After nit picking at this chili I'm eating, I felt like asking what foods people on the forums can't stand!

I have a very big list, so I shall just go with what I don't like about my chili right now!

Tomatoes

Mushrooms

Olives

They are icky! :P

I hate...

Licorice

Brussel's sprouts

Gherkin

Those three things lower my physical resistances... especially those of my stomach...

Fish, only because when I lived with my father he would stink up the house making it.

My vote goes to Arenque. It's very salty but doesn't taste too bad. The main problem with it is the harsh smell if you put it on a grill. I like it better smoked, but the smell makes eating it damn near impossible for me at times.

I'm not fond of lasagna either. Sorry Garfield. :P

Cabbage, lettuce, peaches and pears... foods that aren't bad but taste bland. There are others but that should do.

Mushrooms, pork, and broccoli.

Tomatoes are one of those things that I have to be in the "mood" for. Same with cabbage/beef/celery.

I find most fruit delicious.

Anything made of the crap parts of the animal. Like caviar or testicles, for example.

I also hate broccoli, and generally most vegetables that are not cooked, and almost anything made of leaves. One of the only exceptions being spinach.

Raw salads. Also, veggies boiled to death. Both of which seem to be American university cafeteria staples. There are more pleasant ways to eat your greens, dammit! Ever heard of a good soup or stir-fry???

...Raw salads? Could you elaborate? My brain isn't functioning properly (We're assuming that it occasionally does, okay?).

Also, I must say that grilled veggies are the way to go. Image IPB

Yes! There are so many great ways that you can cook veggies, and what to people do?! They steam them, boil them, and serve them raw!! It's a tragedy!

Red and green bell peppers, and cooked tomatoes. Oh also ketchup. Pieces of cooked tomato taste gross and have a weird texture and consistency. Just the smell of ketchup makes me want to vomit.

ALL YE WHO AGREE SAY AYE!!!

@ Godak: I might be guilty of using the "it's cultural" argument here as a basis, but as someone of southern Chinese (Cantonese) descent who has been eating freshly cooked veggies all her life, I find the typically American-served veggie dish just... disgusting. Boiling veggies to death and serving them devoid of nutrients and flavor, or eating them raw just isn't right. (Ever notice how people have to lather their salads in sauce to hide the taste? It's counterintuitive). Conversely, southern Chinese / Cantonese cooking focuses on letting natural flavors and freshness rise to the fore. Seriously, it tastes much better than any frigging salad I've ever had. Examples:

Hong Kong kailan (stir-fried, with garlic)

Mixed veggies (claypot with sauce/soup base)

How to stir-fry veggies and tofu (video)

The key, really, is to cook veggies just right while adding a little flavor through natural ingredients like garlic / ginger / onions / a little sauce, but keeping much of the texture and taste intact. Seriously. Much better than gorging down salad while piling on calories just because you can't stomach raw greens and have to use greasy salad dressing to compensate.

I don't think I've ever *smelled* ketchup before. I just...uh...put it on hot dogs. Hmm. Yeah, I don't use ketchup for much, I just realized.

Boiled broccoli...that's a smell that'll make grown men cry. Image IPB

I do like East Asian cuisine quite a bit...Is there anyway I can convert ethnicities? Mmm, those look om nom nommy. Image IPB

BTW, the main point of confusion was an assumption on my part. I thought you were using "raw" like..."Whoa, dude! That was totally raw!" So...in my head, that translated to "I don't like awesome salad." Image IPB

I hate ketchup. Really. Mustard too. Most normal "sauces" actually. They just... are very not good.

Hot sauce, other chili based sauces, and horseradish though. Those are tasty.

It's more along the lines of  "I don't like empty flavorless food that is intended for rabits."

Salad is what food eats.

Yes, I understand that now.

Some vegetables I prefer raw, actually. Asparagus and carrots come to mind.

It has a distinct smell, at least for me. I have a hyper sense of smell when it comes to ketchup. It's so nasty and gross! *shivers* I won't even touch it. Americans also have this infatuation with putting ketchup on everything they eat, drenching their food with it. Disgusting.

I have a ketchup phobia

Fish and pork, no religious affiliation, just not my thing. Sushi isn't terrible and there are some ways I will tolerate pork, but generally not my favorite foods.

Like I said, I rarely use ketchup, and I never "drench" my food in it. I'm not a huge tomato person, as I've already said. Image IPB

Yeah, I think we all have certain smells that just make somthing inside of us weep. Image IPB
