Hi guys
I'm sure people will say the problem is with the DVD drive - and it probably is - but it recognises the DVD, allows me to e.g. browse the support .htm files and even run the start autorun panel from the DVD (with the website/documentation/etc options). However at this point when I select 'play' it immediately (without any delay or noise from the hard drive) gives a dialog box of "Can't find the Dragon Age disk. Please insert disk and re-try".
I've been playing fine for weeks, only change since I last played was installing MS .Net framework 4 beta 2.
Any ideas??
Thanks

You're telling us that your particular problem was totally unique compared to all these others?

OK, similar to several others. However what everyone seems to have in common is, a complete lack of reliable fix or response from an official source.
Fine to find out that upgrading my DVD firmware may help - just did, it didn't.
Fine that if I were running from an illegal cracked copy or ISO/etc it could be copy protection legitimately blocking me - it isn't
Fine that if I make my own illegitimate ISO and run it from that it might work (I don't know how to do this and even if I did it would be a ridiculous solution given I have the DVD right here).
Last thing to try - using the game's reg key to download a digital one from the EA store (which apparently is not working right now).
Any other suggestions? Any, I don't know, dev fixes to a problem that's obviously blocking hundreds or thousands of legitimate players from enjoying their purchase, for no reason whatsoever?

Well I must agree I'm having the same problem. The game has worked fine since Awakening. I start up DA:O today and bam! can't find the DA disk, even if I start the game through the disk in my CD drive. I double click the drive, the client comes up, I click play and get the error.

Dunno, but after installing Awakening I find I have to use the Awakening disk. The Origins disk gives me the "could not find disk" message.

Yes, if you have Awakenings installed you need the Awakenings disk to start the game.metatheurgist wrote...

I bet you didn't get a fix yet did you Avel? My game doesn't work after installing .NET Framework 4.0 either. My guess is its the poor excuse for "copy protection". They should go back to the cardboard encryption wheels, lol.

Any updates? I've had this problem myself, and I'd like it to be resolved.

Here's an interesting thing: after copying over my old saves, it turns out that it was looking for the Awakenings disc, and not the Origins disc! Funny that, innit?
