Whew - there's a reason I won't work in Word after switching to InDesign. It's kind of like having wings with which you happily soar through the sky, only to suddenly have them mercilessly hacked off and be left with only ragged, bloodied stumps where your wings used to be. That's what going back to Word is like.

The author with 2105 images of math formulae - THAT guy. Yeah, it turns out that after fixing an item as a test sample, it took three minutes to sort it out (author's manuscript being crappy doesn't help). The worst-case scenario is 6315 minutes or around 105 hours. I don't think all the images will need to be moved/adjusted, but even if only 500 images needed to be moved, that would still be 25 hours.

This is IF we end up dealing with the manuscript in InDesign. I'm currently pushing for this being handled in Word with minimal changes - basically just removing excess blank lines and trying to tidy up the author's current mess. Ugh - why meeeeeeeeeee.
