire of your banter:)

#20101844 What DA 2 gets right: A study in Video Game Antagonists.

Posté par FemShem sur 24 février 2016 - 05:11 dans General Discussion

Anders was an added antagonist.  Act 3 was added on in a month.  Is it fair to add him to the crowd?  Maybe we leave it at Meredith and the Arishock.  Unfortunate incident with mom, and Bartrand is a bastard who probably cause your brother or sister to die on an early play through, before you figured out the trick...so crazy alive or dead wouldn't Bartrand be a possible antagonist?

Anders wouldn't have one of EA hadn't said, hey BioWare we need an Act 3 your game is too short, you have a month.

The war was inevitable (which would have been much more shocking), and Orsino, tho a boss, no one even attempts to make him a bad guy...because it was rushed writing and makes virtually no sense.

DA2 would have been the best (potentially) in the series if EA had given them two years, IMHO, but they didn't.

Too bad.  Hawke was suppose to be the protagonist of DA:I.  Act I dialogue reads just like Hawke...the cory reveal would have been amazing!

Thanks EA, for screwing everyone.

#20101826 What can Bioware and ME:A learn from Dragon Age Inquisition?

Posté par FemShem sur 24 février 2016 - 04:58 dans General Discussion

To me at the basics, Hawke (angry or funny) is similar to the two Sheps...that'w the toon I like playing.  The Warden from DA:O isn't too far off either.  The Inquisitor and Hawke's goodie two shoes personality makes me want to cap my own character, or hope someone in my unit will do it for me so I can play one of them.

The more varied the companions the better the ride.  Ratchet up the stakes, and let some of them get killed (potentially).  We need a tank and high dps to finish the game, and our toon.

It's an RPG, give us cut scenes.  I love them...it's an RPG.  Here's what's great, someone who doesn't want to see the cut scene...skips it.  Just like they skip the romances.  BioWare writes the best RPGs in town (skip the Witcher whining for once go troll another site...notice how there is no fan fix for Witcher b/c he's a boring misogynist and no fun to role play).

So let's take what BioWare does best starting at Kotor.

Interesting relationships.  Minigames within the games and/or puzzles...dunno why, but it's fun.  Hit up characters on the ship or between missions...if you don't want to..skip it...most of us like it.

We always want to go to the bar...dunno why, Inquisition we couldn't get a drink outside a cut scene lame.

You always have to have the highest approval rating for lesbian nookie.  I'm a lesbian, I don't have to work that hard for it in real life, but I do in a BioWare game...I should get an extra achievement for that.

Bring it and the characters.  If you skimp, we'll be pissed, we can get shoot 'em up bang, bang anywhere.  Hot toons with badaass dialogue...that's what we're paying for.

#20101796 Seriously, can we not get subcategories for this forum

Posté par FemShem sur 24 février 2016 - 04:35 dans General Discussion

How about:

General

Off Topic

Romance.

...Just those three would free up a great deal.

People like to talk about romance, I get it...I play them, but it should have it's own place...thread.

That would help a great deal.  People, for reasons beyond me, get heated on those things, and most don't care that much.

#20081109 Can you use mods on the iPad Pro? Just checking.

Posté par FemShem sur 14 février 2016 - 11:07 dans Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

This might be an idiot question. I rarely play on PC, I usually play on platforms so I rarely get to use mods.

I'm replaying KOTOR...well because it's KOTOR.

Can you use mods on an iPad? I seem to remember using them a while back on my MacBook, though it was a pain to convert my MacBook into a PC, essentially. I think I did it for a couple of DA games. I slept since then, and gave that computer an accidental bath.

So, on an iPad Pro.

Opinions';

#20081100 Seriously, can we not get subcategories for this forum

Posté par FemShem sur 14 février 2016 - 10:57 dans General Discussion

We can relate that to the OP.

If we need a gay Krogan romance thread...I'm okay with that...it can go in...spoilers? I don't know if that's before or after they have successful rare offspring. Even rarer Krogan Femslash...IDC...

Everything can't be under general...

I'd like to actually be able to peruse this site, but it's impossible.

Don't get me wrong, I like BioWare's forums, but I don't want to check them daily or multiple times a day to see if anything new or interesting has popped up.

And FFS, romances are the same conversations rehashed.

I'm a lesbian. I play the lesbian romance option, but I don't want to discuss the same topic with straight male gamers across 3,000 threads of the SAME THING!!!

