Yes, the Sniper/Gunslinger are a great class. Their damage is insane. So did you use Kaliyo the entire game? Interesting. I'll try that on my next Sniper. I switched to Doc Lokin when I got him, since I wasn't sure wether tanks would be able to keep up late game.

@Milan: I really loved my BH as far as ranged went! As for my IA, yes, I really used Kaliyo the whole way through (except for the part where she was in Imperial custody and was unavailable...). I was a Virulence Sniper, so honestly, I just AoE'd pretty much everything. Kaliyo kept all the mobs on her, so I didn't really work too hard at it - lol.

I think Dr. Lokin was cool, but he can't make mobs cluster up the way that Kaliyo can. I suppose another factor is that I was, as a general rule, usually a bit higher than the mobs. I do have to wonder how well it will work on mobs of equal levels - this is something I'll have to test later when I hit the level cap.
