says thank you, latest dumb--- author, for giving me a one-letter edit of "n."

AtreiyaN7
Sure, I could set up the search to probably find the right "n" (maybe - kind of depends), but he needs to learn how to do things correctly. I certainly can't be indulging an author's fail so that he/she repeats their massive fail in future rounds of edits. I'm already annoyed enough by the two preceding authors today who were also fail with their edits.

Is sending you a one-letter edit one of those deliberately childish things?
nov. 09 2015 09:37 -
AtreiyaN7
LOL - I think he literally has an "n" all by itself somewhere that he wants to replace with an actual word. When I say I might be able to find the right one, it's possible IF he he entered it a certain way with blank spaces around it (assuming it's in the middle of a sentence). In any case, it's not worth the effort on my end even if I can find it, because he really needs to learn to NOT f--- up ASAP.

Yeah, I finally had to do Mission 45 as part of my quest to get a platinum trophy for MGSV. :P At any rate, I have four achievements left - all of which are a lot easier than S rank & hitting all objectives. I still deeply resent the [Total Stealth] War Economy mission (you try sneaking around and having to listen to four different conversations without getting caught!!!!). God, even going through Mfinda was easier (in fact, I got Foxhound for three perfect runs in a row o...

says Dear Stupid Author #241,435...PLEASE ENTER YOUR STUPID CHAPTER NUMBERS AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH CHAPTER!!!!!
nov. 07 2015 09:10
-
AtreiyaN7
It doesn't matter how long OR short a manuscript is, I hold authors to certain standards - and I REALLY expect to see some f---ing chapter numbers at minimum. If I seem inordinately angry about chapter numbers, it's because I've already had so much author-related stupidity to deal with in one week that I've pretty much hit my weekly limit. By the way, she's a repeat author, and this is her third title - she has no excuse for something this stupid.

Well, calculus is admittedly hard - anything below that should be doable for anyone, even me with my non-math brain (which is still capable of doing algebra, tyvm).

says dear lame urban romance authors, please don't come back to me with the same bad manuscripts (only with 45 bonus chapters added). :P
nov. 06 2015 11:31
-
AtreiyaN7
Yeah, I just had an author who did that. Her first version of the manuscript looked like a train wreck, and years later, I get the same manuscript - only with 45 new chapters because her lame story REALLY needed to be even longer and more pointless than it already was. *rolleyes*
nov. 06 2015 11:34 -
AtreiyaN7
The only good thing is that the manuscript looks almost normal (as in, she doesn't have ten million wonky fonts and bad spacing). The content seems to be as bad as it was before, though (I found that the exact same phrasing that I hated in one chapter is still present - pfft).

The AR just told me that this woman claimed that the online edit form wasn't working and that she was having sooooo much trouble that she needed the AR to enter her edits for her. The AR told her that, gee whiz, she'd be happy to enter the edits for her - but that the author would have to pay at the hourly rate.
nov. 04 2015 09:20 -
AtreiyaN7
SURPRISE! All of a sudden - after the hourly rate got mentioned - the online edit form was suddenly working again. Too bad the author basically screwed up three out of five or so edits and terminally sucks. I SERIOUSLY hate this giant faker, and I pointed out to the AR that I am now DONE with saving this idiot from herself.

Not only am I in no way obligated to fix anyone's errors at any point in time, the author is actually entirely responsible for fixing any errors that he/she inadvertently makes. The only reason I fix people's crap all the time is because, despite my angry rants about this stuff, I'm actually nice enough to try to help people out on my own 99% of the time in an effort to make their work better (unless they're total a-holes or liars, and/or drive me completely insane).

Ms. Dallas Socialite/Gossip Columnist/Whatever was so f---ing disorganized that I kept having to stop work and constantly ask for her to give me missing images on the original manuscript that I slaved over. When the images WEREN'T missing, they were either mislabeled or were not of adequate quality. Because the text wrapped around so many images and because they were critically important to the layout and placement, it was impossible to get anything done in a timely manner.
oct. 31 2015 09:28 -
AtreiyaN7
See, I had already invested hours and hours of my life slaving over her stupid manuscript by the point that I started seeing the missing/mislabeled/bad images, and I got majorly pissed off since I LITERALLY could not progress until I got each image. At one point I think i said she needed to check ALL her images and make sure to provide every missing image.
oct. 31 2015 09:29 -
AtreiyaN7
I went through the whole "can't work due to missing images and have to stop AGAIN to e-mail the AR to get the stupid author to submit missing images x/y/z" thing SO many times that I finally blew my stack and asked for her to be reassigned (am pretty sure I did, because if I worked on it until the end, then clearly I blotted out the entire experience because it was THAT horrible).

So basically, I drove right up to the area where my target was and pretty much walked in like the Metal Gear version of James Bond. Thank you smoke-filled jeep for your starring role in my S-rank run (also, thanks to Snake for looking so damned good in a tux <3 ).

Okay, since I edited that last comment, you probably want to stick yours below this. I am, however, seriously entertaining the idea about putting Snake in his tuxedo for at least one mission now that I've given it some more thought. I will also semi-guiltily admit that MAYBE I'm thinking about having him wear the animal-print uniform/pajamas at some point for the lulz - which is totally NOT because there's now a shirtless option. *cough*

Hmm, I thought I would have more of a reaction to this thing that I semi-expected than I actually did last night. Mostly because I knew something like this might happen due to having accidentally read spoilers about what happens in the comic. *sigh* I'm still holding out a vague hope that the thing that happened is actually a horrible, horrible cheap trick and that it somehow didn't actually happen.

I can accept almost anything happening on the show - except for Daryl Dixon dying. If Daryl EVER dies, I will rage-quit the show and never watch again (well, I'm weak when it comes to TWD, so I guess the odds are high that I'd cave in and keep watching even if they did kill Daryl off).

Oh, I told the AR that I wanted to remain incognito BUT that if the wicked witch hassled her about my name, she had my permission to cough up my name to placate her. I can still bail if I want in the future in theory. And her request shouldn't allow her to contact me directly at least (thank God, because I want NO direct contact with that woman whatsoever).
oct. 25 2015 07:47 -

If the author is told that you wish to remain incognito but still hassles the AR for it... that would get my spidey-sense tingling, heh.
oct. 25 2015 08:25 -
AtreiyaN7
Yeah, well, see my past rants about De'Lure for reference. No matter what, I can ultimately bail on an author if they're really horrible (should any of these dips---s acts out similarly, then they'll find themselves blacklisted just like he did, and the company just won't do business with them anymore). Additionally, it's not like one of these wingnuts is ever going to fly to Hawaii and bother me in person. Mostly I'm trying to spare the AR from getting a bad review in...

@fort: lol! I'm trying to avoid relationship problems now, but I'm not so sure that's going to be easy in the game. I think Lana is actually into a certain male NPC who shall remain nameless (her approval dropped when I flirted with mystery man, who I would totally go for if not for already having a Doc/Theron love triangle going - makes me wish I stayed single on at least one character, lol).

I can correct it globally, but any errors that arise from the author handing a total clusterf--- to me are HIS responsibility. Christ, aside from all the spelling, grammar and capitalization errors that I warned the author about last time, this problem with HIS fail attempt at creating paragraphs (using blank spaces) was at the top of the list of his problems.

And yes, one of my friends just saw the f-bomb repeated a whole lot of times via text earlier. I have only SLIGHTLY calmed down at this point - these bleeping idiot authors should be required to take IQ tests just so that they don't waste either their readers' time or MY time.
