I'm not sure if I'm too paranoid about cybersecurity, or not paranoid enough.

8 miles, 40 lbs, -25 degrees F. I think I've earned a 'Winter Walker' achievement. Nice sunrise halfway through, though.

If a Steam notification didn't pop up when you were finished, then it doesn't really count. :) But in all seriousness, that sounds really impressive.

Eh. It is, but it isn't. It was harder than it should have been, on account that I haven't been doing m(any) long ruck marches and so I lost my marching callouses long ago. On the other hand, the worst part was having to walk through unplowed snow on a sidewalk. The worst part of rucking isn't the verticle pressure of the weight of a ruck (which is mostly on the shoulders and back), but the slipping of your feet against socks and boot. That's was sloughs skin away.

That still sounds really tough, though, especially to a dude who's most physically strenuous regular activity consists of stroking my non-existent beard. Nice work.

Is a bit too deep in the meta-morality of enjoying fiction in which pleasure is derived from the misery (read: adventures) of others.

Sort of. Though right now my mind feels like someone sandblasted a soup ****** with four hours of monotone training video. All productive thinking is dead at this point.

Weird things to do for Health: Eat a packet of salt so you don't lose all your water.

Huh. The weirdest bit of health advice that I've heard is that you can take fish amoxicillin as a substitute for prescription amoxicillin. I have no clue if that's actually a good idea, though, so don't quote me on that one.

I'll try not to. I'm not chronically short of amoxicillin either, so no worries. But salt... it's amazing how much in the way of body salts you can sweat out, especially in a freezing winter. For someone who eats food with minimal seasoning, I'm one of those rare people who is often short of the stuff.

Ever have that depressing realization that you've gotten back into a good but long-passed game that no one else cares about anymore? That's me right now.

Alright, not that old. It's Fire Emblem Awakening for the 3DS. It's a story and character-centric strategy game that meshed three of my favorite themes (friendship, family, gods) during a stressful period of my life. The story's mediocre on its own grounds, but it had solid foundations that I've embellished in my head to novel-worthy proportions.

I haven't done anything console-related since the early to mid-90s, so I haven't had the opportunity to play Fire Emblem Awakening, but I looked it up and it does sound pretty interesting. If I ever get to a point where I have disposable income, I may consider picking it up some time.

It's definitely one of those games I was sad to finish- the sort of 'you'll never have real friends as awesome as these' cast that made a lot of people sadder when ME3 was around. Objectively I can find a lot of 'that's not very strong' points about it's story, but in my head it just keeps taking off in ways I know I would never be able to write to my own satisfaction. Even so, it's very much one of those 'earn your happy ending' stories where the l...
