I tried to keep the response level headed on the forum (I think I more or less succeeded)... but man that really hit a nerve with me. Not that I've always been perfectly aware of the world... I too had to go through a long process of unlearning all these horrible gender-specific myths... But it always shocks me to find some people still living with their heads in the sand.
