That's about as much sense as I can make of it. Let me point out that the author herself said she dreamed about Russia circa the end of the Romanov dynasty AND also dreamed about Mexico...and then she took notes about her dreams and did research...and THEN she decided it was a good idea to mash the two things that really have nothing to do with each other into the totally ridiculous story. The End!

Wow, it's just... crazy how it all comes together like that from dreams. makes me wish i could remember mine better, heh. I mean it's like, "well i dreamed that rasputin's spirit was given the chance to inhabit the mortal body of a border jumper from Mexico as punishment after being judged by the angels" ... How could it not be a totally hilarious day at work? :D
