Cullen was a templar in dao and da2. In DAO he was the templar trapped at the top of the circle tower. In DA2 he was Meredith's second.

Ahh, it has been a while since I played Origins (only did it twice), and DA2 is still on my to-purchase list. Hopefully soon because I hear its a lot more fun than the first one.

No worries, I don't think I even really recalled that he had been a character in DA:O when my Hawke met him. I think I read about it here. I never played a mage in Origins, so he wasn't a memorable character for me.
