Hey, I just got ME2 today and Im having trouble loading my proflies from ME1.  I bought ME1 on steam and I got ME2 in disc form from a store.  Could this be the problem?  Is there any way I can fix it?

What kind of trouble? Do your save files just not show up? Make sure you load the correct directory in the configuration utility. Default: My documents -> BioWare -> Mass Effect -> Save

I did that (went to the correct folder, etc) and nothing happens...

Nothing shows up at all when I click the folder, and ME2 says it can't find any characters from ME1.

Try moving them manually. The files you want are be the ones that start with "Char_" in the name. (As opposed to the ones starting with a character's first name, or the MassEffectProfile file.) Copy them to \\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\Save\\ME1

...and I tried to manually copy them over to My documents\\\\bioware\\\\Mass effect 2\\\\save\\\\ME1 and that didn't work either.

edit: Heh, crossposted. Yeah, ME2 still isn't seeing them.

That's just bizarre. These are "Char_##..." files, right?



Saving & loading ME2 saves works okay within the game itself?

Errr wait no, they're not. I don't have any Char_## files.

And yes, my ME2 save files work fine.

If you don't have Char_ files then you don't have import files. Have you actually finished a ME1 game?
