Just finished "The Collector" by John Fowles for a literature class. After the semester I may, for the first time in my life, throw a book in the garbage.

Yeah it even inspired at least 3 copy cats in the US. :/ Any you recommend? A friend recommended The Magus.

The Uncanny
The Magus is probably the safest bet even if it is a bit of a doorstep. I'm very fond of A Maggot but I'm pretty much alone in that. ^_^ If you're familiar with late Victorian literature and art history then The French Lieutenant's Woman is probably his finest novel, but a lot of it would go over your head if you're not.

I'm familiar with Victorian literature but not so much art. However, I was able to make it through Hawthorne's The Marble Faun with the occasional peak at Google. X) Fowles is a brilliant author (I read The Collector in 24 hours, I just had to make sure she was okay...) and I'd like to give him another chance, eventually, after I enough time has passed since....that. Whatever he was trying to say about socioeconomics in 1960s England, horror is just not my thing. Thank you for you...
