Yep, well...this is why these people drive me insane sometimes. *sigh* I just don't know where this guy is getting this stuff from. It's like he's mashing together wackos who believe in alien abduction and UFOs (they are absolutely nutty fruitcakes) with scientists, astronomers, and sci-fi authors. The only "sci-fi" author he could justifiably call a cultist/weirdo is L. Ron Hubbard (but I'm not sure that he even mentioned him).

hmmmm. Anything to make a buck, I guess.

And this is a book about cults, in which he seems to equate sci-fi authors and filmmakers as being part of some sort of cult pushing the idea of intelligent extraterrestrial life. A) Science fiction has the word "fiction" in its name for a reason and B) Science fiction is based on real-world scientific hypotheses, theories, and ideas. Believing that extraterrestrial life MIGHT exist on other worlds is based on science, not weird cult-like crap. He's conflating a bunch of different...

At any rate, he also claims that there's a scene in Raiders of the Last Ark where the Ark shoots out a beam of energy (he says "fire/power") at a UFO. I would like to know EXACTLY when that happens because in all the times I've watched the movie, THAT has never, ever happened (EVER!!!!). Or am I the one person who missed seeing this alleged UFO? *rolleyes*

If there's anyone who isn't pushing a belief in extraterrestrials as a replacement for religion, I would have to point at Steven Spielberg. What, has this author not watched Schindler's List? Does he NOT know of Spielberg's involvement in the Shoah Foundation???? *headdesk*

Why? Because it's a fiction novel where the author centered all the text on every single page. LOLOLOL! Maybe she confused her fiction novel with poetry or something - I have no idea. Although it's weird and completely silly, at least it doesn't cause me any extra work.

I did get my TWD zombie Merle, but I was a bit nonplussed by the mystery gift from someone I totally do not know. The box with the helicopter actually had my name and address on it, but when I opened it, I was like whaaaaaaaat?! Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool and probably wouldn't mind keeping it, but maybe it was intended for someone else in my building? *shrug*

As far as I'm concerned the world begin not a moment before indoor plumbing became the rule not the exception. Everything before that was just cave people grunting around a fire.

would like to close my inbox because assignments just keep pouring in every other minute. I mean, I know my boss thinks I'm superhumanly fast (because I kind of am compared to the other book designers), but COME ON! This is a little nuts...

Also doesn't hurt that Gaeta (Alessandro Juliani) from BSG and Desmond are in it (Heny Ian Cusick) from Lost are in it. What can I say, I'm a sci-fi geek, so seeing cast members from some of my favorite series tickles me. :P And Paige Turco was in American Gothic, which I liked...and there's Theseus from Continuum too, actually - Richard Harmon who plays Julian Randol (aka Theseus). I clearly watch way too much tv. :P

I wont watch. I still haven't forgiven him for Pluto. Or for mocking the Daily Show logo.

@Jack: Okay, Pluto's demotion still stings a BIT, but I think it's time that you two hug it out - come on now, it's science awesomeness!!!!

Might get one of those new Razer Blade 14s now that they've upgraded the screen (would come in handy if I ever go on vacation).

Sure, his dancing was terrible (two hip replacements, cut Lando some slack here), but it was entertaining to see Billy Dee Williams dancing. And yes, it WAS a Star Wars number.
