Yes it does. Use it along with a shocking Drone and Geth will never approach you.

The thing with passives is to max the weapon bonus, since that where almost all the merc's damage comes. That's actually the only power I always max with him lol. A 22,5% boost to weapon damage with ranks 6 isn't so bad. I also always take the detonate and shock evos on the drone and put some points on Shield Boost but, beyond that, I don't find that any evo is really mandatory, there...
