...machine...into a shop:o

/facepalm

I'm sorry...I AM self-taught on computers...I know what my inner workings of my machine look like.   I know that the CD and Dvd drives..are not coffee cup holders. :P

But I don't consider myself ...good enough to replace stuff on the inside..without frying my motherboard or some other similar..catastrophe..therefore I leave it to those..that know what they are doing.

I do not.

Also need to add....a lot of issues with older games have nothing to do with the OS, but more to do with your newer gfx card.

Case example. Shogun total war (damn I love that game)...does actually play fine in Xp (to a point, despite what I said earlier)....my main issue with it was it hated my new card.

Old games work on old tech, and suprisingly often, when you update your gfx card, it can cause all manner of issues with your old games, despite the OS being fine.

Not everyone is 100% comp savvy m8, tho I agree with your points. Some people just can't cope with the curve Win7 throws and understand how to overcome them, and I for one still like dabbling with 'oldskool' games, NWN1 for example.

Very true agreed. As for the learning curve, I find this very interesting:
Most of the people who moaned about xp > Vista....did NOT moan about Vista > 7

Funny that isnt it? There is actually very little difference between the two. I feel imo, that the majority were put off by Vista because MS in their wisdom changed too many things at once, alienated a lot of people. But as 7 is more streamlined Vista, all those people who moaned, yet used vista, found the transition from vista to 7 quite easy....now I find that very interesting. So was it really vista they didnt like, or was it too many changes they didnt like?

Fera, dont bother with 2 cards (depending on age)...a newer 5700 or 5800 series AtI will blow away 2 8800gt's....
Only get 2 cards if your going a lot newer, if your going to be using old cards, spend the money on one single newer card imo :)

I LIKE Nvidia...they have never done me wrong.  I am sticking with Nvidia. :D

Katana, I did have a few minor issues with it, but nothing a 2 minute google didnt solve for me. I never expect any game over 4 years old to work well with the next gen OS lol...too experienced like that....if they work fine...Im happy, if they dont, I accept I might have to do soem googling to find out how to resolve it.

But thats the beauty of gamers, bit like car clubs, we stick together, find work arounds and help each other out :)

Lmao...fer....ok then...get a newer gtx then...lol....but my point remains, one newer card will give the output of 2 older ones....so makes sense to go newer really doesnt it?

(and sorry, im an AMD.ATI fanboy lol)

I love AMD as well. :P   Just not fussed about ATI..or "intell inside" or some of the other stuff that seems popular.

As someone who went from XP directly to 7, but had seen and used Vista on other people's computers, I can confirm that it really was Vista that I didn't like.