Please, just subcategories so we can stop saying the same things over and over and over.

It's like a bag of hammers and we're not due for release until "holiday of 2016". I assume that means late December 2016 to be pushed to 2017 without a hard release date.

SUBCATAGORIES!!!

Really. I'm quite nice in person.

#20080803 Most Well-Written Game In The Trilogy

Posté par FemShem sur 14 février 2016 - 04:54 dans General Discussion

I love DA2. I played it 9x. It had the potential to be the best written, but act 3 was written in a month, and we had limited character interactions when there weren't cut scenes.

Great dialogue and plot structures, but the writers only had a year, instead of two.

Actually if you play DA:I act I like your Hawke and just read the dialogue that way and the Cory reveal is awesome...which it was suppose to be...but EA hatcheted everything and had the writing team slap on act 3 because the game was too short.

The war was going to happen no matter what...and it was...we're given that info in Inquisition. That plot line was laid out in advance, pretty sure that was true, what Anders did was inconsequential to the main plot...it just beat you over the head like a dead horse instead of being like...wow we're at war!

I love the relationships between characters and Hawke has a hell of a journey. If the writers had another year, I dunno how fab it would have been. Is it my fav, yes. Is it the best written...probably not, DA:O is, but 2 is better than I writing wise. Inquisition falls a little flat, but the game is a great deal better.

The writing in 2 if pretty fab, but they just had more time in Origins, and they were rushed in 2. Some of Act 3 doesn't make sense at all. Orsino's decision really isn't in character, I'm not going to sit here and rip it up, it is my fav.

It could have been the best, but EA cut corners and time. The game developers were totally screwed, though nice heads up display.

Loved the characters though.

Okay, we've known about this game for a while.

Romance, combat, dialogue, plot structure, action, character creation, what we want to see, what we don't want to see...

Can we not get sub categories for ME:A?

Is it that much trouble for tens of thousands of threads?

Too much trouble for your fan base to split it up like you have for the other games...into any kind of logical breakdown...other than this ONE thread?

Sigh, just asking. Your forum. Your fans.

#20080778 Stand Alone? Sequel? Trilogy?

Posté par FemShem sur 14 février 2016 - 04:28 dans General Discussion

I doubt Bioware will tell us ahead of the release of MEA. They will probably leave the door open to make a trilogy but see how well MEA sells and how Ryder is received before deciding whether to continue with it. IIRC, Hawke was originally intended to be a multi game protagonist until DA2 fallout caused the "no, DA games have new protagonists every time" line. If everyone loathes Ryder they might even dust Shepard off ala Master Chief if ME5 is made.
I would prefer a multi game protagonist (assuming I like her -- I hated Hawke) because one of the parts I enjoyed the most from ME was building up a personal history with the NPCs. Save game importing with one protagonist and crew had its flaws, but I still found it really immersive and would hate to see it go.

You hated Hawke because EA cut the writing team down to a one year turn around on the game and act 3 was written in a month. If they were given two years it would have been amazing, IMHO. ACT I of DA:I just reads like Hawke instead of cookie cutter Inquisitor, and the Corypheus reveal then makes sense and has high stakes.

The writing really isn't that bad dialogue wise the redundant use of locations is what killed it for most people.

Then EA had to give DA:I a year extension to do the race creation instead of just having Hawke...guess they should have let them write it correctly the first time, and we wouldn't have had a crap game in between the two. Inquisition was game of the Year, but the writing could have been much better, they had to write down what they had already written in advance...it's kinda obvious if you write for a living...

EA can screw up a free lunch through greed and pushing deadlines.

They have owned BioWare for 10 years now. Let's hope they get how to make money with it. It's like wine. Let it breathe. It's not two buck Chuck...that's your soccer game and Madden. Pump that crap out every year. It has a market niche, it's not an RPG with a cult following.

You bought something because it was profitable, don't kill it.

Hello DQ!!!

Time for my gay A$$ to celebrate in the states.

I mean it's such a shame Justice Scalia died (well known Supreme Court Justice who hated gay rights). It's a lot like when I found out Fred Phelps died.

In honor of his passing, I need to pick up the game in my Dorian romance! I live in Texas, who knew he lived here?

As a gay activist, I'm as sad to learn of his passing as he would be to learn of mine.

Tennis anyone?

Off to slay a dragon!
