Going to list all the books i like. And remember.
Fantasy:
George R. R. Martin's books, A Song of Ice and Fire first and foremost.
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time
While i don't particularly care about The Forgotten Realms, i sort of liked the Dark Elf trilogy, the one that's about Drizzt. Dunno about the rest though.
That's pretty much all the fantasy i read... Been planning to read Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy, is it any good?
Scifi/Space Fantasy:
Peter F. Hamilton's books: Night's Dawn Trilogy, the Greg Mandell trilogy, The Commonwealth Saga and it's sequel, the Void Trilogy. They're large, long, have complicated plots, advanced high tech, multiple characters...
Frank Herbert's Dune series, and it's sequels and prequels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The sequels and prequels are quite different in style, being a bit more starwarsish than the original series, but IMO, worth reading still.
Isaac Asimov's and Arthur C. Clarke's books. classics. Same could go for Robert F. Heinlein, though i haven't read much of his books. Starship Troopers is must.
Larry Niven's Ringworld series.
I can probably answer questions, since i didn't write much about these. Too much to be said
