I had to join it as a volunteer in my medieval group; the newsletter people keep a Facebook page. Fine. Friend in the medieval group sends a friend request. Well... okay, fine. SHE SUGGESTS FRIENDS and suddenly I have a dozen people sending me friend requests. Which I guess is nice? But I don't even know where my Facebook page is, I don't check it, I don't want to check it. Is it rude to decline the requests? Is it ruder to accept and then categorically ignore everything on Face...

Most people won't even notice if you don't accept a friend request (unless they really really wanted you as a friend), and I don't *think* people are told if you actually hit decline. So honestly, don't stress. If you don't use Facebook anyway it's not like they'll be missing anything :)
