says thanks, Anne - now I have to do 100 painful edits on another of your author's books. *headdesk*

If the changes really mess up the image placement, it is going to turn into a huge f---ing headache for me. I swear, i should have said no, but my conscience had to go and say: "Hey, you TOTES owe her, this year in particular." *sigh*

You should tell her, when I finish this I'm training my Pokemon and kicking everyone's butts on the S.S. Anne.

would like to slap every idiotic religious author whose edits I am forced to do - like Anne's author today!

Oh, and he also claims that "genome sciences and studies" hit a brick wall and that all they prove that evolution didn't happen (there isn't a "genome science" anyway - maybe he meant molecular biology, genetics, and/or genome sequencing). WTF? Seriously, how do you manage to turn scientific evidence that proves the exact OPPOSITE of everything that you claim is actually proof that you're right????

How is it even possible for someone to go through the mental contortions necessary to twist both reality and facts like THIS guy did?
nov. 26 2015 01:09 -
AtreiyaN7
And yes, there were multiple edits on my comments because I was so furious that I almost couldn't see or think straight or type after reading this author's pablum. If anyone's comments ended up in weird spots because I kept doing rewrites, well, oops! :P

says in other news about stupid authors: I have a stupid author who handed his manuscript off to a stupid friend for "editing" and didn't review it! Turns out the stupid friend incorrectly changed six pages of Chapter 9 which now need to be replaced.

AtreiyaN7
I hate stupid people, and I hate you now. Thanks for the great start to my Monday wherein I now have to agree to doing this as an edit and slapping your stupid future replacement chapter in!!!!!!!!!! And yes, I'm kind of punishing him by demanding that he send a COMPLETE revised version of Chapter 9 and not just the six stupid pages that got messed up.
nov. 23 2015 09:09 -
AtreiyaN7
I could have maybe punished him further by insisting that he submit a revised manuscript and that he'd have to reblock, but that would have inevitably led to more headaches for me. I certainly don't trust him after this astonishing display of his complete lack of foresight and common sense. *flips author the bird because she is in a vile mood now*

says in other news, I would really like to punch this author for writing his FICTION manuscript with over half the manuscript stupidly stuck in a giant 156-page table.
nov. 22 2015 11:13
-
AtreiyaN7
I wish - I'd formatted around 200 pages, which I then had to carefully copy and set aside temporarily. THEN I had to convert the giant table into normal text. THEN I had to apply the appropriate styles and paste back the other 200-odd pages in before I could continue on.
nov. 23 2015 02:09 -
SporkFu
A 156 page table? On purpose? Gotta say I would check something like that before submitting the manuscript, myself.
nov. 23 2015 05:52 -
AtreiyaN7
@spork: I'm quite sure that it basically amounted to a dumb accident that went on for 156 pages - kind of like when he accidentally put the title and the first stanza of a much earlier poem into a table. *rolleyes@author*

BoS (revised edition): Pros = cats and kittens, plus power armor; cons = racist militaristic jerks now thanks to Maxson (I used to love you guys in FO3 - too bad about the Lyons family...) and they lose way too many vertibirds...and they don't really like to share tech...and they want to kill synths like my bestie Nick. The thought of killing innocent cats by turning on the BoS is bothering me more than killing a bunch of racist goons.
nov. 22 2015 08:51 -
AtreiyaN7
Institute: Pros = futuristic tech and trees and really nice, clean environments; cons = slavery of synths and some shady research. Actually, there's one other "plus" I guess, but I'm not talking about it.
nov. 22 2015 08:57 -
AtreiyaN7
Yep, I'm still stuck because I have to murder cats (and their BoS owners) or murder my many, many abolitionist friends or murder the shiny future of mankind because I'm not down with slavery...or doing some horrible combination of at least two of these options (I think). Ah, choices! :P

If you really want awkward, the FO4 male protaganist's former spouse has the same name as my mother. Also doesn't help that her default looks very much like Piper. But really all romances feel awkward in the game due to the spouse.
nov. 19 2015 03:50 -
AtreiyaN7
@Jack: Okay, that definitely trumps the weirdness of Deacon's former wife's name - lol.

wonders why Bethesda torments me with snarky guys with reasonably interesting personalities that I CAN'T romance.

Preston falls into the nice but boring category. Paladin Danse is actually kind of attractive, but even though I DID join the BoS...I find Maxson's views on synths to be objectionable and am assuming that any romance with Danse might be doomed as a result. Nick Valentine has a Bogey-esque charm but obviously can't be romanced (but if that option were there...I kind of would - he's a nice, NON-boring guy - plus I like detectives). Deacon is the one that I WOULD romance if I could b...

That leaves the other two guys: the ghoul (he's a little too Walking Dead for my tastes and will only remind me of a walker every time I see him) and the third human dude who I haven't run into yet. Anyway, I find it ironic that I did some matchmaking between a human and a robot, but can't actually hook up with the incredibly human-looking third-gen synth dude. *sigh*
nov. 17 2015 05:13 -
AtreiyaN7
Says. woops, found out Deacon was just lying (again) about the synth thing. Well, we ended up at best friends status at any rate. Now it's time for another companion after I deal with this mission - gotta get those companion bonuses. :P

Actually, it's not TOO bad - most of them seemed to be about final print files, so I'm already down to two new assignments and edits for two titles. I just hope that wacko (repeat author) with his "Empire" sci-fi series didn't effing use that horrible dark olive green color for his text again (I specifically said this dumb--- needed to use, you know, BLACK as the font color).

Oh yeah, killing super mutants is fun too! :P You wouldn't believe how much time I spent recycling all the picket fences to set up my garden, which is clearly going to need another expansion soonish. Maybe it'll qualify for farm status soonish, hehehe.
nov. 12 2015 10:16 -
SporkFu
LOL ... so... okay, can you become a better gardener over time, or is it automatic? is there a benefit? Will you feed people? I'm not trying to be snarky or anything. I'm curious.
nov. 12 2015 10:19 -
AtreiyaN7
Typo fix: tato plants (keep forgetting they're not pure tomatoes despite looking like them). @spork: You have settlements with people who live in them (if you build them). Those people require a certain amount of food and water. You assign people to take care of plants, do guard duty, etc.

SAMPLE TEXT: The station rotates to create artificial gravity, being constructed before the advent of the graviton gravity generator, now allowing ships to travel with inhabited compartments that have equivalent sea level Earth gravity, solving the problem of muscle atrophy and calcium depletion in the bones after extended periods in space.
nov. 11 2015 08:50 -
AtreiyaN7
Do you think you could maybe stick another grav/gravity/gravition in that section of text, author? *sarcasm* And yes, I'm being extra nitpicky since he managed to earn my undying enmity just based on all the bold/bold italicized text that I just had to convert into normal freaking non-bold text.

Uh, yep - if you get the physical edition, you'll end up downloading 20-plug GB anyway. SO yeah, I decided to just go ahead and get it on Steam too. I'm installing now, and the download is at...52%. Not too bad - I should be able to play tomorrow at some point. I might leave my computer on and let it download overnight.
nov. 11 2015 06:49 -

I was planning on the physical copy of the game just to avoid the huge download... Ah well, thanks for the heads up.

Yeeeeeeah, I technically got the Pip-Boy edition for the Pip-Boy, but I was sort of expecting that most of the game would be on the disc(s). Alas, that's not the case.
