The TV at a hotel a friend and I stayed at recently wouldn't allow us to play Xbox either, despite there even being a little placard on the table saying that we could hook up a video console system to it. We discovered that if we disconnected the Lodgenet cable from the TV and turned it on, we could then switch the input to HDMI. We still weren't able to get it to access the internet because of the way they had their system setup (we were using the ICS function of my friends laptop...

It was annoying that we'd plug the Xbox HDMI cable in, but when we'd try to select the HDMI input from the TV menu screen, it wouldn't switch and would just go back to the Lodgenet adverts. My friend did some checking online, then shut the TV off, unplugged the Lodgenet data cable from the back of the TV and turned the TV back on. We were amazed to see that we could then select the HDMI input from the menu and have it actually switch to it like it should have in the first place....
