says this is my Worst Sentence of the Day nominee (for now): The howl of the fall wind voiced in the night and shuddered against their windows.

Oh, I just got the author's still-horrible revised manuscript back today. He changed "shuddered" to "rattled" in the sentence that I nominated for Worst Sentence of the Day. It's not an improvement at all, so here's my revision: The howling fall wind rattled against their windows that night.

I can only work with what I get - don't expect me to instantaneously change something like THAT crap sentence into Ray Bradbury-like prose. :P Anyway, I'm still massively annoyed with the author because A) he didn't follow directions (was supposed to contact us and use a Word copy of the galley proof to work from) and B) he STILL has a gazillion really stupid errors.

I spent just a few minutes going over the first three pages of Chapter 2, and I promptly found five-plus errors without even trying hard. He actually entered "perspective buyers" when it SHOULD be "prospective buyers." And in my initial notes, I clearly stated that he needed PROFESSIONAL editing (not him doing his own totally fail editing).
